Love it! Best bloody Mary ever. Cool low key dive bar atmosphere. Trevor is an awesome bartender. Even told us some of the local ghost story stuff he experienced himself. Awesome food and great drinks. Can’t wait to come back.

Good place to drink, with cheap specials nightly. The food is OK, but you have to order at the bar which is annoying. It also takes forever to get your food if there’s any kind of crowd.

LOVETHISPLACE! We made Taco Tuesday Happy Hour… gourmet southern tacos and margaritas for $ 2 each. I was pleased to find out they use an organic lime mix for their margs and not a nasty sweet & sour mix. The tacos were HUGE and delicious. They were made with flour tortillas, not my fav, but the gourmet fillings made up for it… BIGTIME! The kimchi was bomb, the bacon chicken ranch taco is the best non-Mexican taco I’ve ever had. After a few margs, the bartender helped me pick out a tasty Arkansas brew. He was knowledgable and super friendly. This is a superb bar; right up there with what I’d find in the Bay Area of California where I’m from. I highly recommend. Awesome food. Awesome service. Intimate ambiance. Friendly crowd. Oh, and KICKASS label!!!

This is some of the best food I’ve had in a LONGTIME. Holy mother, the burritos. And the gyros. And the pizza. And the tacos. Literally, we considered asking for«the shittiest thing on the menu» just to realize how good even THAT would be. We came from out of town, spent three days in Hot Springs and went to Maxine’s twice! Their beer selection could be improved but we were happy with what we got. Can’t complain. Trevor was a great bartender and made awesome suggestions for us. GOHEREIMMEDIATELY! Ask jade to serve you specifically. Jk he’s the wawesome bar back

We went here visiting town and I didn’t expect much, but the food was really good! I had the drink hot dog and fries, both I would get again. Beers were good too, and the bartender was knowledge about what was on tap.

Had a great night here! Originally stopped in to have one drink, but ended up staying for hours! If you love handcrafted cocktails this is the place to go! So many different options when it comes to drinks. We also tried a few apps and everything was great.

So far, the coolest pub downtown and the best foodie menu. Great selections and only 1TV so you have to enjoy your company. Came in from Nashville and was very impressed. Coming back tomorrow to try more.

This. Place. Was. GREATNESS. In from out of town but very familiar with Hot Springs, this was our first visit to Maxines. Lunch. Beer. Whiskey. Burgers. Cool peeps. Walked around for a while. Then, what the hey, let’s go back for dinner. And, why not, let’s stay for the burlesque show. Man, what a fun joint. We’d go back again in a heartbeat. Great happy hour, great whiskey(and other drink) selection, cool folks working the place. We felt like regulars. Everyone seemed to know each other and made us feel the same. Shout out to Downtown Dee for making us feel like we’d been coming there for years. Kickass place.

Came here for lunch on our way out of Hot Springs. My girlfriend and I split the veggie burger and it was probably one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. We also got their sriracha slaw on the side to put on the burger. It was so good and made the burger even better. There were other things on the menu that I would would have liked to try but we didn’t have the time. My only complaint about this place is that there is no table service. ALL orders for food or drink have to be placed at the bar. This is difficult when it is busy and it’s up to the bartender to take everyone’s food and drink order. We actually went into this place earlier in the week but ended up just leaving without getting anything because it was so busy and ordering at the bar was uncomfortable. Would definitely come back for one of those awesome veggie burgers and sriracha slaw!

The combination of outrageous covers and high drink prices would make Maxine’s a candidate for a lower rating were it not the undisputed champion of unique local music. Between that and its admittedly compelling backstory, you can’t be too hard on the place — it’s got character.

Discovered this bar over the weekend. My wife and I were looking for a drink and a bite to eat before a wedding. This place looks pretty divey b/c of the building, but that’s part of the charm. The Bartender Vinny served us and he was very personable and helpful. He said they recently added a lot of cocktails to their drink menu and he was right, there were many of them. Most of them he had not yet made before. But this didn’t matter, we had several cocktails and they were very sophisticated and good. Damn good. I had the Ginger Sour and it was very refreshing with the 100 degree heat outside. We also decided to have hot dogs. I had the BBQ with slaw on the side(i’m not partial to slaw) and my wife had the asian one. They were very good. Infact, I decided to take it a step further and try the slaw and I was shocked. Not being a fan of coleslaw, it was perfectly tied with the BBQ dog. After the wedding I was shooting the shit with the Groom, and he mentioned that he went to Maxine’s the other night and talked it up with the drinks and the live music. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say. I’m 30 and the crowd was mostly 45ish b/c of the early evening and vacation type of area. If you’re passing through Hot Springs for an evening, go here for a drink and bite. You’ll be surprised how sophisticated the drinks and food is. Or not, b/c if you read this, you’re just like me.

We had a party of two on a Friday night about 6:30. We walked in near the bar area and took an open seat.(Plenty of open seats) We had plenty of time to look thru menu at table and look around while the bar server passed us with another table’s food. Not once did anyone say hi or I’ll be with you in a minute. We ended up leaving and eating at The Ohio Club, that barley had any seats left but we got lucky with the only two left in a packed bar. The service & food was 5 stars at the Ohio club. The next day we mentioned to a local & they commented that a new owner took over & Maxine’s has gone down ever since.

Stopped in here for lunch on a Friday. We were a big, tired, overheated group. They let us dine with the kids, which was kind. Sure, the bathroom art wasn’t «safe for work,» but the food was delicious and the service attentive. Best pizza I’ve ever had. Mmm garlic…

I used to love Maxine’s. It was always my first place to go anytime I was in town. I often spent two or three nights straight there. I went tonight with my girlfriend to get dinner and some drinks. First we both noticed the terrible R&B music that was blasting. What is with that? Then a patron walked around the bar and turned it up louder. Really sucked. Then we went to order at the bar. I stood and stood and stood. Bartender acknowledged I was there and said she would be with me in a minute. Well she never got to me. Between the terrible loud music and poor service we got up and left. It seems that Maxines is getting away from the type of bar it used to be. Don’t know that I’ll be back.

Spent the night in hot springs as part of a road trip and managed to stumble into this gem. Massive calzones, cheap beer and good music. The Mountain Sprouts were playing when I was here and the absolutely killed it with some bluegrass!

In a town like Hot Springs, Maxine’s feels like the glammed up version of a dive, part of the local scene but not a place too many locals frequent. It used to be a brothel so the place has a lot of character and there’s a certain vintage aura to it. It’s fairly roomy but it can be surprisingly crowded, specially on Fridays and Saturdays, when it’s not surprising to bump into your random bachelorette party doing the rounds. They have lots of good beer on tap, their burgers are just right but their pizzas are legendary. I tried their delicious calzone once and I kick myself for not ever trying their pizza. I heard too many stories about it from the locals, some of whom claimed that they keep going back to Maxine’s solely for the pie. Local lore aside, its solid selection of brews and live music is good enough reason to check it out. At least, that was why I did.

During film festival, all the restaurant close at 9pm… So we came here to eat dinner. We ordered Swiss Cheese Burger, super good… I would love to give higher review but we wait for more than 30 minutes to get our burger.

Great selection of craft beer on draught for a fair price. Every bartender was polite and gave good service. Three different stages/bands were playing for my $ 5 cover. I never knew there were so many Hipsters in Hot Springs, but the joint was lousy with ‘em. Skinny jeans, knit caps, and black rim glasses were seen in abundance. I’ll drink with hipsters any day over rednecks. I got caught up in college football and noticed another patron enjoying the biggest calzone ever. It was bigger than my face. I ordered one, but must say it looked better than it tasted. Maxine’s will be my go-to watering hole in Hot Springs.
