This bar is very clean and well-maintained. I went on a Sunday to see half a match of USA soccer. I was very pleased and excited to try their burgers, which everyone always raves about. The burger itself was was perfectly sized and dressed like a traditional burger! They probably have the most TVs in the downtown area and they service was great. Definitely will be going back to watch another game.

I should have gotten a burger and maybe one day I will. But today(my first visit there), I got a steak salad. I assumed it would be like steak salads I’ve gotten at many other restaurants: a lean steak sliced thinly and served over a salad. It was a mess of greasy, grisly and gnarled meat dumped on a salad — along with some big, fat greasy grilled onions — and, apparently, the grease in which it was all cooked. I normally love grilled onions — just not added to my fresh salad — just doesn’t go together. The servers were friendly and the order was served quickly — good for downtown work lunchtime. The seating was comfortable and atmosphere is relaxed.

Love this place. Great service and amazing place to catch any kind of sports. The manager Paul always takes care of us. I love their burgers and their steak night. Drinks are fairly priced and the restaurant is very clean. Will be back for sure.

My favorite place to catch a game in Houston! Service is great, manager Paul was extremely hospitable, amenities were clean, plenty of screens so you can see the game in any seat of the bar, huge projection screen outside on the patio and DJ plays music right as commercials start. Can’t get much better than this!

How the hell is this gastronomic Chernobyl in business? Not only is it an insult to the restaurant industry in general; it should also be the final nail in the coffin to disprove free market capitalism, where the better product wins. Soviet Gulags probably have better food than this culinary Superfund Site. I came here for lunch, and strolled in to find a waitstaff that moves at the speed of I-don’t-give-a-f*ck. The girl working the counter where you order was clearly hired for something besides her hospitality skills, as the dead bird on the sidewalk on the way here, moved with a better a sense-of-purpose. I got my food about 5 mins earlier than the guy I was eating with, instead of together. But maybe they just want to be special and different where everyone sitting together eats separately. I had to ask several times to get my water glass refilled, same with the ice tea my partner-in-food had. Last I checked the drought was over, so I don’t think they’re conserving water. Moving on to the food. Firstly the fries I got with my burger were desiccated(like that $ 5 word? Thank my college English professor), lukewarm, and stale. My burger wasn’t much better, as it was bland, marginally warm, tasteless, and pretty much at McDonald’s level of taste. I hate McDonald’s, but I would seriously eat there before I’d go to this dump. At least at McDonald’s I can get a happy meal and a picture with Ronald McDonald when I get my crappy food.

Trust me when I say you want to skip this place. The service was hands down the worst I have ever witnessed. We went with a group of 6 or so for a Texans game a couple of weeks ago, and there was a decent crowd, but the place was by no means packed. Our waitress was an absolute joke! She would go long periods of time without checking on us. When she would«grace» us with her presence, of course everyone was ready for drink/food orders which she would mess up/forget to put in. There were multiple times where we waved her down and she gave us a «give me a minute» hand gesture, and then disappeared again… She told us three different times that she would«be right back» to take our orders. The food is bleh, the beer is beer. So do yourself a favor and go to a different sports bar where they sell the same stuff!

Come here on Wednesdays when they have Geeks Who Drink trivia. This is a fairly new location so it’s not crazy crowded like the other locations, and I’m hoping to keep it that way(stay away, guyz!). They also have half priced wrap baskets on Wednesdays which makes it super cheap, but the wraps are pretty meh. No good drink specials but the beer list is decent.

Awesome bar! Great staff! They really do go above and beyond here. Love the laid back atmosphere; I think I’ve found my second home here. Ask for Daniel(he’s such a nice guy and charismatic). Will be back soonA++++ costumer service.

Best stop for lunch and beer on weekends if you are in downtown. Also great sports atmosphere with a large range of «on tap beers» and wine!

Who knew there was a good old sports bar downtown? I certainly didn’t. I normally make my way downtown for yummy craft cocktails but last Saturday my Gainesville girls were in town and we were looking for somewhere to watch the game… GOGATORS… this is when I discovered that Christian’s Tailgate is the home of the Houston Gator Club! Was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this Christian’s Tailgate as the only other one I had been in was dark and gloomy. This one has banks of Windows so it is bright and cheery especially bathed in all the orange and blue. We quickly found a table with good viewing of the game on one of their many TVs and settled in. The service was prompt and the beers were cold. The food is really just average bar food. Nothing spectacular. I’m not crazy about the tv setup. They are high on the walls making viewing a little awkward but totally doable.

What does it take to get service around here? Been here 15 minutes. No waiter. No drink. Not even a menu.

One of the only true Sports bars in the proper downtown area. A long bar, with TV’s lining all the way down. Concrete floors, big open and loud. As soon as I sit down, I am greeted by a bartender to take an order. They have maybe the largest select of Silver Eagle beers available anywhere, that is to say almost the entire lineup of Saint Arnold, Karbach, 8th Wonder, and of coarse all the Anheuser Bush products, like Goose Island, from the same distributor as well. Menu looks the same as the rest of the locations. All burgers and fried stuff. I always felt their burgers are pretty average, and it is not different here. Certainly not bad, but I am always amazed how when I order a burger medium it always comes out well done. You would think I would learn by now, but still a little disheartening when I bite into it. Fries are hand cut, but flavorless. I hardly ever use ketchup, but I have to drown them here. Service and kitchen times are fast, you pretty much know what to expect with the burgers, with plenty of local beers on tap. So all in all, if you want a sports bar downtown that is open everyday(most of downtown seems to not be open on Sundays), this is your spot. Nothing out of the ordinary, but dependable, which has its place.

Came here on a Friday for the oysters, they were great service was HORRIBLE! We sat outside because I had my dog with me. Someone came out said we couldn’t order on the patio they said to go inside at the bar. Cool but I made sure it was fine to have my dog inside they said it was. We were ordering at the bar another person told us to go outside with my dog. Very frustrating. We asked if someone would bring our food out to us, they shrugged and said fine. Like running food is such a HUGE chore at your job. We went back in to order a beer they told us they were making last call so they could shut down… It was only midnight! On a Friday! On your website it said your open till 2am. My friend went to order and the bartenders told her no they were closing early to go home. Never going back again

My recent experiences at Christian Tailgate have been awesome ! I think the bar is under new management, as I met Layton last week and he was such a delight ! He is just what the bar needed: personality, excellent customer service and a friendly smile !!! The funny thing is I was really giving up on the spot and only patronized because a friend dragged me there… good thing I gave it one last shot ! Thanks Layton for giving me a new experience to hold on to… until next time! Signed, Happy Customer

ZERO stars. Was fine just checking it out drinking with neighbors/locals & the game is cool on the big screen but I will NEVER come here again because of the restroom… was a bit of a mess so I thought ‘I’ll just layer with toilet paper,’ right? NOPE. Check the pics…

This location is AWESOMENESS! ! I met the manager personally(Mr. Rodrigo) and he was so down to earth and knowledgeable about the company I thought he was«just an employee». The atmosphere was very nice with ALL the sports playing. Delicious food, smooth but strong exclusive beers and cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere. Just what one needs after 16 hrs of work lol. I will CONTINOUSLY spread the word to others. Not all sports bars are the same but this one stands out by far. Thank you for your exceptional customer service. Can’t wait till we meet again my new friend!

This experience was more like 3 stars, BUT it was coincidentally their first night opening, so I decided to be nice. This is the kind of bar the new Main Street revival needed; a standard sports bar with a bunch of TVs. Equipped with the ubiquitous(it fits, I had to look it up) Big Buck hunter and a nice pool table. Again, this was day one so the kitchen wasn’t even open and they were short on products for certain girly drinks(requested by my friends). However, this place has potential. CT has its presence in the heights and midtown so it only makes sense that they jump on the downtown scene. A much needed addition to the area overwhelmed(or at least whelmed) by hipster joints that were repurposed from banks, law firms, tailors and the like to become bars. Food: n/a(but looks like they have good deals) Drinks: 3.5(probably the only place in the area to get a ‘frat boy’ shot without being shunned) Atmosphere: 5(great place for the game) Service: 5(nice, quick staff… but it was dead and day 1) Price: 4(less than $ 10 for a cocktail downtown? No way) Great addition to the area. Looking forward to returning.
