I really like their beignets, but the owner is a rude, rude man! If you choose to visit this establishment be prepared to get in trouble for something very insignificant.

Cheap and good beignets. I only give three stars because it’s cash only and I don’t always carry around cash. They also have many strict policies like no other food or drinks and some weird policies posted on their door. Wouldn’t recommend eating in the restaurant because it’s so crowded.

I been here a few times already and it’s better if you eat it in the café rather than to-go. Now, I’ve read so many reviews about the service here and I have not once encountered the grumpy owner of this place and the ladies aren’t so bad with their service. Some don’t smile, some are really nice but overall the service here I’ve encountered hasn’t been bad. Fingers crossed. This was first beignet place I’ve ever been to so I didn’t know what to expect in a beignets because it’s not«NOLA» style or «Café du Monde» quality but I just know it’s a square shaped fluffy bread covered in massive amounts of powdered sugar. What more can it be? I thought it was decent. I wouldn’t eat 6 of them though. One just satisfied my sweet craving that’s all and my daily calorie intake lol. Would I be back here again? Yeah I guess, if I’m in a mood for a beignet.

I’m sure this one was on me but I still want to review it so others won’t make the same mistake as I did. Do not order tapioca drinks from this place. Not a good idea. I ordered the Thai tea with tapioca here, thinking that no one can really mess that up. I was wrong. The tea doesn’t taste like the standard Thai tea. And the tapioca balls are super soft, it almost melting in my mouth. Definitely not recommend this place for drinks. Besides the bad drinks, this place is just a good space to hang out with your big group of friends. The food and drinks here have never impressed me. And there are always tons of older gentlemen hanging out here at any time of the day or night. Not my scene but I find myself at this place occasionally because the parents always want to stop by here whenever they’re in Chinatown.

Beignet is still good but cost is outrageous now… use to be 5.00 for 10 finger beignets, now it’s 10.00 for 10 beignets… Mr chez, is still grouchy, and gets annoyed by customers very easily. …owner hates it when you bring outside drinks and snacks… you will get kicked out if you don’t spend 2.50 per person. Yikes… be careful. …

So this was my first time of tasting anything like this well since the funnel cakes from astroworld so I guess cut me a break but let me say this the beignets are huge. 2 and I’m full oh and also Cash only :) that’s a must. Thankfully I only brought cash with me because I know what’s up. The food was okay actually. I’m giving this a 4 stars because of the adorable girls very nice.

Bubble tea here is weird. They put lots and lots of ice and grind them together with green tea and tapioca. Service here is terrible. The waitress(and cashier, and bartender too!) is annoying and seems like she is always angry with something. I don’t see any of her smile since I got in.

Something is seriously wrong with the owner here. My friends and I, total of 3 people, came by around 10:30pm on a Tuesday because one of us had a craving for beignets. We just got a half of a basket of finger beignets for $ 5. While waiting for our order, we sat and waited. My friend noticed the owner glaring at him and as soon as we opened our bag, they asked us to leave because our order wasn’t «big» enough. They have this stupid unwritten policy about how at least $ 2.50 must be spent for each customer. They don’t even accept credit cards, so if we don’t have enough cash to order something nor want something big, we aren’t good enough to eat in the store? I understand the«We have the right to refuse service to anyone» policy but 1. The place only had 4 other people 2. There was still an hour left until closing. 3. We weren’t causing any problems. 4. It was 10:30pm on a Tuesday night, you are seriously going to give us crap for not ordering big enough? Go learn how to properly treat customers, not like garbage. Your own staff probably has more business acumen and common sense than you do. If you are planning on running your business this way, I have no hopes for you.

I only tried their mini beignet pillows, which are bite sized beignets. It reminded me of a funnel cake, crispy on the outside. They’re also made fresh to order, which is always a plus!

Chez Beignets is a coffee & beignet restaurant off Bellaire in Houston. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Chez Beignets is a great alternative to shaved ice/boba tea dessert shops in the area. The beignets are solid, but don’t expected to find yourself in New Orleans. My Overall Rating — 3 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — You’ll find Chez Beignets in one of the many shopping strips in Chinatown. All the outdoor seating was taken by groups of Asian men smoking and admiring their cars parked outside. Inside is a pretty atypical Asian restaurant. There are cheap tables, generic restaurant chairs, and large posters of Asian stars that seem out of place. The one redeeming item was you can watch them make the beignets from behind the counter. ½ Star. Service — No issues with the service. But it wasn’t outstanding by any means. They take cash only and you only get one refill on your coffee. You get in line, place your order, and then pick it up. The coffee is self-serve, so not sure how they police the one refill rule. ½ Star. Food — Focusing only on the beignets, they’re good. Made to order, they come out piping hot and dusted with powdered sugar. The fried doughy goodness is great dipped in honey. The inside is soft and fluffy, although they are not as «airy» as some other beignets I had(name drop: Café du Monde). When paired with black coffee, the beignets act as a sponge and do a great job balancing the coffee with the sweet beignet. Now, I did detect a slight sour taste. Not sure if it was from yeast or a spice — wife thinks it was clove. But it wasn’t that strong and didn’t ruin the beignet. 1 Star. Will I Return? — Yes. Not the best beignet I’ve had, but it’s certainly the best beignet within driving distance. They know they have a good product, so while the atmosphere won’t transport you away to NOLA by any means, you can’t go wrong with fried dough done right. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

I have been craving beignets since I returned home from my recent trip to NOLA and had my first taste of Café Du Monde’s beignets.(Quite possibly the best thing I’ve ever eaten) So I decided to give this place a try since it is only a few minutes away from my house. It is a smaller restaurant with about 15 tables so I decided to make a Togo order. My boyfriend wanted regular beignets but I saw they also had something called beignet fingers so we decided on those. There was only one girl working so we had to wait a bit because there was a gentleman there placing a large beignet order. When it was our turn we noticed the pricing is significantly higher for a Togo order. The fingers were $ 10.00 Togo when normally they are $ 6.50 to dine in. We paid and watched as she sliced the dough then threw them into grease(that looked as though it needed to be changed) the fingers themselves were pretty good but greasy. All in all, the taste is decent but no where near as good as Café Du Monde’s.

Yay, I found a dessert place in Chinatown that isn’t boba! After my friend has pestering me about getting«French donut» for a while, I finally caved in. I mean, what is so great about donut? I was so wrong. Introducing beignet — a French-style fried pastry that is indeed best summarizes as «French donut». In this retro Vietnamese café, all beignets are made-to-order and an order of three costs only $ 5! When you first get them, the beignets are only lightly sprinkled with powder sugar, but you can choose how sweet you want them to be with the honey and the powder sugar on your table. No matter how sweet you made them to be, these fried goodness are absolutely guilty pleasure! With a crunchy exterior and a soft interior, the conceptually-simple beignet are actually deceptively good. Be careful though: because they are made-to-order, don’t be rash and burn your hands or mouth! *Cash only. $ 2.50 per person.

A group of us came here for some after dinner coffee and beignets after eating at nearby Tony Thai. Chez is nestled in the back of a bustling retail center and makes for some amazing people watching on top of the coffee and desserts. Interior is a little tight and can get packed during a rush, but there’s plenty of seating options both inside and out. Service is counter top and cafeteria style. You walk in, grab a lunch tray and a coffee mug and slide down the counter until you know what to grab. As a non coffee snob, the coffee was good. That’s all I can really say about coffee that tastes like, coffee. As for desserts, they offer about 6 ice cream flavors ranging from green tea to rainbow sherbert, something for all pallets. The main attraction though is their beignets. You have the option of mutliple sizes and shapes including the familiar café dumonde squares down to smaller finger shapes. We went with fingers and were not disappointed. Bread isn’t over sweet and pairs perfectly with the powered sugar and optional honey on the tables. You’ll start with one bite and then realize your basket is empty in no time. Overall, a great place to indulge your sweet tooth, relax with some coffee and chat up your friends.

Yum I love beignets!!! A little Nola in houston. At 1.75 a pop freshly fried, it’s so worth it. Tons of parking but also tons of customers since its in the same plaza as Kim son buffet. I’ll have to try the fingers next time. I also liked that there was honey at the tables and powdered sugar. Water cups are self serve and the beignets are delicious cake batter tasting Cash only :(

Family members took us here because my mom inquired, «How does it compare to the ones in New Orleans?» I mean, nothing really compares to the original, but the beignets here were enjoyable with a cup of coffee. Got both the«pillows» and the«fingers» — I loved both. I really liked the fact that these were not super chewy like the ones I have had in California. Also love that they have powdered sugar and honey on every table — powdered sugar is the best part! When we went, it was nice service and everything came out quickly. All the beignets were still warm and the coffee was good. Reminiscent of a hole in the wall place due to the décor, but it is actually a large location. Cash Only! Had a warning beforehand about using cell phones in the restaurant since the owner yells at you for using it in the restaurant. Also heard he’s not really a nice person, but apparently this location is really popular later in the evening. Luckily he was not there when we came!

Chinatown meet New Orleans! Giant Glamor Shots! Powdery Sugared Beignets and Coffee in Bellaire! Why not? This café has an interesting yet undetermined vibe when you walk in. Lots of seating and lots of rules to protect the establishment. No credit cards. One refill. Got it???(See the other Unilocal reviews.) What a coffee talk evening ambiance juxtaposed with large poster art with modeling agency«glamor shots» of giant pretty faces in the café interior. Now here’s a curious mystery for you to solve over steaming cups of joe… Who knew such mambo posters existed? Is there a photography business annexed in this space? A poster shop? A modeling agency? The short of it: A mix mass of rules I can’t remember, clutter, small tables, and giant posters w faces peering at you. But the buzz is there and the yums are good. Come for the yums and conversation with your chums plural! Yes! Pull the ubiquitous small tables and inquire over your coffee… and ask…Ça va?

Just an initial warning, NOCREDITCARDS, typical in most Bellaire restaurants though. The inside is not expected at all. You walk in and you can definitely see that they have attempted to recreate an outdoor café scenery with added Vietnamese posters all around the windows. It just didn’t work. Looks very messy. My friend ordered a box of finger beignets. This was an even $ 10. Goodness that was a lot… They give you a small styrofoam cup of powdered sugar and a small thing of honey with the order. The beignets itself were good, fried dough, how does one mess up with that. I prefer eating it with the honey vs the powdered sugar though. It had more taste to it. Good crisp too! I’ve been to Café Du Monde in New Orleans and I definitely likes that better. I think it was cause the atmosphere was much better. They don’t give you honey like here too. The restroom smelled HORRIBLE. Oh my goodness. Straight up sewer. I washed my hands and ran out immediately. Would I go back? Errr idk. Very fattening stuff to eat and it’s pretty expensive for what you’re purchasing too. It’s just a fun thing to try. I would rather stick to fried potatoes(fries) if I wanted to clog my arteries.
