My friends who went to the conference with me wanted Cajun seafood and I went along, even though I’m not a seafood person. And I still found great food and great service. I had both an appetizer and a sandwich and came away full. The fried chicken bites were a great appetizer and well fried. If I had one gripe, it was the cheese sauce. As a native Texan, I might’ve expected something more like queso, but the cheese sauce tasted more like melted processed American cheese. The grilled chicken sandwich more than atoned for the lack of flavor with the cheese sauce. The sandwich had more than enough seasoning to make up for the previous error and the seasoning approached, but didn’t quite reach, the level of blackened. In other words, just how you’d imagine a grilled chicken sandwich in Louisiana. My friends loved the seafood and I can definitely find an option the next time I go back…

Went to this place after reading reviews. Got the fried shrimp and fried crawfish with sweet potato fries. I’m from out of town and it was my first time eating crawfish, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. It was okay but not great. However, the service was fantastic and so maybe I’ll come back and try something else next time!

The Crawfish was excellent. The Fried shrimp was good as well, the catfish was the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star review, It was just average. The service was fast and friendly. Will defiantly be coming back when I am in town.

This place is so hit and miss. Just ate there and the Shrimp and crawfish was over boiled. They were out of butter and potatoes. When our food was brought out with out the potatoes they said they won’t discount it because the potatoes were complimentary. Eat here at your own risk. But if there is a problem. Don’t look for them to try to make it right. Repeat customer now a former customer.

Charbroiled oysters are really good here. The crayfish has good flavor, boiled correctly, but to make it even better they should sprinkle some crawfish boil seasoning on top for the extra flavor. Overall, I’m fan and will come back on the next visit. Cheers.

HITS. THE. SPOT. ^^ I would just leave it at that but I have to tell you all of how amazingly crazy good this place is. I have been cheated of my authentic crawfish boil virginity. All this time I had thought that the restaurants like the boiling crab, hot n juicy crawfish, cajun crawfish, etc. were all authentic crawfish boils. Stupid me. I now, finally, know the meaning of a real crawfish boil. Thank you New Orleans. Of course we had to start off with raw oysters. We ordered a dozen and with no hesitation, gobbled that down within the blink of an eye. They were humongous too! These were delicious! With 6 of us, we started with stuffed jalapenos(stuffed with homemade crabmeat), fried calamari. and after the boil soup. The stuffed jalapenos should’ve really been named crabmeat stuffed jalapenos. It was suuuuper good. I totally searched for a recipe already to duplicate it. The fried calamari was just fried calamari with the dipping sauce which I cant remember what it was. After the boil soup was really good. Never had it but now I will attempt to make it after I attempt to make the best tasting crawfish boil(even though its the only crawfish boil I’ve ever had). Now, lets get to this amazingly crazy good crawfish boil. Where to start. let me fantasize about the taste of it first. Mmmmmmm **drools**. Ok ok just a bit longer. Alright alright I’m done. The taste was perfect. You can taste the cajun, the spicyness, the celery, the bay leaves, all the goodness, oh my! A real crawfish eater would suck the juice out from the head and I did just that to every crawfish I ate. We ordered 10 lbs of crawfish altogether and ate every little critter. I almost forgot we also ordered 2 lbs of shrimp which was also good but back to the crawfish boil, go get yours from here!!! HIGHLY recommend it. I am reeeeaaally picky when it comes to crawfish and how it tastes so for me to say this place is good, I sincerely mean it. Everyone has their own taste buds and expectations for crawfish, but this meets all of my expectations and then some. Now back to dreaming about it.

Seafood is good and prices are reasonable. I travel for work so I always make it a point to try the local fare. Beer is all bottled, no draft. Not s huge deal but draft beer makes a different for me. Main thing is the service. Waitress was nice but very short. Not in a rude way just strictly business. Almost like she’s in a hurry or something. I would definitely come back here for the food and atmosphere. With even«average» Chili’s quality service it could be a 4 – 5 star. I don’t even like Chili’s but most chains have consistent service.

Amazing food! Definitely recommend the crawfish platter… That’s what my mother ordered. I had the soft shell crab, which was good too. But, to be honest, i forgot about my meal and ate half of my mom’s haha… Going there for lunch tomorrow!!! Shout out to Gaby for being an excellent waitress! Really sweet girl!

Really a great seafood restaurant. Love the Charbroiled Oysters. As far as the rest I had the trash basket. Cant beat the variety and quality of this dish. Had everything. Especially loved the soft-shell crab. Their oysters are fresh and pure Louisiana Salty Oysters. The best in the world. Go early as it will get crowed but worth the wait if you get there a little later.

Pretty Good place. Kind of off the beating path on Barrow St. If you’re near the convention center it is convenient. Decent food and a nice ambiance. We had the Gumbo, The Trash basket and the Half boil which consisted of half Crab and half Shrimp. The gumbo was good with a tasty roux and a decent portion of seafood. The trash basket is this HUGE mound of fried seafood deliciousness and placed over a huge bed of fries. Perfectly fried seafood and the bacon wrapped shrimp were«slap your Mama» good. Only thing off I thought were the soft shell crabs. They weren’t cleaned right and the water inside made the batter just slide off and left you with this soggy, kind of gross under cooked soft shell crab. The boiled crab and shrimp were good. They use what seemed like their own blend of spices instead of the store bought bags. All and all everything had a good flavor. Extremely expensive for seafood, especially with all of the choices in the area. A nice place to eat, but value for the money won’t see me returning.

Fun very casual place. Great for kids. We had the Trash Basket & it was good for 2 people to split. The After the Boil soup is delicious The oyster shucking is a great distraction for kids while waiting for food Saw some reviews about speed of service but the menu warns you to allow time for orders to be prepared fresh

Great food and great service from wait staff. But don’t sit a party and not warn them a 4 piece band is coming and their amplifier is going to be on us. We had a 9 year old with us who did not need to be exposed to that loud of music being right on us. It was so loud we couldn’t even enjoy a family dinner and prayed they were going to take a break so we could finish our meal in peace. I feel like an old lady writing this review, but that is seriously how loud the music was. What started out as a fun dinner, pre band, turned into a nightmare. All of us left with pounding headaches and ringing ears. I am all for music but use some common sense when sitting people and it’s just 7 pm. And when we complain to someone, the appropriate response is not«well, don’t come on a Saturday».

Oysters are huge and salty. I tried the grilled but wasn’t that impressed with them. I also had the boiled shrimp which were very good. Give this place a try.

Popular, authentic local seafood shack. Nothing fancy, just great crab, boiled crawfish, oysters and deep fry. Enjoyed Dungeness crab with sausage and corn, and fresh oysters as an appetizer. Local beer selection. Sign in when first you arrive, to get a table.

Came here for lunch when it was not very busy Feb 2013. Many sports-bar sensibilities in the décor, but it is not about the style, it is about the product. Got the crawfish, and they were the super-juciest, and sucking each head was godly. The lips burned, the tummy was happy, the mind was blown — — exceptional crawfish boil.

Sat solo at their small bar. Friendly bayou guy behind bar shucking fattest oysters I’ve ever seen. Had to try a half dozen … they were fabulous. Next, I went for a bowl of gumbo. So few places get that a dish can be spicy without being salty. 1921 gets it. The soup was fabulous. 1921 will definitely be on my go list for Houma.
