First I have to say, my lease is about to be up and I am considering moving because of the size of my unit(500 sq ft) and the property has no fitness center. I live in building 9 and the unit is old, patched up, BUT exactly what I am paying for. I really wish you could get more for $ 490 a month, but its what the market allows. My unit is very small, 500 sq ft is smaller then some hotel rooms I have stayed in(Vegas). Half of the units in the property(north of the office) have no door to the bedroom, just an finished opening, but from what I understand they are also the only ones with full size washer/dryers. The closet is good size and there is an extra linen closet next to the main closet. The bedroom can only handle a queen size bed, two side tables and one dresser. The bathroom is plain and normal plastic tub/shower, my toilet is cracked but its only cosmetic, the vanity is tiny and it only has one electric plug. The wood grain sheet laminate is a nice touch, I mean it looks better then the crap in some of the older apartments, it covers the kitchen, bathroom and entry. The carpet in the apartment is the normal very cheap beige, can’t tell if it is dirty or suppose to be that color. The kitchen is normal size(maybe a little large), for such a small apartment. Old stove, dishwasher and disposal(80’s), newer refrigerator(early 90’s). The cabinets are very normal, small, wood grain particleboard. There is a small but overly deep pantry without a door. Dining room? What dining room? You can fit a small café table but that’s it. The washer/dryer in the unit is very old, again from the 80’s. The dryer has two settings, no heat, clothes on fire. My first dryer was the same age and it stopped working at all and we found out that the fuse blew, so instead of replacing the fuse, the maintenance person replaced the entire dryer with the same age dryer while dragging it and dirtying the carpet. The public areas have really come a long way in the last year I have lived here, lots of new plants, flowers and the grass is always kept nice. They did add some giant speed bumps that no wanted, since there were some already. The gate recently was damaged and I suspect that the giant speed bumps that take some momentum to get over caused someone to hit the gas and then hit the gate. Camden, was speeding really such a big issue in the complex? I never saw it. Everyone I talk to complains that the speed bumps are way to steep and you have to go faster over them than normally. Anyway the property is basic and the cheapest Camden in the Houston area. I am kind of surprised that they haven’t sold it. They have sold a few properties on the west side in the last few years. I haven’t had any security problems, my area of property is nice. Neighbors are a few white collar, more blue collar, a few couples, single moms and even less couples with children. Also if anyone is interested they do offer furnished studios which all bills are paid, they run $ 695 which is pricey but when I first moved to Houston I wanted something easy. The units are old, but fine. The main reason I rented here was the preferred employer program. No deposit, no fees, no nothing but my first months rent. My rent is $ 490, + $ 40 for cable, $ 10 for a covered parking spot.
