Stay away stay away stay away from these contractors!!! Horrendous amount of consternation and unfulfilled promises. The short: Paid on 28th of july District Design owner Patrick Hart, failed to deliver the Sofa and Rug I ordered on time or fully finished. It took 83 days around 12 weeks to deliver a unfinished Sofa instead of 4, and after they redid the errors they still had unfinished errors. The Rug was never delivered and a refund was asked for several times met with no response. The businesses of District design and Design Extraordinaire have since ignored all my missives. District design was the primary contractor that had Design Extraordinaire do the sofa construction. –
After several emails, dozens of calls and several store visits to be met with no answer or a closed for business– I am posting a detailed complaint on every board that connects to these people before I prep for small claims court. All in all the custom couch was my design for around 2500 $ and the rug was around 700 $ Really, District design, Patrick Hart, and Design Extraordinaire, Monica Rodriguez, are not worth the cheaper bill quote with the hours of hassle and consternation involved in dealing with them. I paid on the 28th of July. District Design Patrick Hart the contractor and Monica Rodriguez President of Design Extraordinaire Furnishing the manufacturer missed the 4 week estimated time of completion, the 6th week, even the 8th week committal to deliver the furniture. Even though Patrick, District Design said he would deliver he did not. .nor did he communicate what was going on. After a slurry of unproven reasons of failure to perform he delivered the sofa at 10⁄2nd when it was purchased on 6⁄28th83 work days(including Saturdays) not including Holidays that is about 12 weeks instead of the 4 weeks quoted. Second he failed to deliver the rug entirely only for me to find out after driving all the way to his office b/c he wouldn’t pick up the phone or respond to me that the carpet supplier couldn’t hold the rug for that long and even though it isn’t a custom rug it was on back order. Sure ok. So I asked for a refund. And asked about 4x and have it in writing and on phone record. No refund or response given. Hence the cause for a lawsuit. In terms of the delivered sofa, separate from the non delivered rug. The overall quality was horrendous in terms of final finishes: I’ve already detailed my complaints on the furniture final upholstery quality. The sides were meant to be fully covered since I will keep them separate partially through the year… and the connection method should be the bracket hinges. Both of these things were missing The undercover needed to be re-stapled at the ends where they were pulled to fit the I didn’t ask for bolts. Much of the fabric was not cut evenly. The seams were showing on the side as seen in picturess I have. On the 2nd redeliver after I asked him to fix it: The sofa came in with the fabric fixed though the locking mechanism had the wrong bolts installed(it needs countersunk flat head bolts so it can swivel). It is a 2 point locking mechanism so the function of it is hampered when only one point is installed. They skipped putting another locking set at the back. I did tell Monica that I wanted the locking mechanism to swivel back hidden so that it is out of sight and not a trip hazard as I plan to have them separate at times. I also asked for two and sent a picture of a correct installation of said locking assembly to both you Patrick and Monica in form of a picture. The mechanism is designed to swivel. if they had put in the right bolts. Lastly the foot is missing its contact stud on one foot. So the couch grinds on the wood block and sits off plane and uneven. I offered: They can send a repair man on a weekend of after 6/630pm weekday to fix these things OR they can just mail me the parts and I can install it myself since I have all the — though the 10 week wait time and 2x redo on quality speaks volumes of the lack of quality assurance checks and business methodology. Businesses typically offer a partial refund for the hassle and consternation. One might think in 10 weeks instead of 4 – 6 weeks –they would have done it right the first time… but hey I guess my work experience as a manufacturing and production engineer has me biased… I asked all of that on the 11th of October it has now been 22 days of me calling about 2x a day on the work week and visiting the CLOSED business a couple times and no email response. Not only have they not finished fixing my sofa but the rug is not delivered. Stay away stay away stay away from these contractors!!!
