Definitely a hidden gem. Came here during Tuesday steak night. We were amused to see the place only had a few costumers. The food and drinks were great. My favorite cocktails were Taste of Tropix and Rangpur Breeze. Had two orders of the lettuce wraps. That’s how good they were! The ribs were delicious. The chicken flatbread was made to perfection. Guaranteed coming back!

Ambrosia Highlights: — Tiger Prawns: Sweet & slightly spicy perfectly cooked shrimp. — Brussel Sprouts: Crispy sprouts with Parmesan shavings. Reminds me of a Paula Deen recipe that’s Mmm-mm good. — Korean Fried Chicken Wings: Spicy and substantial. Want to go back and try the other two flavors! — Gangum Ribs: Fall-off the bone tender and well-marinated. — Samosas(Lamb): 3 pieces, carved in half with a sauce on the side. — Chicken Lettuce Wraps & Papaya Salad: 2 dishes that are a good pause to balance out of the sweet/savory & spicy dishes. — Kahlua/Raspberry Kulfi(Indian ice cream): Semi-sweet chocolate-flavored ice cream that is slightly more dense that usual ice cream with a raspberry sauce drizzled on top. — Reservations, Parking, and Service: Easy on an off-peak night. This past Sunday was my second visit to Ambrosia, a little gem of restaurant tucked away in the Shepherd area, and both times have been cozy, quiet evenings. I’m going to assume that my visits were on off-peak times, so reservations and parking were open & easy, the restaurant was sparsely populated, and overall the tone cozy and intimate. Service was excellent, well-paced, and unobtrusive. Our server recommended that we order 5 dishes for 3 people, however, we like to eat so we ended up ordering 7 dishes. Most of the dishes we ordered were of the sweet & spicy variety, so next time, I may add another dish of a different variety. Overall, an enjoyable place to chill out and relax with good people.

I came to Ambrosia tonight, and it was filled to the brim! I absolutely love the food, ambiance, and staff here, so waiting is never an issue for me and my friends; however, I noticed the manager having issues with another large party. They were not able to get seated right away, but that is completely understandable considering that most nice restaurants might not be able to seat you immediately even if you have a reservation. I also had to wait after my reservation time, but the staff was very apologetic and gave me their usual top notch service. The party became upset, but the manager was running around trying to make more seats available for them. He has always given me amazing customer service, and I personally felt bad because I know he was trying his best to accommodate everyone. My friends and family have had big parties(10 – 20 people) here several times and each experience was incredible! I have been meaning to write a detailed review, but tonight’s incident has facilitated me doing so because I heard them threatening to write a scathing review about Ambrosia. Now onto the food! I highly recommend the brussels sprouts, and I see almost every table order it! Another one of my favorites is the citrus salmon sashimi. The yuzu, orange, and fried onion go so well together, and the flavors just melt in my mouth! If you like spicy dishes, the tiger prawns are to die for! For something on the sweeter side, I would recommend the chicken lettuce wraps. I normally do not go for lamb at restaurants, but the lamb chops here are not gamey whatsoever and come with a great yogurt sauce on the side. The gangnam ribs literally fall off the bone! The meat is soo tender! I can’t get enough of it. As for the flat breads, I would say the thai chicken is the best. My favorite libations here are the white coconut sangria and taste of tropix, which are both quite sweet. Overall, Ambrosia has a sultry atmosphere, great food, and a very sweet staff. I give my highest recommendation to this restaurant.

Horrible horrible service! My sister came here for her birthday. Invited guest only to be told that her table was still occupied. When they finally did give us a table it was not for everyone. After speaking with the«owner», I was only given attitude. In the end his only apology was free shots. Can you imagine? You invite 15 people out to enjoy your birthday and end up embarrassed. Also, he filled our table with lawn chairs. Wow! Won’t be back ever! On the flip side, the restaurant has a few sweet waitresses. But I have never been more embarrassed.

My boyfriend invited me to this place. He told that it is a super restaurant. I have never been there before. he reserved the table so when we came in, the kindly waitress showed us our place. From the first sight I would say that the staff are friendly there, they are smiling. We ordered some food, for my boyfriend it was easy to choose but not for me. I asked the waitress for an advice. I liked all the dishes we ordered except the wasabi shumai, it was too salty for me. We ordered some cocktails, they were yummy. So, I think it is not the last time we come there.

I was there only one time and I liked this place. When I entered I thought to myself: I will spend a good time there. I love tapas very much and I ordered them. The menu was super, it had a big variety of food and the prices were reasonable. I wanted to drink something. When I took the drink menu, I was surprised. The prices were very low. I waited for my order much time maybe because Ambrosia was crowded, I did not like it. In general it is a good place with reasonable prices and friendly staff. Definitely will come back.

Cool, cozy, copacetic! For starters, this place it tucked off in a neighborhood I don’t frequently go to and it’s really easy to pass this place up. The sign is very small and nothing stands out about it but since my girl«Siri» said we had arrived, we found a parking spot. We had reservations here for a Monday night and I couldn’t have been more happier to pick a weekday for this place. It wasn’t overly packed and because of that it made the night more intimate for the occasion. Our waitress of the night was Torie and the service was impeccable. For our drink choices, we went with a dirty martini made with Ketel One for him and Thai Kiss for me. My Thai Kiss was perfect and had a great fruity fusion going on. My bf felt as though his martini wasn’t «dirty» enough and Torie had no hesitation to remake it. The cuisine is South East Asian so the menu has a variety of Indian and Asian fusion plates. We decided to go with three meat choices and a side dish for our food choices. Everything was great and full of flavor but we really enjoyed the Gangnam Ribs the most. They made our souls cry tears of happiness. Very tender! The remaining choices listed from most favorite to least favorite would be the Korean Wings, 5 Spiced Strip, and the Curry Wedges coming in at last place. I wasn’t really a fan of the curry wedges but since my bf is part Trinidadian, he enjoyed them more than I did. Since it was my bf’s birthday, he got a complimentary Kahlua Kulfi(Indian ice cream) dessert for us to share. Of course I enjoyed the ice cream because I love coffee, Kahlua, and sweets! I tore that dessert up and it wasn’t even my birthday! It was a perfect«trois». Ha! Overall, we had a great dining experience at Ambrosia and we will be back for sure to try out more of the menu. I hope we get our girl Torie next time also!

This such a cute place! I just fell in love with it. I really appreciate the fact that my server could see that my group of 3 were having a girls night and was able to seen and not heard. Nothing annoys me more than a server that babysits me. Yes bro, everything is fine! We tried the wings, garlic spinach pizza and ribs. All were great but that pizza was my fav. It was so fresh! Lightly flavored with garlic and abundant with mozzarella it was perfect! My only hang up with this place is the noise level. Good God its loud! Its like trying to have a conversation in club. Toward the end of our dinner I gave up and let my friends lose their voices trying to communicate. Ill call yall tomorrow. On the phone. Its a shame because this place screams date night but its just too loud. Which Im guessing is an axiom because on a Saturday night it was a chick fest. All and all though its a hit!

Recently celebrated 30th birthday Dinner with closest Friends. We were thrilled the waiter was efficient, fast, friendly, food was delicious and over all they were able to split checks for all my friends(not a lots of places do that) so to me it was amazing to see that despite of the limited space, they are able to manage everything on time. Thank you ambrosia staff! I highly recommend you.

I absolutely love this place! I was so pleased with every bit of my experience from the food to the drinks and awesome service. I didn’t have one complaint at all. I decided to have my birthday dinner here and I’m so happy I did. I had almost a party of 14 people and they went out of their way to accommodate my wishes. All the rooms were reserved due to my poor planning and last minute decisions but they were able to get me next to this beautiful red painting. We made it in time for reverse happy hour which starts at 9pm and their menu of choices was great. We had so many dishes and we all had plenty to share. Their drinks are amazing as well. The Thai Kiss was perfect and the cosmos had you wanting more! Everyone of my friends enjoyed all the food we ordered along with their drinks. This is one of my favorite spots. If your looking for a romantic evening or to celebrate an event this would be a great pick. For reservations of a room make sure to call ahead of time as they book pretty quickly. I think they have a minimum of 500. For each room but in the dining area there is no minimum. Very cozy, sophisticated, trendy spot. I can’t express enough how satisfied I was… you’ll have to come and try this little gem.

Date Night with hubby! Driving by it can be easily missed. We were the first customer of the evening so valet hadn’t setup and we had to open the doors up. Haha This is a tapas place so everything is shareable and my first at a tapas. Waitress, Lori, was friendly and gave great recommendations. I started out with a Saigon drink she suggested and had it made a little sweeter. Thus might be my new fav, has sweet fruity taste followed with a liquor kick at the end. Our tapas: 1. Fried chicken wings — again she suggested mixing the spicy Korean sauce with the basil garlic. The wings cooked well with moist chicken and crispy skin. The sauce was wonderful a good spice along with sweet basil and garlic. Yum! I believe we got 6 of these they were cut big. 2. Tiger prawns — cooked well, you get 4 to an order. Sauce was mild and tangy. This was my hubs fav. 3. Lamb chops — good seasoning served dry but with a tzakiki sauce. We ate them dry and could taste the lamb flavor with subtle seasonings. You get 5 served over white rice. 4. Ribs — love the sauce spicy juicy and sweet. The meat is cooked right where you bite and leave a mark. Tender meat. 5. 5 spice steak — comes sliced on a long plate with chimchurri drizzled over. I love the spice blend that makes a small crunchy layer on the steak. It was cooked as we asked med rare. This was my fav. 6. Kahlua kulfi — an Indian ice cream kahlua flavored with raspberry purée over the top. Really refreshing and good to have after all the different spices. We can’t wait to return and try more dishes.

The food. The food. THEFOOD. We came here to celebrate an anniversary. I made a reservation but it really wasn’t necessary. We went at 5:10 on Friday and there was only one other couple there. There was one waitress but she had no problem with just two couples. We ordered vegetable samosas, Brussels sprouts, Korean wings, and Szechuan ribeye. Every single thing we ate we loved. My favorite being the Szechuan steak. It was so tender and cooked perfectly. It could be spicy at times but it was such a good flavor. Everything about the food was great. If I had to be picky about anything it would probably be that the restaurant was as cold as it was outside. I wish there was some sort of central heating because I had to keep my coat on. Also I wish they could have paid more attention to the fact that we were celebrating our anniversary like some other places do, but hey everything else made up for that. I definitely want to go back for more delicious food and maybe even a drink next time. Can’t wait!

If you make a reservation(super easy online via Unilocal), they put a card with your name on the table! Definitely thought that was a nice touch. Happy hour lasts until 7pm M-F. It’s not amazing but does have some deals. Cocktails that are normally $ 10 become $ 7. And a few discounted dishes like mushroom flatbread at $ 8 and wasabi shumai at $ 5. This is a tapas southeast Asian fusion restaurant. So I recommend coming with people who are willing to eat family style so you can try more dishes. I went with my girlfriends. Table of 4. Waitress recommended 5 – 6 dishes but we can eat a lot so we ended up ordering 8 lolllss. The Unilocal recommended highlights(curry wedges, tiger prawns, gangnam ribs) are as usual on point. We also ordered mushroom flatbread, wasabi shumai, chicken lettuce wraps, chicken samosas, and an extra order of curry wedges because they were that good. The gangnam rib meat was super tender and came right off the bone. Very well flavored The chicken samosas were crispy with a spicy kick. I honestly loved most of the dishes we ordered except for the wasabi shumai which tasted way too salty. Prices are reasonable, especially when eating family style. With our 8 dishes, our bill came out to be $ 86 for food alone. Split by 4 so about $ 22 a person + tip The restaurant is relatively small and dimly lit creating an intimate somewhat romantic atmosphere. Service was attentive, our waters were quickly refilled. Pro tip: $ 3 cosmos on Wednesdays if you want to sit around gossiping, drinking, & pretending you’re on sex and the city with your girlfriends. Not that we did that or anything…

Ambrosia was my first Tapas restaurant experience. I always thought, why would everyone get small plates and share with each other. If I like my food, I don’t want to share! After experiencing it, those thoughts went out the window. We came with a large group and they were able to accommodate us with a nice table. The waiter explained everything to us and let us know the reverse happy hour was going on at that time. We ordered the mushroom flat bread from the happy hour menu. It was so good that we ordered a second plate. From the same menu we ordered the spicy chicken bites which was also a crowd pleaser. I like spicy and that dish was just right. Another item we ordered that got mixed reviews was the curry wedges. I personally liked them and happily finished off the dish since it did not get much attention. The Korean chicken wings were outstanding. It had a perfect crunch to it and the spicy Korean sauce was delicious. Samosas were just OK. I’m Indian, so I judge Indian food pretty harshly. The most expensive dish we got was the 5 spiced strips, and those too were just OK. The flavor was there, but it was a bit overcooked. I definitely enjoyed my experience here and can’t wait to try other items on their menu!

Cute little quaint spot nestled in a neighborhood. The outside doesn’t do it justice — partly because you can’t really see the sign. I met some friends here for a planning meeting & everyone was calling because they couldn’t find it. Once we all arrived, however, the inside was just lovely. They have an outdoor patio, but it was too cold to sit there so we opted for indoor dining. We sampled several different items, including the Chicken Curry, Korean chicken wings, Curry wedges & crab fried rice. The food was delicious but everyone’s favorite was the Curry Wedges — um um good! I had the White Coconut Sangria and it was also delicious. This would be a cute spot for date night :-)

Went here last night with a large group 10+ When we first entered the restaurant it was valet parking only. The man at the valet said it was $ 3 we unfortunately did not have any cash so we parked on the street which was fine. When we parked and walked in the front of the restaurant it had a lovely little seating area with some tables and warm heaters. Just entering into the area it smelled wonderfully. While we were waiting for our tables to get accommodated(we made reservations) we went inside and ordered a couple drinks. The drink menu is outstanding! My boyfriend loved the«Silk Road tea» he was in heaven! I had the Thai Kiss which was nice. It is also amazing that they somehow had happy hour on a Saturday night until closing ! How awesome! $ 7 cocktails instead of $ 10. The service was excellent. Best service I have had in a while. The group ordered a large selection of tapas. I would have taken pictures but I apologize I was enjoying the food way too much to even take a second for pictures! My boyfriend and I ordered the spinach flatbread which may sound iffy but it was awesome! I also tried some of the others tapas on the table and to be honest you can’t go wrong! My only suggestion would be to ask if something is spicy if you are more sensitive to spicy foods. For dessert we ordered the indian ice cream kahlua with raspberry dressing! TOTALLY recommend. SO delicious. Overall I am so happy by our evening here I don’t know when I will be back in Houston but whenever that is I will for sure be coming back here!

I came here for reverse happy hour on a Friday night and the place was hoppin’! We were about to sit outside with a table of 7 in the July heat, but luckily a space opened up inside. We were seated in a little alcove off to the side, and it was basically couches and a low table. It was so loud inside, and the way we were seated made it pretty much impossible for us to have a conversation. We ordered some drinks and appetizers: the silk road tea, mushroom flatbread, spicy chicken, and gangnam ribs. The mushroom flatbread and gangnam ribs were both good but not mind-blowing. I feel like I can make better ribs at home, especially with the price of $ 14 for 4 little ribs. One of the pieces was really good but the rest of them were kind of dry. The spicy chicken was definitely a disappointment though. It was basically just buffalo chicken bites– there was no Asian fusion flavor at all. The drinks were good though! I may come back to try the steak night Tuesdays, but I don’t think I’ll come back for anything else. I just can’t justify the price for the items here.

Gluten-Free Review I mean if you have 4 stars on Unilocal of course I will try you out, however was nothing short of two stars in my personal own experience. The outside of the building is cool, the patio, the door, the entrance is very elite. However soon as I walked into the restaurant, it smelt like someone left the bathroom door open. Shortly after being seated I asked for all gluten-free options and what was available and explained my allergies. She told me which options I could chose that were gluten free and I said I’d take all of the ones she said which was about 5 items. I also told her NOCILANTRO on anything because it’s disgusting and ruins all the flavors for me, we repeated this twice. The first dish comes out and she explains she was wrong, it’s actually not gluten free and it was served with cilantro. The bartender came over and filled our water and asked for drinks and we chose a few drinks which were decent but I could have made better for the $ 11 price tag. She also does not explain all the dishes in this entire restaurant are on the 100000000 scones level of spiciness. We ordered a medium rare shish ka bob beef thing and it comes out well done, we had to send it back and the bartender came over and apologized and sent us out a new one. We also had the curry which also came with cilantro caked all over it and burns your mouth to death. Every dish we had came out wrong, or either spicy which is our fault yes If you love spicy food you will be happy. Finally we decided not to stay for a dessert and after our mouths were on fire to pay our tab and bail out. We spent over $ 100 and got nothing more than a stomach ache and left still being hungry. If you love spicy food then this is the place for you. However if you are gluten-free and like decent service stay away, as there is no set in stone gluten-free menu and the service we received that night was complete garbage. Props to the bartender for taking control of the situation and providing drinks.

In the dark, it’s easily missed so don’t drive too fast! They have street and valet parking available. Inside has a dark and sultry feeling with deep reds and dim lights. The way the restaurant is sectioned makes it look smaller than it actually is. They have a small private room, but I don’t think you can actually close the doors, if you wanted to host a small event. I came here during happy hour. $ 5 wines and $ 7? Mixed drinks. Their menu option for happy hour is pretty good! We weren’t looking to eat much but I was happy with our selection. Paneer. This is pretty much fried cheese, an Indian dish. I think they put an Asian flare to it with sweet and spicy sauce on it but it was still really good and no, the cheese did not have a strong and overwhelming flavor. Not sure what it is called, but they’re pretty much chicken bites with an Asian BBQ flare. The owner/manager? Let us try a complimentary dish. It was a white fish wrapped in banana leaf with white rice and sauce on the side. I think it was more on the sweet side. Would I come back? Yes!

I’ve been to Ambrosia a couple times now and had good experiences both times. Surprisingly its not been very busy both times. I enjoyed the lamb chops very much. They were very flavorful, but they do come in a tapas size. The mushroom flatbread is delicious! The thai chicken is also not too bad. The brussel sprouts are the best I’ve had, and im not one to enjoy them. I think I would come back just to have these and the lamb chops, thats saying a lot! Parking doesnt seem to be an issue.
