Very nice establishment. We went when there was a live band who were great. There wasn’t much of a food selection but the food that I ordered(Chicken tenders) were good. There is a cover charge after 8 pm.

I went 3 weeks ago. I actually kinda liked the place. The staff was very friendly, the drinks were strong but I probably won’t go back because the music was way too loud. I couldn’t get comfortable or relax or hear anybody at my table. This place may work as a café but certainly not conducive to chillin’ and listing to jazz/blues

Omg this place is AHHHHMAZING!!! We had the cutest bartender who was gorgeous and gave us great drinks. I forgot her name but she had blue hair and the best makeup I’ve ever seen she was so pretty! The inside of this jazz lounge is sooooo nice and clean. Dressed with tons of gorgeous paintings. The band was so phenomenal. Such great talented men who played tonight. The staff were so nice and friendly. I wish we didn’t eat before we came so we could try all the food. The people inside were sooooo welcoming and I hugged one of the gentlemen inside for being so kind to me! I think he was a regular or a manager. He was older and sooooo sweet. I wish we lived in Houston to come here more. Such great drinks, talent, and amazing people and music. I love this place!

I’m not sure of where to start with this review. I know… parking around here is a beast. Cross your fingers and hope you don’t get towed while visiting. Let’s move on to the the entrance. I was pleasantly greeted by some old playas outside the door… cool. We walked in and paid the dancing hostess. Walking in can be a little intimidating as you don’t know if you should sit or stand. There was a small dance floor as soon as you walk in. Ordering drinks was not too difficult as the patrons were nice enough to let my boyfriend squeeze in. We moved on back towards the patio which was the highlight for me. There is a cigar bar back there along with plenty of comfy seating. We didn’t order any food, but our drinks were ok and the DJ did a good job. We didn’t stay very long, but it was a cool drop in spot on date night.

I went again to Fist Friday and the air conditioner was out. The ladies bathroom was so hot that your hair style fell down. The drinks are still over priced at happy hour. It went from five dollars in a nice glass into a shot glass and only what they pick no signature drinks. I really was trying to give this place another chance but I am done. I will find a newer establishment to enjoy. Ooh and the staff keeps changing from one month to the next.

Great music and food, but when it comes to brunch don’t plan to get any kind of a real Mimosa. We ordered 5 pitchers at $ 12.50 each while we were there, and after a couple of hours the group all realized we did not feel anything. When retuning home and using a key chain breathalyzer we all blew zero …

This is the first time I’ve ever been here. I got invited to a business networking event, and it turn out that they double book the event tonight. It’s all good, I enjoy the jazz and blues they been jamming in here. Great atmosphere, and great food! Remind me of the southern part of the country that I used to live in. They get really pack in here, great hang out place if you like their jazz night.

Strictly Street Salsa has recently been hosting a new weekly Wednesday night salsa dancing at Café 4212. I have attended it two weeks in row & I am now totally hooked! Café 4212 is located inner city off Alameda road. Street parking is available on both sides of Alameda. There is a dedicated security guard that walks back & fourth watching over cars parked on the street. No cover charge, and upon your first Unilocal checkin, you get a $ 5 off a premium beverage, not a bad start eh? Raul Edwards, director of strictly street salsa, makes a tremendous effort introducing new comers to the rest of the group. Such a warm and welcoming host, breaking the ice & making everyone feel at home, no other salsa venue does that for the record. Place starts to get busy ~ 9 pm as DJ begins playing Timba, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue tunes. There is a spacious & slick dance floor and is well ventilated. Couches & tables & chairs are throughout the Café. Bar service is great, in fact the appetizers & beverage prices were very decent, compared with other inner city venues. Good service, friendly atmosphere, & good tunes, is certainly a great way to end your hump day :)

This place was amazing I went alone on a Monday night.(I’m here on business from Cali). It was Jazz jam night and good lord these guys were phenomenal. Everything from the music, the atmosphere to the bathrooms(always important) were great. The patio out back was beautiful and so was the man selling the cigars. The chicken strips were the bomb. Loved the vibe, love the music, loved it all!

I visited this Café/Lounge for the first time this weekend. I must say I was VERY impressed. It has a small time community atmosphere with great music and even greater food. I am prepping for a fitness competition so my choices on the menu are not expansive but the head chef catered to my needs! He baked a chicken breast to my specifications and it tasted AWESOME! I will definitely be back for lunch as well as the nightlife! The only downside is the parking but what do you expect when you are in the heart of midtown? Amazing staff, great food, and the band was outstanding! Try it for yourself you will not be disappointed!

Anyplace where I can feel comfortable singing along to my favorite tunes and doing a little 2-step is my kind of place. Located in 3rd ward off of Almeda this is definitely a cool, hip and urban spot for all 25+. While there is no age restriction I’d say this is for the more mature crowd. Café 4212 is a restaurant by day a lounge by night, that caters to the mature night owl. They specialize in great events that surround the black community and urban culture. Great drinks, great staff and even better service. Street parking only. Stop by for a great time. Tell Walter I said HELLO!

One thing I love about Houston is the hidden culture. I met some friends here on a Friday night and it was crazy packed. The Dj played R&B tracks remixed house style. They have a cute little patio out back if you want to get away from the crowd. I gave them 3 stars due to the slow service. I waited 20 minutes for a class of wine from the bartender and we waited an excessively long time for the hookah we requested. Over all I would give it a second try because I enjoyed the grown and sexy mature adult crowd. And if you’re a fan of house music, it’s worth a shot.

I’ve heard about Café 4212 on several occasions and finally decided 2 give it a try on Saturday night hoping for some live jazx, food and drinks. I arrived about 10 and there was no one present, accept the dj, a few staff and one guy sitting at the bar. Im assuming Saturday isny the right night to go. Kind of disappointing.

Honestly, I was torn between a three and four star review. Café 4212 has the potential to be amazing, it’s a bar/lounge and its very laid back. It’s an authentic urban scene. Honestly it reminds me of The Den from Moesha. Lol. The times I have been they’ve had live performances and I’d say that’s why I went with a three instead of a four. While the band is great and the talent is pretty good too. The shows all-together have been less than amazing. I’d say its a combination of the music being way too loud, the performances starting late and the intermissions lasting entirely too long. But I will most likely be back. If I were to compare Café 4212 to Sugarhill it would definitely win, but I think that’s just because its a perfect set up for live performances and not too much of a clubbish scene. Definitely worth a visit!

I met a co-worker here on a Thursday night… This is the best Jazz Venue I have ever been to in Houston… There were amazing professional Musicians from New Orleans and other places… I also go the vibe that they were connected to Texas Southern University since the Host was a KTSUDJ… The place was packed and everyone was have a good time… They mixed good drinks and had great service… I will be back for sure… By far the best Jazz bar in Houston I have found so far… I love that his part of Almeda is bouncing back… I call it Lil’ Harlem…

i was very impressed with this place. It is a little small ~ call ahead for seating/reservations if you don’t do well with mingling(I prefer to move about) and it definitely gets crowded… but it has a charming back patio that is wonderfully decorated and you are transformed to another place and time. Its gorgeous! Like being at someone’s wonderfully decorated home… the interior is cute, more like a cozy bar… but definitely a fun place and the bartender made a killer martini! Great music… energetic and fun, fun, fun!
