We had a delightful dinner at this cozy little restaurant. When we sat down, I knew it was going to be good, as I heard multiple people speaking with French accents(customers and staff). The cuisine is southern French, so there are some Italian influences, such as pasta. We started with the pork pâté and escargot, both of which were delicious. And they serve piping hot bread with olive oil before the meal, which was great. I had the almond trout – the trout was pan seared and topped with sliced almonds and then served with mashed potatoes and green beans. A simply prepared meal at its best.

Quaint bistro, sized right for an intimate experience. First visit there was for my birthday and am wanting to go back. Seasonal dishes, exceptional wine and knowledgeable, helpful staff!

I hate to post this but my hubby and I ate there yesterday and both of us are dealing with stomach issues. The only we both ate was the salad so that may be the culprit. We are both very MSG intolerant not sure if the lettuce was treated or not. Food tasted okay but in the cold light of day today we won’t be returning.

We have eaten here many times in the past and found it to be excellent. However last night we were disappointed, my wife had the heirloom lobster salad and the lobster was tough and tasted fishy and there was only two small slices of tomatoes. We complained to the waiter and he took it away and did not offer anything else nor to take it off the bill. The service seems to have gone downhill since the last time we were there.

Excellent food, service, ambiance and reasonably priced. My only complaint is there is no handicap parking as there is no ramp. Probably a violation of ADA. A complaint will be filed. The people in the restaurant blamed the owner as he will not add a ramp. As good as it was, I will not be back. Too difficult in trying to navigate the step. The staff could have offered some muscle power but did open the door

Bistro Provence is a VERY authentic, small french restraunt tucked on Memorial. For a light Tuesday lunch(so to say) my mother and I decided to order the Bistro Salad. To start us off, we got the usual bread with olive oil dip, which wasn’t anything too special but the bread was light and crunchy. The service was good(to french standards) but the salad was absolutely amazing. It was light, which was great for the 106 degree weather, but didn’t leave you craving for more. The sautéed onions really pulled together the whole salad. Expecially with the cozy French ambience, it was one of the best lunches that I’ve had here in Houston. For all of us foodies, it’s a place to definetly check off of your list.

We enjoyed some of their specialties like the bouillabaisse and goat cheese ravioli with giant scallops, that wow-ed us. We enjoyed the service staff who was sweet and good at her job. I was just not too impressed with apple pie for it’s price and when the top pastry layer was rather burnt covered with icing sugar we asked if that was norm — It returned to us just scraped off so I guess that was the last piece and it didn’t create the best experience.

This restaurant has gone to the dogs, the meal my husband and I had last night was not even deserving of 1 star. My starter was uncooked mussles, which I promptly returned, when I finally got noticed by the waiter. Staff was very young and inexperienced, not a friendly face to be seen. Later when approached by the owner about the uncooked mussles, she did not understand my complaint became extremely rude, would not even listen to anything I said. Guess we interrupted her family dinner on the patio… needless to say we shall not be returning. As we drove away her male companion flipped us off, nice gesture thanks for the send off…

This is an adorable french bistro, tucked away on Memorial. The food is A-plus and if you are a foodie, this a deal. So what is the catch? The service can be horrendous for Houston standards. If you have ever been to France, the service is perfect — absolutely standard. It is still one of my favorites. It is like a piece of France in the middle of Houston. :) :)

I can’t believe this place has 4 stars. Chef Ramsey needs to take this restaurant over.

I used to be the biggest fan of Bistro Provence — until my most recent visit. Allow me to sum things up quickly and focus on making this post a HUGE warning to those wanting to try this restaurant: –Poor food quality: lobster shells in the bisque, stone cold and raw fish entrée, bland desserts. –Rude staff who rushes you through the meal and makes you feel like an inconvenience. During this visit we were not greeted with a single smile or cheerful tone. Everyone just wants you to eat and leave! Don’t dare make a suggestion or a complaint if your food is not the way you like it because you will get ignored. –Unprofessional management who will spend their time drinking and kissing their significant other outside instead of paying attention and making sure the business is run properly. Before deciding to post this review I wanted my experience to be known to the owner, Geneviève, with the hopes that she would make some corrective changes to help her business or ATLEAST offer an apology. I wasn’t expecting a refund, just an apology. So I sent her an email detailing the event and letting her know that we did not want to make this opinion known to the public. What I got in return was a completely rude, defensive email attacking ME as a patron. Accusing me of being hard to please and referencing some comment I never made. Fair warning to all of you out there — this business is run with absolutely no professional decency and the food is not worth the money you will pay. GOSOMEWHEREELSE!

My husband & I dined here yesterday. The atmosphere was cozy & I was surprised by how small the place was. The service was friendly & prompt but the food was just ok. I ordered the bistro pizza & it was nothing to write home about. My husband ordered one of the specials(can’t really remember what it was) & he was not impressed. Dessert was good but again, I’ve had better at other establishments. The staff was friendly, the service was attentive but we were not exactly blown away by our experience. Maybe it was of off night?

Luncheon perfection. Go, be treated well, eat well. Honestly, there is very little to say about this restaurant because the experience was so superlative. Proficient service that displayed the waiter’s knowledge and solid training. Trout with beurre blanc was prepared to perfection. The ratatouille was warm and aromatic as it should be, but the vegetables were not overcooked. Rather, they retained a certain meatiness if not crunch. The coffee served by the bistro is rich without being harsh, rather nutty actually. If I lived in this neighborhood, the reasonable prices would cause me to eschew most other lunchtime options nearby.

My husband and I decided to dine at Bistro Provence on Memorial dr. Oct25th. We arrived at 5:00pm early Saturday evening without reservations due to the restaurants policy of NOT taking reservations. We got to the restaurant 5minutes prior to the rest of our party. The server would not seat us and I was asked to sit outside dressed nicely in 88degree weather in the afternoon sun. The manager also came out with an inhospitable tone and slightly argumentative saying we couldn’t be seated because other customers have said that remaining parties were said to arrive shortly and didn’t in the past. The entire restaurant was empty and we were not offered a table. My party arrived within 5minutes of our arrival and we decided to leave and go to Le Mistral on Eldridge.

I hate to give three stars to this restaurant that’s been around for a long time and it seems to be popular. We had a reservation for 7 p.m. Our food didn’t arrive until 8:30 p.m. They were aware of the delay as they apologized twice. People sitting close to us came after us and were served before us. My salad Nicoise was nothing to write home about. The potatoes in it were under done. I’ve had better. The bread is delicious as well as this lemon and chocolate tarte. Tables are tight.

Impressive menu, wine list and service. My colleague had been here several times before but this was a first for me. Our server spoke, and I think most of the staff speaks, both English and French, which for a bistro in the US. is quite nice. The décor is French country and actually if I woke up there and didn’t know better(could happen), I’d be convinced I really was over the pond. I can’t think of a single negative for Bistro Provence. I’m quite chuffed about this find in Houston — très bon!

We used to dine regularly at this Memorial spot until about a year or so go when the food quality nose dived. We decided to give it another chance because the ambiance, especially during cooler weather, has also been nice. Unfortunately we should have heeded the recent reviews, as it continued to disappoint. I ordered the crab cakes to start and though they did have a decent amount of crab they were greasy and clearly under seasoned. For my entrée I tried the ravioli which several other reviewers were positive about. I think a great ravioli should stand on it’s own. These were served on a bed of poorly prepared eggplant cubes and topped with what was obviously frozen scallops. Yuck! The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is that there wine list, though considerably shorter, still holds up.

Cute little French restaurant in the Energy Corridor. Vendors love to take me to «little gems» or «great finds» for lunch because they know I’m a Unilocaler. — Who’s better to show you new places than Sales people who entertain clients for a living? Also when I say little… I mean it. They can probably seat 30 people max and that’s really pushing it. The tables are right next to each other. If you fart, the person at the other table will know it. Don’t do it. Appetizer: Squash & Potato Soup(creamy and tasty — very good!) Main Meal: Beef Tenderloin Tips w/Potato au Gratin & Green Beans(Rich flavors of garlic butter(LOVE) but it was cold when they served it – 1 star deducted for this.) Dessert: Cappacino(perfectly foamed) The Goat Cheese Salad & Pork Chops looked really good. Will have to come back and try that next time. Service was quick and friendly. The server was actually French which I’m sure was just a coincidence but still very cool.

Quaint and charming French country style bistro, with complementary menu, to include thick lamb chops, traditional beef stew, seasonal risottos, ratatouille, and rilletes. Seasonal specials currently encompass a beautiful lobster bisque, well prepared and seasoned; a veal chop sautéed with mushrooms in bacon fat, which was recommended medium, but served slightly medium well; a raspberry tarte, a creamy and delicious perfection. The wine list is well priced, non-pretentious, and a balance of French labels that provides the diner with variety. The owners are very knowledgeable and can provide direction for those who have little experience with the region. A great date spot. Would not recommend for small children.
