Direct Energy

I had been a customer of Direct Energy for nearly 3 years… Until I actually had an issue that needed one ounce of customer assistance! Now I will discourage anyone who asks from using their services. To echo Ben’s comments, their online system is atrocious. At one point I moved apartments within the same building, and the online system was unable to figure that one out so forever I received notices at the wrong address and had to correct billing issues multiple times. It is impossible to get a person on the line for customer service. Any phone calls made contain multiple errors on the name spelling/​address/​information when you check back online! Very disappointed. Cancelling their service was the best move I ever made.

No stars for this company. They sent four people to demand answers to questions that are none of their business. Intimidation doesn’t work with me, it just makes me angry. I may have to answer the door armed since the don’t treat people or their homes with respect.

The online payment system is horrible. I’ve been trying to update my credit card information for the last year. I thought Direct Energy had made some improvements to their online payment system, and I was finally able to update my account only to find out that nothing updated. I’ve spent too much money in late fees. Good bye Direct Energy. Going to a much better place where they have a modernized online payment system.

Worst company! Do not use them! They were all great in the beginning when they were selling me their services and had such a competitive fixed rate that I couldn’t pass up… BUT when the fixed rate expired (AND WITHOUT notice). Can you say price gauging to the extreme! What a scam this company is. They say their variable rate is based on the market — but that’s such BS! And if you already have them, make sure you find out when the fixed rate expires and either renew or preferably, find another company!
