I’ve been going to this store off-and-on for long mainly because they sell a certain kitchen product that is not sold in any stores.(Yes, I know that I can buy it online nowadays, but that’s not the point.) Today, I went there to buy a trimmer. After explaining to one of the employees about a certain brand, he referred to another employee who was an expert of the brand and product. His name was John, by the way, and boy did he know his stuff(compared to the bad experience I received at another small business last weekend)! John answered all my questions without making me feel dumb and/or awkward. I ended up buying the trimmer(and some other accessories)! I’ve never had a bad experience here since patronizing the store and aforementioned proves it!

I come here for the U.S. Post Office. Everyone there is extremely helpful but Beck always goes above and beyond. He’s solved so many shipping problems for me it is unreal. Nice hardware store as well and the helpfulness is apparently contagious!

This place was my favorite local hardware store. Unfortunately, that all changed after two of the grumpy old men working there tried to angrily push me out of the store five minutes prior to closing after letting me know how they had been there for so long that day. …Apparently, they also kept track of how long I was there, too, because they let me know how long I had been looking at hose fittings(«you’ve been standing there for an hour, make a choice or come back tomorrow) and that if I didn’t make a choice soon that I’d have to come back another day. Thanks for the help, guys, but don’t worry; I won’t ask for Ace Hardwares help at any other point. Just go to Lowes. Don’t expect any small business customer service here.

My family have moved to Montrose area few days ago. Living in a new house requires a lot of remodeling and work itself. Yesterday we’ve stopped by this amazing store to buy some paint. The workers there are just awesome and very helpful. I have forgotten the name of this guy but he recommended to buy 100% acrylic paint and we was right! This is what we needed exactly! I am extremely happy to find this store because we will need to buy more materials in the next few weeks and when you come here you know for sure that these guys know what to recommend. I was a little bit upset for the fact of very high prices but in the end its totally worth it!

I like this place especially for the not so common items you may come to need around the house, I found out today that they offer sharpening for mostly anything, certainly going to utilize this offer since lawn mowing season is almost here.

I never expected to write a rave review about a hardware store, but I had such a great experience buying Benjamin Moore paint and supplies that I want to recommend them. Very helpful, knowledgable and friendly staff and nicely run store. Well worth the drive!

I came here after I moved from Chicago to Houston to get a few things for my new home. Turns out that they do have a lot of new things that you could pick from and you could choose almost everything from grills to decorating your home excetera. The pricing is pretty great and definitely worth the quality of the goods. I have been to buy a new fridge here along with a new grill stove and a lot of other things that made my home look great. I will definitely be coming back here to check out what new things they have in store once in awhile.

For a home improvement store, this Ace store is as good as it gets. Yes, you can always go to a Home Depot or a Lowe’s(for your own sake, please don’t ever go to Lowe’s) but the people that work at these stores probably don’t really care much about you want, much less what you need. If you’re lucky, a Home Depot or a Lowe’s employee might approach you and ask you what you need, but more than likely, they’ll just ignore you. However, every single time I step foot into this Ace, someone ALWAYS approaches me and ask me what I’m looking for, or what I’m working on so they can help out. For someone who’s not a very savvy DIYer, this is super freaking awesome. One example was when I needed paint for my door jamb. I had gone to Home Depot MULTIPLETIMES and every single time someone in the paint department managed to screw things up(lost my sample for matching, tried to match but produced a totally different color, etc) and so I came to Ace. Not only the person helping me was super awesome in trying to help me match the paint, he also explained the different kind of paint available(water base, latex base, etc) and what would be best for my little project. He definitely wasn’t trying to push the most expensive product to me because the paint he recommended to me was actually cheaper than the one I was thinking about purchasing. The only downside about this Ace is the pricing. Since it’s a smaller store and I guess since it’s more personal, then the pricing here is more expensive. You could liken this to going to a Walmart vs. going to a little convenient store. When I need to buy something quick for a little project, then Ace is definitely a go-to place for me. It should be yours as well.

I was a bit skeptical about the rave reviews this place had, I mean how awesome can a hardware store really be, right? Turns out pretty freaking awesome. First off I wouldn’t even label it hardware so much as homeware; I mean you can get literally anything you might need for your home here, and I’d recommend that you do because they have a pretty wide selections and offer great brands. They sell craftsman tools, for example, which for me was a huge plus. I planned on buying a grill from here so I called first, about an hour before, and checked to make sure they had it in stock. The guy on the phone asked me my name but I didn’t think anything of it. Well when we went in a bit later I was in the grill section and a guy walked up and said«Are you Michael? We already loaded up the grill you asked for, it’s ready for you whenever you are.» What customer service! They went ahead and set aside a grill that I was MAYBE going to buy, just to make sure that it would be there for me and I could get in and out if I decided to get it. I will definitely be going back here on a regular basis instead of Home Depot or Lowes.

Very friendly and helpful staff at this Ace. They are patient, happy to answer questions and provide suggestions. I for one appreciate the more senior workforce at this location and their dedication to delivering customer service is obvious. The store is well stocked and well maintained. It is a pleasure to shop here.

Love this place. They have a post office with extremely helpful staff and barely ever a line. They also have a really fun gift area with random but nice kitchen/garden/décor accessories. Then and last but not least, their staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. They are willing to talk to you about what you are looking for and help you get exactly what you need. They also seem to take pride in remembering their customers. We’ve been working on our yard/garden and they remember us when we come in and are always happy to help us find the right tools/materials for the job.

Since the owner of the Ace Hardware on N. Gessner refused to take my online order back(return) after 2 attempts, I had to visit this one as Corporate told me that they were willing to help me with the return! The owner(Luther) was super duper nice!!! I apologized for the trouble and he said no biggie! Obviously, he cared about customer service not like the moron owner on N. Gessner. I got a coupon from the Entertainment Book. They honored it without hesitation. The store was very nice and clean. I would definitely shop with them again in the future. This location also comes with a USPS store. So, if you need to mail something, just do it over there. It’s even better than Bering’s down the street. The price seemed reasonable.

What makes this hardware store better than all the rest? Having an «Ace» up your sleeve — such as a contract post office hidden in the back. I feel a little guilty telling you about this since I want to keep it hush-hush but I just cannot resist. Checking out furniture and flooring stores Saturday, I spotted this place on busy Westheimer Road in the Westchase district as I trawled the neighborhood. Given that it was quite large, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized and parked the car. [Yes, I can be a size queen sometimes.] There’s a relatively smaller USPS sign next to their marquee and you’ll find the full-service unit in the back. The most important detail is that they are open on Saturdays from 9AM to 2PM(weekday hours are unknown to me). No lines. You ring the bell and one of the Ace Hardware staff will come to the counter to help you out. Being such the shopping stalker that I am, I lurked in the air filter aisle until a customer approached, rang the bell, and I observed their interactions through the gaps in the boxes. Sort of a Dian Fossey(Sigourney Weaver) from«Gorillas in the Mist» — except it was me watching postal action in captivity. The overall vibe was to remind me of a old-time country store where you could pick up your mail, buy some hardware, and chat with the locals. When I wandered the non-labyrinthine aisles looking for some US flags, a cheery worker asked me if I needed help — and quickly directed me to the right aisle. Later, another man asked if I was finding everything I needed. I also saw yet another staff member help another customer with some paint — then ask about his family. If you’ve ever been to Bering’s, this place is very similar with the clean aisles, selection of hardware, paint, and general household goods. But, no frou-frou stationery or assortment of coffee beans like at Bering’s. There is also the plumped-up ratio of staff to help you and they are trained to reach out in a cheerful manner. For those of you wanting a «leave you the heck alone Best Buy» experience, you won’t get it here — but they aren’t pushy in the least. Overall, I can see myself making a trip well outside of my own neighborhood to use the post office, buy some hardware, and enjoy the friendliness. But, if I see you lurking in the air filter aisle, I’ll know what you’re up to.

While raking up the leaves yesterday at the house, I realized that I did not have something with which I could scoop the leaves up and get them into the trash can quickly without it being a big, big hassle. I had a hay-pitchfork, but it disappeared some time ago. Naturally, I thought the local hardware store would have such a thing. My first thought, of course, was the Home Depot, but Dad suggested a place closer to home: the Ace Hardware within walking distance of the house. About five minutes later, we walked in the door of the business and made straight for the pitchforks, but were disappointed to find they were not of the long-tonged variety suitable for leaves and pine needles. We were just about to leave when none other than the manager himself noticed us and asked if we needed anything. He turned out to be a very nice man who seemed to know his stuff. When I told him about the leaves, he immediately chimed in, «Oh, you’re looking for a hay pitchfork with tongs this wide.» He said they did not have anything like that, but he did have something else: the Poly Leaf Scooper which had been hanging on the wall next to the unusable pitchforks. Had it been a rattlesnake, it would have bitten me. This Ace location opened in May 2007 and is slowly building a following based partly on the fact it is not Home Depot or Lowe’s where the parking lots and building logistics are such that even the simplest shopping lists are, like Wal-Mart, a big production. This Ace Hardware was easy to get in and out of. We got out of the car and ten seconds later, we were in the store and in the section of stuff for which we were searching. The staff are very courteous, and as for the Poly Leaf Scoopers, they work like a charm. Leaves are no more a problem and hassle, and picking them up is easier than it even was with the old hay pitchfork. This place turned out to be the Ace of Spades.
