Pork belly hash. Pork belly hash. No really, pork belly hash. Pork belly and sweet potato hash with low-heat cooked egg… Yum! The food is honestly a 4. It’s good, but it’s nothing out of this world. But eating brunch outside in a beautiful courtyard near the Museum District? Lovely! Hit the arts after!

This review is purely based on the food truck parked outside of 8th wonder. For sure one of my less favorite food trucks, especially considering how everything is just more expensive because it was made on a portable machine. Shazam(3⁄5) — Chicken breast sandwiches with tomato, aioli, and arugula. It would have been good if the chicken was not drenched in seasoning and marinate. It was also burnt and salty. Not very good. Gyro sandwich(3.5÷5) — This sandwich had pretty decent sauce drizzled over the gyro in a pita, but there was so much vinaigrette and sauce I also could not taste the meat. I didn’t even want to try any of the desserts because the food itself was so mediocre especially for $ 9 a sandwich without any fries. Maybe I will come back to try some desserts, but really am disappointed by the food.

Wow… Can I just say that this place is absolutely adorable! The restaurant is small but it is decorated very uniquely. The food is amazing and their different flavored ice creams are a must try!

There were only six flavors to chose from. Tried three different ones and NONE of them tasted at all like the description. Left an aftertaste in our mouths that was unplesent. Three of the six were at the bottom of the barrel so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it but as far as I know it shouldn’t.Very nice guy working behind the counter but can’t rate place on that. With the limited selections, price and taste would never come back. Do yourself a favor and drive 15 minutes and go to Hanks on Main. That’s the best ice cream I have ever had. Period !!!

Eatsie Boys is a regular presence at the City Hall Farmers’ Market on Wednesdays. I’ve had lunch here several times because the appealing menu always calls out to me. Even when the line isn’t too long, they take forever to put out orders. Corporate America only allows for a one-hour lunch break; I don’t wanna spend 30 minutes of it waiting for food. The descriptions on the menu contain tons of buzz words that get me super excited, but I’m always let down. The pretzel bun is soggy. The baguette is too hard, and so big that it’s impossible to eat it gracefully. Sandwiches are always over-sauced and overly salty. I’m sure it contributes to the soggy bread too, along with the grease dripping from whatever meat they’re serving. I’m not a health nut by any standard, but this. Is. A. Mess. It’s not cheap, either. Sandwiches run $ 8 – 10. To be fair, this review is only for the food truck. The café is much better, in my opinion, and doesn’t suffer from the same problems. Eatsie Boys is kinda like a lover that breaks promise after promise; a failed relationship that you keep trying in vain to make work. And even though it never feels quite right deep down, you go back time and time again because he manipulates and pulls you back in. Eatsie Boys– This time, we are never, ever, ever, getting back together.

Limited flavors, but exotic. It appears to only have 6 flavors at a time. I tried glazed and confused donut, couldn’t really tell anything special about it. Sorta just tasted like vanilla in the end. I tried a banana flavored one, passable since typically anything banana flavored is overwhelming. A toffee crunch was pretty good, had the sweet salty and crunchy. I opted for Butter Pecan Pie, was worth it especially on a hot summer Houston day. A tad pricey though $ 4.08?, limited parking in the front, but a parking garage out back? They also sell food and coffee

A friend recommended me their whisky ice cream! I can’t wait to try it if it is as fresh and yum as their sandwiches!

So usually after I get ice cream, my sweet tooth is satisfied and I can move on with my evening. Not with Eatsie Boys Ice Cream. I’ve had just about every flavor on their menu, but STILL find myself going in for a second helping. No matter which flavor I’m consuming, I always feel guilt about not getting a different flavor. As one poster said, frozen awesomeness.

Don’t get the Eatsie Boys Café confused with this review of the Eatsie Boys Ice Cream because the two are so close in physical proximity, but so far apart on quality of their product. Strictly speaking on just the ice cream, I have 4 words for you: Shipley Donut Ice Cream! WOW, I never thought an ice cream could possibly taste like the much beloved local donut, but Eatsie Boys certainly blended these two sugary diet busters in a creative way. Eatsie Boys is one of the first local food trucks to go brick and mortar, but rumor has it that they still operate their ice cream truck during the Summer months to keep kids of all ages cooled off and high off of sugar. The eatery is small and oddly shaped being on a corner lot of the strip it’s in. On weather permitting days, sit outside to enjoy your ice cream under the big old oaks and rustic feel of the small strip. Eatsie Boys only serves up one size of ice cream and the cup may look small, but the staff pack a whole lot of ice cream into the«small» cups. By the time I ate halfway through the cup, I was feeling pretty satisfied with the amount of ice cream I was given and was experiencing a sugar high of ice cream and donut mixed together. The ice cream is a bit stiff and crumbly compared to most other ice creams in town, but it could be that they are using a higher milk fat to make their ice cream, which causes it to harden up like it does. My advice would be to order your ice cream with your meal and let it soften up a bit while you eat, if you like your ice cream with a bit more of a softer texture. I had ordered my ice cream with my meal so that I could pay once, but I asked for a ticket to claim my ice cream after my lunch. Returning for the Shipley Donut Ice Cream alone would be worth it, but in case you are wanting to go a bit adventurous with some of their crazy concoctions, you may want to ask for sample tastings first before you commit to an ice cream flavor nightmare. Eatsie Boys are clearly proud of their product based on price, so don’t get sticker shock on how much you pay for your ice cream. At almost $ 5/cup the ice cream better taste that great, otherwise, I would never recommend spending that amount of money on ice cream. Don’t forget to park in the covered parking behind Eatsie Boys and be sure to ask for a validated parking token, unless you like paying for your parking.

I’ve been addicted to homemade ice cream since I started using my ice cream maker regularly this year. Just one visit(now 2 visits) to Eatsie Boys’ ice cream truck, but I can already tell this is the real deal. Their offerings have that fresh taste you just can’t find at the grocery store. As for flavors, they gave me a taste of the sweet relish. I was expecting gross but it wasn’t bad. I just wasn’t sure how it’d mix with the other flavors I wanted to try. Their sweet corn differs from Hank’s in that the corn flavor is infused throughout the ice cream, rather than Hank’s which is more like a sweet cream base with the corn mixed in. Both very good, just depends on your preference. The Vietnamese iced coffee was good but with its slightly bitter finish it’s definitely for coffee lovers only. The service was very friendly, and they flipped my ice cream into a styrofoam cup for me so I could transport it in the car in my insulated lunchbag. And you know how I can tell it’s the full-fat cream, properly made real thing? It melted slowly, not becoming a watery soupy mess quickly(I’m looking at you, Paciugo) so that I could taste every flavor individually all the way to the end. They let you mix up to 3 flavors, whether it’s the ice cream, gelato or sorbet. My second visit, I noticed they were using different cups so the serving size was smaller. But that’s to be expected, the original size was a generous serving for even 2 people, way too good to be true.

I love anything that has the name Eatsie boys attached to it! They have lots of unique flavors, I know the one with bananas really stood out to me… that was probably my fav! I tried the curry flavor one and wow it really does taste like curry, it was a little to bizarre for me so I will have to pass on that flavor. The Arnold palmer is pretty good as well, they let you get different flavors so you can enjoy mixing and matching.

Frozen Awesome. Indeed. Eastie Boys has a new food truck. An awesome food truck. One that only serves frozen treats and other such desserts. I discovered this new addition a couple of weeks ago, while dying of heat exhaustion and sun burn, perusing the Etsy stalls in West Elm. I know. The entire experience was surreal. Live Etsy vendors? At West Elm? Eastie Boys serving up ice cream? Well, no hallucination. No mirage. And ice cream is a misnomer. They had a list of gelatos, ice creams, and sorbets. Sweet corn ice cream. Hazelnut Gelato. Funky sorbets, such as Arnold Palmer and Caipirinha. I wound up with a Coconut sorbet(ie Shake Your Coconuts). No dairy, just pure awesomeness. You can apparently get ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, and sundaes. Thank goodness tomorrow* is Saturday. That means I get to replenish my farmer’s market staples at Eastside FM, and now cool off with a bowl of frozen goodness. *Farmer’s Market was PACKED, so they’d run out of eggs by the time I got there, however… Eastie Boys were there to soften the blow. Just so you know, you MUST get the Red Curry Ice Cream. That is all.

3.75. Came across this food truck yesterday at The Boneyard Drinkery. They happened to be sharing the parking lot with Phamily Bites(a Vietnamese food truck that I also recommend!), which I thought was a brilliant pairing. Cold beers at the Drinkery, hot Vietnamese food at Phamily Bites, then dessert at Eatsie Boys. By looking at other reviews, I’m thinking the Eatsie Boys have 2 different trucks — one for food, one for«inspired ice cream.» Lucky for this dessert lover, we got the ice cream truck! They have tons of flavors: from your basic Ch-Ch-Chocolate and Hello Nasty Hazelnut to the bizarre-sounding Sweet Corn Shazam and Crazy A$$ Caparinha. Free samples all around, ice cream & gelato are $ 4 a cup and sorbets are $ 5 a cup, and you can mix up to 3 flavors. Not bad, huh? While waiting for our food from Phamily Bites, we decided to dive dessert-first into this food truck experience. Brass Monkey Caramelized Banana was divine, like banana foster in ice cream form(and if you’ve been reading my reviews, you know I love my banana foster!). Hello Nasty Hazelnut was all right, but it’s a little strong on its own… Maybe mixing it up with Ch-Ch-Chocolate would’ve been the way to go. And Professor Peach was extremely creamy with just a hint of peach. All in all, I enjoyed all their frozen treats — especially in this scorching Houston heat! Make sure you grab a bunch of napkins; it’ll get messy REAL fast. Follow them on Twitter @eatsieboys!
