First time here on Sunday 24th, ’16…I got Chicken Vindaloo and water this came out to about $ 11.90… Seemed reasonable. When I first walked in there was nobody to greet you at the door so I wasnt sure if i self seat my self or I get seated. Either way I walked in and started walking toward a table then a waiter saw me and pointed where to sit. I did wait about 10 minutes before I got my food, I was a little bothered by the fact that some one came in a bit after me and they got their food first. He was indian, was it a biased thing? I dunno, but that did stand out. Other than that I had to wave a few people down just to get my check so I can pay. I would like to say the waiter was attentive, but he was not. Either way I probably would visit again, reasonable price and the food was good. Visited January 2016

The biryani was mediocre and unmemorable. Their other dishes like their soups were extremely bland, watered down and despite getting to choose(and pay for) chicken or goat, the soups had 1 piece of bone with no meat on it. The service was awful. The water came half filled with no ice. It took forever, at 4PM during slow hours(and they were fully staffed). No one came and brought the check and upon having us go up and hand them the credit card, they just took it with no apologies as if we were supposed to go track the right waiter down and pay. Skip this place, and go to and drive 3 minutes to 59 and Hilcroft for proper Mahatma Gandhi district food.

I recommend trying it at least once to check it out. The food itself was pretty good, but hard for me to say it’s the best or better than other places in town, and for that I will give it 3 instead of 4 or 5. Here’s some cons: parking lot is small and awkward. They had 2 or 3 reserved spots directly in front, and someone standing there(seemingly full time) to make sure no one else parks there unless going to the restaurant. Seemed weird when I pulled up… luckily we got one of the reserved spots. 2nd main thing… not sure if they are rude, don’t feel like talking, or don’t speak well in general… but the vibe feels to me like they are rude. The food was good, but was it good enough to outweigh the cons???

The name brings watering in the mouth but if one is vegetarian one can probably not enjoy the way a non veg eater would do. Agree the biryani the way made brings out the required flavor but does not to justice to the veg biryani. Being vegetarian our expectation was bit high and turned out to be below expectation. Staff is friendly and helpful.

This place is disgusting. The waiter stuck his thumb in the pot of rice while putting it on my table I have made a video of this and posted it on Unilocal. They serve food with the same dirty gloves that they clean the place with. While you are eating there is a cart of dirty dishes and dirty water going around the restaurant picking up customers dishes from the tables. This practice is similar as that of villages in third world countries. The people eating there probably have very low standards of hygiene. Just go there any night and you will experience what I have mentioned. I wish the health inspector would pay them a visit.

This place was recommended to me by a Middle Eastern colleague, but failed to live up to my expectations. I’m from South Africa, which has the 2nd largest population in the world of Indians so you get some of the best Indian cuisine there. To come to this place was a complete fail. I ordered their medium spicy chicken Briyani on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm as a take out. They made me wait 10min for my order, so you’d think you’re getting a ‘made fresh to order’ meal. When I arrived home & saw the meal, it didn’t look appetizing(dry) & the Briyani wasn’t made with fresh spices. They use spice powders and don’t submerge/infuse the rice with the base during cooking. So you literally get rice and drizzles of the curry with the meat. Also I only got chicken drumsticks in the curry, which is different from the chicken breast pieces you usually get & if tender indicate that it was slow cooked in the curry. The fact that they needed to serve a ‘sauce’ tub with this meal, shows that it lacks moisture. I’ll give them credit that even though they used short cut methods, the flavor was fair & I did get my medium spicy heat level. But other than that, the London Sizzler, Indika & Pondicheri still serve up better tasting Indian cuisine. Still looking for a great Briyani spot though…

Hands down the best biryani I’ve had in Houston. Trust me when i say this cuz I’ve tried a lot of Indian places for biryani before but this one lives up to its name. And also the Gobi Manchurian(Cauliflower appetizer) was simply perfect. Well done !!

My friend picked up dinner for us today… I ordered the chicken biryani and she ordered the butter chicken. Her chicken did not come with rice. The biryani was good until I found little white hairs in it… We ordered buttered naan and only got regular naan. The mango lassis were delicious though. This was my first time trying Indian food, and I would definitely have it again, just not at this spot.

Yep, I’m a fan. I have been here quite a few times and haven’t been disappointed. Love the chicken biriyani and the new renovations! This place gets pretty packed, so keep that in mind; but don’t let the crowd deter you– get your order to go!

Not a big fan. I ordered takeout and had the chicken 65, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. The biryani was very fragrant and the chicken was super tender. I liked it; it’s not the best I’ve had, but it’s decent. The chicken 65 was a bit too chewy and not remotely«crisp» like I’ve come to expect. The garlic naan smelled great, but the garlic was pretty raw and had a bitter taste. Basically, I’ve had better.

Best biriyani I’ve ever had in the US, hands down. I usually get it to-go, on a lazy sunday afternoon. Settle down on the couch and devour it with the TV on.

Good service goes a long way, and this place does not have it. It took us forever to even get water. We then ordered 3 goat biriyani, 1 chicken biriyani, and potato samosas. We waited a good 45 min and asked the waiter a few times what was going on with our order. On a good note, the food was great, but is it worth the wait? Questionable. We then ordered the naan, and the courteous thing they could’ve done is take care of it for us, and it seemed like our waiter understood what needed to be done, but when we got the check he charged us. We got the naan taken off our bill but it took some complaining. I’m sure they know what needs to be done, since they have a help wanted sign on their door, but this needs to be fixed quick or they’ll lose a lot of business All in all, I’d say come here for good food but order take out.

If it wasn’t for the service I would give this place 5 stars. This place is either understaffed or just too overcrowded… I am unsure, but be prepared to WAIT for your food after you order. We waited so long I had enough time to power nap… seriously. The naan here is excellent, but not 100% consistent in crispy, sometimes it comes out half cooked and soggy similar to other places I have eaten in Houston. We ordered a paneer, some masala, and manchurian style cauliflower. I have never had cauliflower prepared similarly but WOW. The flavor hit home and the shocking news was that it wasn’t even chicken! I will be coming back for the cauliflower in the future.

OMG — what awesome food you have Biryani Pot! From your princely Biryani, to your fantastic garlic naan, to the other awesome dishes, this is a fantastic place for Indian. I’ve been all over Houston — looking for fresh, awesome and fantastic Indian. This is your place. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a carnivore, you can find SOMETHING on this menu you can eat. My Suggestions? Any of their Biryani. goat, chicken, veggie — ALL of it is good. Veggie Pakora — onions and peppers coated in chickpea flour and deep fried. A gift from the gods. Goat chops from heaven — little baby goat chops in spices and served up with onions. Stay away from the Tandoori Chicken — it was mostly dry. Was hoping that it was going to be awesome like almost everything on the menu, but it wasn’t. So, why just 4 stars? well, one, the service can be slow — and if its a Friday or Saturday, forget trying to get a table. There are probably less than 20 tables in the place, so it gets crowded and you might have to wait 30 mins to get a table. Other than that, GO! Get your butt over here and enjoy some of the best Indian that I have found in Houston.

I’m giving Biryani Pot a 4 instead of 5 because this was my first Indian Food experience so I don’t have anything to compare it to. HOWEVER I LOVEDIT!!! It was so good. My boyfriend and I ordered 5 things so we could try a little bit of everything. We got goat, chicken curry, garlic naan, shrimp biryani, and chicken padka. It was all fresh, hot, delicious, homemade and worth every bite! I’m so glad it’s close to me, so I can pick it up on the way home!

Chicken korma: –medium spicy, it was okay … Chicken biryani: –the place is called biryani pot so why not have biryani right? The chicken was«fall off the bone tender» topped with rice, pictures below. Spicy sauce on side too. Wish I had a little more white rice to balance out the flavor. I didn’t really even have to use any excessive force to separate the chicken(you know because I have muscles! =P) Basil Garlic nhan: –taste like puréed garlic mixed with possibly butter, and a tad of olive oil & basil. Not bad, but want to try more nhan I love that stuff! Cheese nhan: reminds me of a cheese quesadilla, I love those! You’ll enjoy it if you love cheese! I wasn’t that thrilled to come here per some previous bad reviews. Parking isn’t that great due to limited parking in the front. Supposedly more parking in the rear. Located close to nail shop and not too far down from miyako. Limited seating, maybe like 6 – 8 tables total. Friendly and attentive staff, they’ll keep your water full!
