Would not recommend. I work in the same plaza so I frequented this place weekly. Food is average and overpriced for some cookie-cutter Thai food that’s nothing special, but service is terrible. I stopped going there after they gave me a hard time when I tried to use their 10% check in coupon on Unilocal, they made me wait while they call the owner to make sure they’re allowed to give me the 10% off. If you’re closer to another Thai restaurant, I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Nestled away in the Royal Oaks shopping center is a quaint, neighborhood Thai restaurant– Bangkok Chef. My mom and I were in the area for groceries and came across it as we were about to leave. Since it was around dinner time, we figured why not give this place a try?! The restaurant has a Thai-Asian themed décor, with statues around the restaurant and lots of Christmas lights just in time for the holiday season. Part of the restaurant is a mini-grocery store with a limited selection of Thai and Asian cooking goods available for purchase. There were a few families dining in and people coming in for take out. The restaurant is fairly quiet and not noisy at all, making it easy to have a conversation while dining. We sat in a booth and were tended to immediately. Chicken Satay(5⁄5): Perfection in the curry flavor of the delicious grilled chicken skewers; pickled cucumbers and peanut sauce complemented the chicken well Pad Thai(4⁄5): Wow, what a surprise to have great-tasting pad thai that is cooked properly and had the perfect balance of sweet-salty-sour-spicy! It was one of the better pad thai dishes I have tasted in a long time!(Some places mess up in the preparation– you end up with overly sweet and soggy, super chewy or dry noodles). Pad Prik King(3⁄5): Stir-fried green beans and carrots with chili paste; Although the green beans were cooked properly(still maintain their color and crunch factor), the dish was a bit spicier than we expected. There was also a lot of oil collected on the bottom in the dish underneath the green beans, which took away from the flavor of the dish. Service was attentive and friendly. The owner even stopped by to check up on us. Remember to check-in on Unilocal to get 10% off your bill. I would come back again for the pad thai, chicken satay, and perhaps try some of the other Thai dishes. Bangkok Chef is a good option to have for your Thai food fix!

Im not one to complain much as you can read in my reviews but I’m seriously disappointed in the extremely small portion of my $ 17 salad and cup of soup. Not too mention the fact that they made it so spicy that my lips are flaming. I make Thai Chilli pepper sauce with fresh peppers so I can handle hot but I like to enjoy the flavor of my food. So warning medium is like a 9 out of 10. The soup was good and flavorful but 2 shrimp really in a $ 5 cup of soup. Being how I just had to make more salad to add to my salad I will not be coming back here.

Portions could stand to be larger for the cost but the food is delicious! Absolutely delicious. Basil Fried Rice and the Chili & Basil Shrimp are my faves. Disclaimer: Do not order the crab fried rice. Something about the flavor a don’t mesh well.

This place has the best Thai Food I have had in Houston! I frequent this restaurant and will continue. I gave it 4 stars b/c the prices are high for the portions received. The dinner portion will not allow seconds for two people. If the portions were to improve with the same prices my rating would be 5 stars. The pad Thai is superb and the hot pepper and basil is excellent.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Seems like they have more room than actually needed; two bars(only one is functioning) and an upstairs sitting area. The spring rolls are Raj and excellent. The portions are just right and perfect for individual eating. The pad Thai is great; it’s moist, which is rare. Moist often times pad Thai is very dry. Also tried the tiger cry, which was a little too rare for my taste, and not as hot as one would like or expect. Service was great, and they regularly checked and refilled drinks. There was live Thai music.

I used to love coming to this place. I live right across the street and I’m big fan of Thai food. I might be white but I know my Thai food since I have many Thai friends The food is excellent byt going there as a single woman to have a quick bite is a different story. I went there today after 12 hour work day. I felt very uncomfortable and not appreciated. The other people got served before me while I had to wait 30 minutes to get my dumplings. This is not the first time I went through this. The other people were Thai and couples. Surprise! Also there were only two other couples besides me. There were also additional charges on my check that were promptly removed. But still. I recommend doing this maybe as takeout. I am shocked to see this kind of discrimination towards a white woman.

Awesome taste, awesome service, awesome quality, awesome everything. The best Thai food I have ever had. These are the only ones who can make the perfect spice level that I want. Incredible staff, very friendly very respectful. I had a Veggie basil fried rice with extra egg and extra tofu and a plate of crispy spring rolls. Believe me, this will be the most yummiest dinners you would ever have. Try it once.

I stopped by at Bangkok Chef to have Thai food many times and just found out today that they recently added sushi menu! What a great additional options we do have here. I know there are many Thai-Japanese food out there but the reasons I gave this restaurant 5 starts because their special authentic Thai menu that I can’t find in other Thai restaurants. Another thing that I love is the owner never stops bringing new items in the menu so that a plus.

Cool good looking place. Ambience is smooth and cozy if not for the karaōke but its ok! Price is a lil costly but comparable to other nice Asian Fusion which is i really don’t care much! The food are tasty! Tom yum is the yum yum! Calamari? No i don’t really recommend it its heavily breaded and lil greasy. The Drunken Macaroni shrimp is a must try! Somewhat in a furtive strip center if you won’t Unilocal it! Go Unilocal

It’s a shame that I hadn’t been acquainted with Bangkok Chef sooner. This establishment is just down the street from where I work. The staff here are incredible. They were very attentive but they weren’t overbearing. You could tell that they cared about their diners and what they thought about the meal. The interior décor is festive, very festive. It’s an eclectic mix of traditional Thai statues around the bar area and Christmas decorations hanging all around. It had a really nice homey feel to it and the holiday décor was a nice touch. My boyfriend I ordered the fresh spring rolls and calamari as appetizers and split the masamam curry. The fresh spring rolls were average and I wasn’t all too impressed with them. The calamari had a delicious crunch to it — they used a tempura batter and the squid was sliced very thinly. I wanted more of the squid taste form the calamari but since the slices were so thin, I barely got any. The portions for the calmari was also very small — I wasn’t too impressed with it costing $ 8. The masamam curry came out in a hefty portion and was extremely creamy. We were surprised when they didn’t ask how spicy we wanted the curry. We just plopped on a ton of Thai chilies so that we could get the normal spicy Thai kick we wanted. Overall, the food was average. I liked the masamam curry but I wasn’t blown away by a particular entrée or appetizer. I was extremely underwhelmed by the appetizers. However, the service here definitely bumps up my rating from a 3.5 to a 4. I’m a sucker for awesome service and they did an excellent job taking care of their patrons.

I’ve been here for lunch a couple of times and never turn it down when a coworker asks me to join. It’s quick, very clean, and is a good value. I usually get their curries, but the pad thai and the fried rice lunch specials are pretty good, too. The lunch specials come with a salad, soup, and an eggroll with the entrée. The shrimp they use is actually quality fresh shrimp. The mango and sweet rice is great. I haven’t tried it for dinner, but I would think it would taste the same. PS. As with most Thai places, don’t forget to specify spice level. I’m a level 3. If you ask for the spiciest(level 4?), it’s pretty spicy.

Staff: AMAZING! My wife, son and I went to have lunch here. Our son was very young at the time(a few months old) so it was a bit difficult to eat and take care of him at the same time. We’d had to switch back and forth a couple of times. The person that I presume was the manager saw that we were having difficulties so she offered to watch our son for us while we ate. It was AWESOME!!! FOOD: This is one of the best Thai Restaurants I’ve been to in Houston and I’ve been to many. No, Nit Noi was never on that list in my opinion. I’m sure that most people haven’t tried Thai noodle soups as most places either doesn’t server it or it just simply sucks, but the ones here are pretty darn good. I’ve tried a number of items on their menus(and even some off menu) and it was all great. So good in fact, that I plan on having dinner here for my birthday which is this coming weekend.

The staff is super friendly and attentive! I love their hospitality. Their food is authentic and reasonably priced. Never really packed so a quiet/average noise level. Dress code, casual or dressy, it doesn’t matter. The place is beautiful. I give this rating based on customer service.
