Unfortunately, Edin will be closing her doors for good, soon. Personal stuff, the sucky economy, and fashion-apathetic Houston are the culprits. I’m quite dejected about this news because for a while, we had Brasil, Raye, and Edin, with Raye and Edin being purveyors of innovative, independent designers such as Anzevino Florence, Clu, Mociun, and She-Bible. The corner of Dunlavy and Westheimer was one of the coolest corners in Texas. Raye shuttered her doors sometime last summer and has now transformed into a yoga studio. Edin will probably close for good around the first week in February. Currently, everything in the store is 50% off, except for sale items. There were some lovely dresses and blouses which will be ideal once the weather returns to hot and humid. As Merce mentioned, she carries Vivienne Westwood for Melissa rubber shoes. Rubber shoes sounds so not appealing, but Melissa shoes are amazing. Made in Brasil, well-crafted and vegan approved, they are both durable and comfortable. The Vivienne Westwood collaboration just takes the designs to a whole ‘nother level. And again, I don’t know of any other boutique in Houston, much less in the Galleria that would have such imaginative, covetable wares. Stock is probably quite limited now and soon to be depleted. Still, there are some lovely togs to be had, including a gorgeous, complicated Prairie Underground jersey trench. Guys can stock up on their Helvetica«John Paul George and Ringo» tees, among other cool tees and Levi’s jeans. You will be missed Edin.

I bought my favorite jacket here while searching for some Prairie Underground. I would give the place more stars, but for the most part I tow the line between finding something spectacular and not being able to fit into anything here, not that it’s there fault. The staff is great and very encouraging. i always get a kick out of at least looking and I happened on some Vivienne Westwood plastic shoes last time I was here. :) which made my day. I also love that they carry Free People

I love this place. From the bottom of my heart, I really love this place, though it’s absolute murder on my pocketbook. It’s been a while since I stepped in here, which is great for my character or bank account or something, but sad for my wardrobe. There are some really lovely pieces that have been compiled into this little boutique, and it acts as a more affordable counterpart to its neighbor Raye from across the street. They carry jewelry, shoes, and both men’s and women’s clothing – the labels in the ladies’ section are from Free People, Ryu, Maeve, Ella Moss, and others, which make me do a little dance of happiness every time I walk in. And the staff? Always super nice. The first time I came here, it was after getting turned away at Silversmith since they didn’t have«bigger» sizes(anything larger than a size M is «plus size», y’all!). When I expressed my frustration about my previous experience with the girl at the counter, she chimed in with«Girl, whatever – you just have boobs!» and helped me pick out a dress that worked for the event I was shopping for. It’s still in rotation today and one of my favorite pieces. Hmm…I’ve been extra good this year… maybe it’s time for a little Christmas Present To Me From Me from Edin. Even if my wallet smarts a little afterwards, it’s worth it.

So I’ve been shopping at Edin since it was on 19th Street in the Heights, and it’s still as unique as ever. They carry well-known brands like Free People and Gentle Fawn, etc. but also always a few you’ve never heard of. Plus they have a small rack of quality vintage pieces. Every season they run a pretty sweet sale and I think are also starting to have some weekend events with a DJ and such. There’s always several fun things I want every time I go in Edin and, while some of their prices are a bit high, it’s worth it to just stop and find something awesome in one place instead of going to 10 others where everything is ugly. The staff here is also wonderful and very helpful. Currently rocking from Edin: a pair of electric green Melissa peep-toe flats(a cool brand of all-plastic shoes from Brazil that Edin carries year-round)

The boutique is very spacious, but feels cozier with the painted walls. The clothes are more relaxed casualwear with some vintage-y stuff mixed in. I saw some recognizable boutique brands like Free People. The whole store was on sale and I gravitated towards a cute dark blue deep v-neck halter dress with a lampshade-style pleated skirt more for going out.(I don’t know what to call that. You know, like the pink dress Carrie wore to the wedding at the end of season 5 to hide SJP’s pregancy.) However, couldn’t justify the $ 68 dress because I don’t really go out. And, my fiancé pointed out that my boobs would totally come flying out and I’d have another wardrobe malfunction.(Only happens when I’m dancing.) They also had women’s shoes and men’s tees. The men’s shirts were mostly of the snarky variety. My fiancé liked the«We need more government» t-shirt($ 25) and a plain tee with lots of funky pockets on the chest($ 29), but I talked him out of both, because I want him to look like a young adult, not a frat boy.

Cool clothes and accessories for men and women alike. Prices are reasonable, as are the styles — this is definitely more pretty t-shirt and sweater cool than clubby, fashionista cool. I’ve found a bunch of great tops and necklaces here over the years, and taken many male friends here for cute hoodies and t-shirts that weren’t from computer-related conferences.
