My rating is not for their service but for them being an honorable company. I bought a house in the suburbs of Austin. I decided to use Champion because they had won the JD Power and Associates #1 rating for 4 out of the last 5 years. Before I signed up I called them to find out about Net Metering because my new house has solar panels. They told me that residential solar is handled thought the electric provider — Oncor. Well this turned out to not be the case. It turns out that only a tiny number of companies in Texas offer rebates on the energy you put into the grid and Champion is not one! I called them very upset because I had signed a 3yr contract. Long story short after explaining the situation and a supervisor getting involved, they waived the early termination fee on my contract. I love any company that cares more about it’s reputation and service than profits. I am now with another company on a month to month agreement(that’s how they all handle residential solar clients) but I’m counting the days until Champion offers residential solar so I can come back.

Great customer service, good rates, and helpful emails! I had Champion for a little over a year in Dallas. I picked it because I saw online that it was the highest rated Texas electricity company. My favorite service they offer is that they send weekly emails with information about your energy use each day and comparing it to the previous week, and it includes estimates for the cost of your monthly bill. Having this data helped me to lower my energy use(mainly with my AC), and lower my bills. I have no idea if another company would have had better rates, but I know that this service did help me save money. Also, anytime I called customer service(which wasn’t often), they were great. It didn’t take long to talk to a real live, helpful person, who was usually pretty friendly and easy to connect with. This kind of on the phone customer service seems rare with utility companies, so I appreciated that. They even called when I was going month to month after my 12 month contract expired to let me know that I could save money by signing up for another contract, and end it without cancellation fees if I moved to a new address where Champion wasn’t offered(which I wound up doing). Good business who treats their customers well.

I’ve had champion for 6 years now. I’ve had excellent service and have nothing bad to say regarding any services or issues. I’m sad to say that I’m leaving after 6 years due to their newly higher prices vs. the competition. Thanks again for 6 years Champion Energy!

I’ve used Champion Energy ever since I’ve lived in a place where I had a choice of my energy provider, and I couldn’t be happier with their services. When we were getting ready to move from our apartment to our house, I was concerned that I would get charged some outrageous fee to end the service in the apartment in then some other fee to begin service in our house. That was not the case at all! I called customer service and they were very helpful in setting up my move and energy transfer WITHNOFEES and continued service! I simply said please turn off the electricity in the apartment on this day and turn it on in the house on this day. They even allowed me to have a few overlap days since I wasn’t certain of my precise moving day. Other than moving, I never really had another reason to contact customer service. The paperless billing has been consistent and correct. I pay online and get notifications when I need to renew my contract. I’ve been pleased with the rates, and have no reason to switch companies. I’ll stick with Champion.

Need a new Electric Provider? Don’t bite on their low rates. I just left them for another provider and these is how they roll. They billed me for last bill and then sent a demanding collection letter 2DAYS later. I had payed via online billpay they same day as last bill.
