Friendly staff! Opens late. Will miss this place! They are fresh with their strawberry tapioca.

I’m having a sweet tapioca craving. I was on my way home back to galleria and I stopped on bellaire for this place. I always ordered a Caramel Coffee Tapioca. Needless to say my drink was way too sweet that I couldn’t drink it anymore. Also the tapioca balls were hard and tasted frozen. Now it ruin my appetite for tapioca. I wish Dulce Tapioca or Kim’s Teahouse was opened this late.

Back in the day, everybody and their moms went to Star Snow, but only the cool kids went to Duno Baby. Nowadays, I go back every once in a while. It looks like the Dun Huang and Golden Foods developments have sucked the life out of HK4, but Duno Baby still stands. It never looks packed the way it did in its heyday, but there’s something to be said for chugging along, right? I still remember the first time I had the green apple jelly slushie here. Nowadays, I stick to the yellows – peach, passion fruit, mango. Apparently you can do rainbow flavors here(pick multiple high fructose corn syrup flavors, you mean). There’s a food menu too, although I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone ever eat here in life.

I was having my weekly craving for thai tea, but was far from my go-to tapioca place(Dulce). I walked into the Dunobaby and the owner and a little bug(dare I say a roach) greeted me at the menu counter. The bug should have forced me out the door but I reallllly wanted thai tea. So I ordered my thai tea, took 2 sips, and threw the rest away. *GAG* It was orange sugar water. So gross. I took 2 sips thinking that the first sip really couldn’t have been that bad… wrong. Waste of $ 4!

The only ever bad review I’ve ever written was for SERVICE at a hair salon, so bear that in mind you naysays when I write in clear words that Dunobaby SUCKS! It’s horrible, disgusting, gross, and every other negative adjective known to man. Stopped by Dunobaby after shopping at Hong Kong 4 this past weekend. You’ll usually find me at Teahouse at the food court, after 10 years only recently has it gone down hill but I believe that’s because of owner changes. Anyways, this time around though, I wanted to try something different; venture outside of my comfort zone if you will. Dunobaby was all the rage in the early 2000’s and so I assumed, since it’s still around after almost 6 – 7 years that it was still good. Worst. tapioca. drink. ever. We ordered three drinks; the Thai Tea that usually has a bright orange coloring to it was a pale muddy orange instead, the Taro Milk Tea that was ordered and is usually purple came out muddy looking as well with a hint of purple and a murky discoloring on the top part as if the drinks didn’t mix well. The third and final drink was a regular milk tea which, depending on where you get it can either be whiteish in color from the milk added or brown from the tea which was none of the above at Dunobaby. All three drinks came with tapioca, which I have to admit wasn’t so bad if you could get past the over processed, loads of sugar laced drink surrounding it. In all I ended up spending 10 dollars on three drinks that we promptly threw in the trash, if you decide you don’t want to listen to my review, need further reason to try this place, etc. Please carry on and come back to tell me I was right.

I got the triple layer flavored slushie here and it was surprisingly delicious! I didn’t even know about this place because it’s so far from the rest of chinatown. I really like the tapioca here, it’s sweet and just the way I like it :)

Whenever I get a craving for bubble tea, I drive out to the Hong Kong City Mall and head right into Duno Baby. I’ve not done an exhaustive search, but the bubble tea here is the best I’ve found, and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I can’t keep track of all the different varieties I’ve tried, but they’ve all been good.

First off, Dunobaby is a primarily milk-tea business, with everything else as a perk. In fact, this perk is three-fold at LEAST: 1. This shoppe is tucked in the NE corner of Hong Kong Market. Walking up to their doors we’d always see this attractive Asian woman in a bright blue stewardess’ uniform, perpetually smiling and waving at us from inside the neighboring space. We never waved back however. She always wanted to push a two-way flight deal on us to Maui, and quite frankly she was kind of lifeless. 2. The owners really are friendly, sympathetic people. Especially when they realize the sun-burnt group who just came in were previously pointing and laughing at a cardboard cutout ad at their neighboring travel agency. Silly kids. 3. Crepes are sold here. And not just fruit crepes. Oh no, my friend: diabetic-Sundae-banana-entrenched-ice-cream-with-fudge– nuts-and-strawberry-syrup-drizzled-all-over crepes. These crepes are called Liberty Crepes and are freely and patriotically served in stands to keep them, erect. Ahem. Just why are these liberties stood up, you ask? I-Duno-baby. .

I used to come here all the time that the Owners now knows me. I love getting the azuki bean with condense milk on a bed of milky flavored ice. This is what shaved ice dessert is all about! Talking about it makes me want to fly back there just to get it. When they first started doing the fresh fruit crêpe-I was sooooooo addicted that I told my friends about it that day and I ended up going back there with 3 different sets of friends that day.(3 x in one day!!!) This place is super duper clean-not like other bubble tea places. This place has no rodents or critters running around-so totally passes the health safety department!!! This is one of my top places to visit when I am in town!!!
