Awesome place if you’re like me and need a banh mi fix often but don’t want to drive down to Chinatown on the torn up roads. The place is clean, the service is friendly and fast, and the sandwiches are delicious and made right. Nuff said.

The banh mi and Vietnamese coffee are decent, but the prices leave something to be desired. There are several places in midtown and Montrose which offer better Vietnamese food for a lower cost, so it’s hard to say we’ll be eating here again soon. Also, the poached egg was straight up hard-boiled, which was kind of disappointing :/

I only tried their combination banh mi and it actually pretty good. I can’t expected it to be as good as the one in Chinatown but it definitely satisfied my craving. The tapioca drink is ok. Kinna bland and tapioca is a bit chewy. Combo is about $ 9(sandwich and a smoothie)

I only ordered an iced coffee and it was pretty good. I received helpful and friendly service, and from what I have heard, this place has excellent sandwiches as well.

The banh mi is so gross. Bread isn’t fresh and the ingredients are bland and thrown together poorly. Spring rolls were limp and the sauce was so watery. Haven’t tried the drinks, but I’ll never come back

I am truly addicted to their bahn mi! The tofu and poached egg version hits the spot every time! Satisfies my cravings without having to make a trek to the Chinatown area. The drinks aren’t amazing, but I’m not complaining. :) Great little spot and I’ll keep coming back. Got the hubby addicted to this place as well ;)

I lived right down the street from this place last year so I ate here all the time. This did the trick when I needed to get something to eat 20 minutes before class but that’s about it. Owner is real nice but the food leaves much to desire. — Pork is way too fatty. Some of my bites were literally just fat. This happened pretty consistently. — Bread could be better. Not as airy and flakey as some other vietnamese places. I suggest they pay up and get their bread from French Riviera. — Sandwiches often are heavy on the butter. Tasty, yes, healthy, not so much. — Pickled vegetables could be pickled a little longer. — Prices are a little high for vietnamese If you are in the area and craving some banh mi, it’s worth a visit, though it’s not a destination. I suggest that the owner refocus the sandwich prep to bring more customers in. Things like the Belly rewards card are not going to cut it – especially since you have to visit like 10 times to get, what is it, a free drink?

Holy cow I went here one day after trick or treating with my nephews and I was pretty shocked how slow this place operated and how expensive it was. We ordered 5 sandwiches and 2 smoothies. It took 30 minutes to get ready. The guy seemed to be the only employee but it wasn’t packed. 2 other customers. Banh mi was ok but totally not worth it if it’s gonna take that long. I had my 2 exhausted nephews with me.

Divey, hole in the wall place… two doors down from a tailor that I frequent. Atmosphere is mad casual, sandwiches are small and kinda skimpy on the meat. I got the shredded chicken and felt like it was just ‘ok’. Also ordered the avocado smoothie other Unilocalers raved about and it was ‘ok’…bottom line: this place isn’t going to knock your sox off or blow away your expectations of a delicious Vietnamese sandwiches. Final thought: I would highly recommend les givral’s sandwich & café if you’re looking for bombastic and authentic Vietnamese goodness!

I noticed this place tucked in the corner of the strip mall next to a psychic after visiting the tailor a couple doors down. If I had stopped for a palm reading on the way over, my fortune might have foreshadowed my impending disappointment. While I had low expectations from the plain storefront, I was pleasantly surprised once I stepped inside and cordially greeted by the cashier. A few other reviewers described the shop as «cute,» which I take to roughly translate to «low square footage and aesthetically pleasing.» The rail lighting and lacquered benches indicate some measure of effort to make the place presentable. I wanted to play it safe like a bank, so I just ordered the BBQ pork sandwich and a jasmine green tea. Unfortunately, this bank wasn’t very secure. The meat was marinated differently here than most other places, but it still tasted good with a slight sweetness to it. However, it was sliced thicker than it should have been; pork belly is way too tough a cut for anyone to be chewing through ¾″ chunks of it. Furthermore, the sandwich seemed to be built lengthwise rather than vertically. I began my gastronomical journey in meat-and-cilantro country and then, a couple inches later, I found myself smack dab in the middle of fat-and-jalapeño-ville. The baguette wasn’t thick enough to carry me to soft-and-chewy city. Ce n’est pas bon! On the bright side, the jasmine green tea was light and refreshing(especially so on a humid Houston afternoon). I would not have minded if the tea had steeped longer for more flavor. You may specify how much sweetener is added, an option not always available at tea houses. I gave the combination sandwich and Thai tea a try on a separate occasion and they, perhaps unsurprisingly, yielded the same result. [Insert«definition of insanity» cliché] I might return in the future for happy hour drinks when I have cash as there is a $ 5 minimum purchase if paying with plastic.

Craving a pork banh mi sandwich and found this place; it came thru in a pinch. Not a place you’d want to go to if seeking something where you want to sit down and have a meal. Definitely more of a lunch order and take out kind of place — the Subway of Vietnamese lunch options: not the most exciting, but its convenient, cheap, and will adequately satisfy your appetite.

Meeh… is the 1 word review for this place if I had my way; but I’ll contribute a decent review for my fellow Unilocalers sake I drove out of the way to try this spot since I was craving milk tea for the second time this week. I asked for plain milk tea with light ice: the tea was definitely jasmine flavored when I tried it(after I drive off of course). I also purchased the BBQ banh mi and it was just ok, I’ve had better… the baguette was great but I was continuously distracted by the cilantro stems… so many of them. :/ Pros: Fast service Happy hour on drinks 4−7p Fresh veggies/toppings Cons: Pricy Limited menu(for milk teas) Hard & chewy tapioca A little difficult to find(tucked in a corner next to a psychic store front)

Really yummy avocado smoothie! Get it! I didn’t get a banh mi, but my friend’s did. They complained that there was not enough meat for the price.

I wanted to give this place more stars, but I just couldn’t do it. I had the avocado smoothie and bbq pork banh mi. It was just mediocre but I’m sure it does well during lunch so I can’t hate in that sense. The pork was a bit tough for me and its not because I’m a lazy masticater. The bread also came out over toasted which needed me to crush the bread even more before eating it. Maybe when I am in the area again and 2 minutes from death via starvation, I would give it another chance. But don’t let that deter you from trying this place. I wish for it to do well and hopefully, the pork will be more tender next time.

I had a shredded chicken baguette. It’s small and perfect for a snack; however, it’s nothing to write home about. It had something spicy on it. Gotta give them credit for the fresh veggies on it. I need to try their avocado smoothie which someone raved about on Facebook.

Iffy from the outside, but I gave this place a try for the first time today. Wasn’t expecting much but my sandwich was absolutely delicious. I got the BBQ pork and it was tender and flavorful, you could tell it was simmered in spices, and the jalapeños packed a nice kick. Slightly smaller but much better than the one I got at Les Givral’s Kahlve on Washington a few days(however, the phở there is great!).

My husband and I decided to check out Bön Baguette for a quick lunch to-go since my place of employment was offering 15% off for employees. I’m glad we were doing to-go, because eating in here holds no appeal for me. It’s small and dark and what tiny amount of natural light would be let in through the front window is blocked by signs and a large bar. I grabbed 2 orders of shrimp spring rolls and the merry berry smoothie, and my husband got a BBQ pork bahn mi. The smoothie was good and on par in taste and value with other Vietnamese tapioca smoothies I’ve had. The spring rolls were OK, but a little gummy and sticky. I know, it’s a rice paper wrapper filled with rice noodles, but these can be done without the stickiness. They each had 3 shrimp and were mostly rice noodles. They included cucumber(YUCK) so I had to pick that out. They didn’t include bean sprouts or mint which I do enjoy and missed. Overall, I wouldn’t get these again as I have made them much better at home. The peanut sauce was out of a bottle and tasted too much like pure peanut butter. My husband liked his sandwich, but said it couldn’t hold a candle to Don Café or Les Givrals. Both our smoothie and our sandwich was made quickly. With our 15% discount, our total was just over $ 12. For the location, the food quality and taste, the sandwiches are priced .75 — $ 1 too high, and the smoothies are where they make mucho profit.

This is the only place that has Vietnamese sandwiches near where I live, so I thought I’d give them a try. I live in Meyerland and even though this place is a dollar more than other Vietnamese sandwiches, it comes out cheaper what with gas. I’d gone there with a friend of mine before and sampled a smoothie. Their smoothies are absolutely delicious. I ordered a pâté bahn mi(sandwich)and it was so small. For $ 3.25? They didn’t use french bread, they used something else. The sandwich was small, there wasn’t very much filling, and they didn’t have fountain drinks — only bottled and canned. I felt extra cheated. Getting a sandwich, chips, and a drink was like a snack — not a real lunch. Next time I want a Vietnamese sandwich I’ll wait until I’m around Midtown. The positives are the great smoothies and the friendly guy that works there. But it’s like most of the places in the area — made to appeal to white yuppie types. Other Vietnamese places like in SW Houston and Midtown appeal to Asians as well.
