This was my first adventure at this venue. It’s right in the middle of the UofH campus. Had to park in a parking garage, goodbye $ 10. The garage is a 5 – 7 minute walk from the venue. There was no security check at the door. Seemed odd to me in this day and age that no one was concerned with security. I arrived during the opening band and was surprised how very dark it was in the main hall. Even movie theaters have running lights along walk ways. The CSC Event Staff was acting as ushers and seating people. They were careless with their flashlights and were shining them all over the place. That might not seem like a big deal but when you are sitting in a pitch black theater and get a bright flashlight to the face, well, it’s no fun. Also I saw one of those CSC guys air drumming with a flashlight during the show, light shining in every direction. He couldn’t have cared less. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me. The venue seemed nice and the show sounded great. It would have to be a show I REALLY wanted to see for me to come back.

Went here to see Alton Brown. I think for this kind of event, the hall is perfect. We had great seats and the people working the hall were very nice. I do think they need to update a little in order to provide better beverage service and to make more restroom space available on the main floor. Also, I noticed a good bit of echo during the performance, so if you’re sitting in the lower section during a musical performance, it may not be as satisfying for you as other halls.

Came to this venue to participate in the Inaugural Houston Moth Story Slam. The venue is a spacious double level theater located in the heart of the UH campus. The acoustics are quite good from the stage. Be careful to read the signs carefully when parking(I was ticketed $ 85)!

Went here for an «acoustic» concert by Jason Mraz and Raining Jane for his«Yes!» album. I say«acoustic» because by golly they added a bunch of electric instruments including a welcome sitar. Parking: $ 10 for the event in a garage located within walking distance(.25mi?) of the venue. It was relatively easy — maybe allow an extra 10 – 15 minutes for parking? Not nearly as bad as Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion where it is a much longer walk and takes forever to park. Really not as bad as NRG Stadium. The only downside: They put attendants collecting cash on the 2nd floor ramp which makes it intimidating as you wait in line uphill in your car. Venue: – Bathrooms — horrendously long wait. Attendants did not allow us to use bathrooms on the ground floor but directed us downstairs. The wait for the women’s restroom was LONG, and there were only four stalls. Stalls had shorty walls. This made for lots of disruptions as people trickled in late to the concert. – Performance area — Awesome; didn’t really seem to be a bad seat in the house. Not overly air conditioned but comfortable for every one. Great accoustics; intimate environment. – Attendants — Groan. They had these obnoxiously bright LED lights. Unlike Theater District performances, they kept walking people in as the performance was going. I would have appreciated them queueing people until songs ended. Post Concert: – Waiting for autographs — Um, this was not so great an experience. Roaches and mosquitoes flippin’ everywhere(early Sept.). Additionally, the security guards waited 45 minutes before telling fans that the band had already left. OVERALL: – Great performance experience and easy parking – Not so great bathrooms, attendants, and post-concert waiting. I think this could be remedied by process change.
