This is solely based on customer service. You cannot review food if you never receive it. I came in tonight(Sunday, at 6pm) and ordered ceviche. Not as an appetizer, for my meal. We made it through our adult beverages and a basket and a half of chips before my husband remarks it’s been a while since we ordered… he ordered a combo plate. So these two items together should have come out in no time. Well… just as soon as we comment on this to one another the waitress comes over to tell me they are out. Honestly, had it not taken 30 – 40 minutes for them to tell me… probably not a big deal. Had they told me at the start of the meal, we would have left. I wanted ceviche, for dinner… really quite simple. So when she brought back the menu and stood there, staring at me, waiting for my new order(which I told her I needed a minute) I was not pleased. When we finally told her to box our food so we could leave and get ceviche elsewhere, she tried to get us to stay for dessert on the house. What part of we want to leave so I can have ceviche is so hard to comprehend? The appropriate thing to do would have been to call over a manager or comp the queso we had while waiting for dinner. But no. She was quite aloof about the whole thing and we left throughly disappointed.

Not much I can say that my wife didn’t already cover in her review about the service we experienced tonight. I’m pretty shocked that it took 40 mins to come back that they were out of what my wife ordered. I made the mistake of having them box my dinner to go so we could go elsewhere to get her some ceviche. Moral of the story is that take out from Escalantes is no where worth Escalantes prices. We had to go out of our way to come to this location. I don’t expect we will make our way back here the next time I’m looking for blanco queso or bacon wrapped shrimp. I have no problem recommending the Woodway location.

I have posed a couple of reviews for Escalante’s. Every dinner has been wonderful. Webster’s Dictionary does not have enough good words to describe my satisfaction. This visit we tried a beef and a cheese enchilada dish. Good choice. Very well prepared. When you get your chips, make sure you ask for the green sauce. It is the best.

Brunch at Escalante’s? Really… it was great! First time at this location and I’m so pleased we went. The staff quickly put our table for 9 together. The servers were attentive and even the manager came by to check on our table. The french toast was delicious. It was so much better than I expected. It’s a huge long piece of bread crisped perfectly. I would definitely get them again. My friend had the migas and enjoyed it. The kids at our table could order off the regular or kids menu. The wide variety of regular lunch options as well as brunch items was really good. As we ate, the staff was very attentive. The manager came by and checked in on us. Our waitress never had to be asked for a refill because it was just there. Great service.

Not bad for a high end Mexican restaurant but could be a little better. For starters uncomfortable seating at the place where you wait. That’s not fun for anyone. Could be better overall. Needs improvement.

Excellent Mexican food! ! Very affordable with generous portions. Pitcher of Margarita and tableside guacamole with all the fixings was delicious and a must have when you dine here. Had the«Del Mar» seafood enchilada with a side of three shrimps. Yummy! Service was excellent and got right our need to have separate bills.

High quality Mexican food restaurant. Very healthy and clean food choices here as well for those inclined. Ample seating indoors and on the patio. Highly recommend the Skinny Ritas and table side made guacamole. Carne Asada and fajitas were delicious. Will definitely be back.

Tried the chicken fajitas. They were okay. The meat was really dry. Didn’t really enjoy their free chips either. Would recommend gringos or chuy’s instead

My favorite restaurants are those where you leave as full as you want but wishing you could keep eating forever. I asked the Host what the best thing on the menu was. She said the Camarones Rellenos — jumbo shrimp stuffed with a jalapeño slice and white cheese, oh, and wrapped in bacon. It was AMAZING! The guacamole was equally delicious– fresh with a little kick. Service was fast and friendly. Cannot wait for the next visit.

My company has booked luncheons here on multiple occasions. We had another luncheon on the books in their party room for a team get-together and baby shower. Escalante’s let us know 2 days before our lunch that they were kicking us out of their party room for a bigger party. Um, what? How is that ok? We won’t be booking ANYTHING at Escalante’s again.

Redeems Escalante: this location reminds me why I came to like Escalante in the first place and why I made it my regular go-to restaurant for many years. Great food, great tequila, and overall fun place to hang out and have a good meal. My regular spot on Woodway/Voss has gone down in many areas like food taste and customer service within the past two years and I felt sad that Escalante has seem to lost its way and its touch. The location here at Town and Country proves that Escalante still got it.

Given all the wonderful food spots in Houston, this place does not rank high on my list, although it’s a decent place to grab some Tex-Mex if you want. It gets pretty packed though, and during crowded times service is nearly non-existent after they take your order. The food is okay — nothing to rave about — but at least it is not horrible. When it is crowded, it gets pretty noisy and so it’s hard to maintain a conversation. Wait times for a table can be long, but at least there are a decent amount of seats around the bar area so if you get lucky you can find your own seating immediately. I do like the ambiance of this place though, despite the downsides. To my mind, this is not a place in Houston that wows you, but if you’re a local, it’s worth getting around to eventually.

The service was great, our server was nice, attentive and I felt like he really wanted our experience to be good and it was. I was with a group of 10 slightly needier people and he handled us very well! The portions in my opinion are perfect, most Mexican restaurants give you unnecessary amounts of food! This was quality and not quantity. I had the Shrimp Tacos, so fresh and delicious. It came with either Spanish or Cilantro Rice, the Spanish was better(I tried both). The bonus?! A nice dollop of Guacamole on my plate! Yesssss! Really fresh and creamy Guac to add to my Tacos, it really made my day. I also liked the décor/environment, it wasn’t cheesy. It was a more modern inspired Mexican theme, large windows with lots of natural light, much appreciated.

So disappointing. The food is still pretty good but we have been long-time regulars and have watched the prices go up, and the service go down. Is this place even managed? Wait staff is challenging to understand, the service is abrupt, food presentation poor and they charge way too much!!! We waited 20 min for our lunch order, had to ask repeatedly for a glass of water and it was not that busy. Escalantes, we are finished. I work too hard for my money to spend it at a restaurant that doesn’t care enough to properly train their servers AND charge way too much for their food. This ain’t Hugos! Your food is good, at best, but not memorable. Don’t waste your money here. Just not worth it.

Have come here for lunch a couple times with work friends. The food has never disappointed and is always very tasty. I like the sauces and salsa and such. There are some downsides. The parking situation during weekday lunch is miserable. Also, the service hasn’t been very great either. They are always a little slow and don’t go the extra mile. I’ll probably return, but inly for convenience and if I have time.

I was lucky to have dined here with my coworkers, thanks to my generous manager! It tasted so fresh, you’d think the kitchen contained a garden of its own. In my own thoughts, this is some overpriced tex mex food. Other than that, the food was amazing! I ordered fish tacos with a side of rice and veggies. Fish tacos was awesome with the green sauce that came along. I believe it was some type of cilantro sauce. I’m going to advise you to slap that sauce on because it’s too good to pass up. If you’re looking for apps, get the guac and queso. They make sure to let you know the guac is fresh because they have someone come out with a cart to whip it up right next to you! Their queso is on point too. I didn’t want to get full off chips and dip so I had to concentrate and not eat so much of it at the beginning of this lunch. Hence, I said beginning. We became full and didn’t make it to desert, but I will say their tres leches is a hit! How do I know? Because their food was once catered to our office as well. Even when it was cooked and packed to go, the food still tasted delicious. I had their beef fajitas and it was very tender and juicy. If only I had known of such place at the time, I would stack these fajitas up like a tower. Lunch looked a bit busy and service was still topped off. The server checked on us very often, refilled our drinks(water, I promise), and made us feel like we were being taken care of like we’re at home. I’ll be coming back for more! I’ll hope for another generous lunch from my boss haha jk.

I love Mexican food. I eat it several times a week, and Escalante’s is always one of my first choices. Since this location is near my office, we tend to drop by during the lunch hour. Escalante’s is a bit more expensive than most tex-mex spots, expect to spend at least $ 15 per person after tax and tip, but the food is tasty. We’ve only had friendly and fast service when we’re here, so you can easily get in and out in an hour on your lunch break — major plus. The margarita’s are also very good, but again if you’re not here for happy hour they start at about $ 9 each. I really like their queso blanco, and think it’s excellent. There is also a nice patio section to sit on if you’re craving some vitamin D and it’s not too hot/cold/humid out. If you’re in the town & country area and are craving some tex-mex, I’d recommend stopping here.

Great that they have vegetarian options and are so accommodating. I had a great lunch here over margaritas with a friend. Fabulous experience. The queso, however, left something to be desired(which was my major craving that day and mostly why I decided on there instead of la Madeleine next door). It wasn’t very hot temperature wise and downright bland spice wise. I added a spoonful of salsa to try and wake it up but that just made the Luke warm cheese colder. Womp Womp. I had a black bean, mushroom and spinach enchilada that was great though. My Cointreau margarita was also great. Service was pretty slow, though and our server’s section was mostly empty. No silverware for one of us upon dropping off entrees so we had to wait until we could flag down a bus boy to get her a napkin roll. Blah.

Plus a half a star. So first timer. The location is very nice. High ceilings. Nice and bright interior. Very festive and fun environment. Just try not to sit under the a/c vents. The queso was top notch. Nice, thick, and rich in flavor. Def recommend. The entrees. Okay. The traditional food like an empanadas were missing something. Maybe the seasoning or something. The portion size was a little small. If I didn’t have the chips and queso it probably wouldn’t have satisfied me. Sadly one order had an issue. We had found a chicken bone in one of the dishes. Nevertheless this place is nice but next time I’m just going to come in for drinks and queso.

Finally tried this place out. It’s alright. I don’t think I’ll really go back for a couple of reasons. One, the service was kind of off. Took a while to get attention of server, and took some time to get spoon and tortillas upon request. The price is a bit much, brunch entrees starting at $ 10 when you can get WAYBETTERSERVICEANDQUALITYFOOD at Cyclone Anayas, CHEAPER. The chips and salsa are standard. They do serve whole wheat tortillas but they’re really thick. Overrated.
