What’s one to do when a major appliance needs to be replaced in your kitchen and there’s a specific amount of space in which to fit this appliance? Add to that the limitation of energy connections and you can be in a real bind. Such was the dilemma I was presented with when(once again) the 24″ gas wall oven in my kitchen had a part fail that is no longer manufactured. Since this part is the computer panel«brains» that controls the oven, I had absolutely no option other than to replace the entire unit. I was NOT a happy camper. Apparently 24″ gas wall ovens are now harder to come by than hen’s teeth. I have absolutely no desire to do an entire remodel of my kitchen, and I do not in any way want to have to dig up my slab and have the existing gas line re-fitted under my existing island to accommodate an all-in-one slip in unit. Thanks to a tip from my usual repairman, I was referred to Factory Builder Stores in order to find what would work for me. My husband and I came in to FBS before Christmas when the oven first started acting up and after my repairman gave us the bad news. Lee helped us out, being very frank about our options. He’s the one that gave me the idea about the slip in unit, but it turns out that wouldn’t work(for a fleeting moment, that would have been sweet!). Turns out there is only one manufacturer of 24″ gas wall ovens for me to choose from, so Lee printed out the installations specs for me and had their installer come by to measure my existing cabinetry space to make sure it would fit. The installer also confirmed that I do not have a 220V connection behind the oven, so my only choice was to purchase a gas(rather than electric) unit as a replacement. About a week later, we returned to order our new oven. Once again, Lee assisted us. Extremely friendly and courteous, he even gave me some tips about cooking(and baking) items out on my gas grill in the meantime while I waited for this special-order item to arrive and be installed. Factory Builder Stores offers a wide variety of services: they are not just an appliance dealer. Apparently they do kitchen and bathroom remodeling, as there were tubs and sinks in the showroom. There were also multiple kitchen cabinet samples hanging on the walls(paint/stain varieties). But the kitchen appliances! Unbelievable! I so wish I had visited here when I needed to replace my dishwasher several years ago. The selection is phenomenal. Models from pretty basic to top of the line are available. Ovens, stoves and refrigerators galore! Wine fridges! You name it: FBS has got it. Ask about a manufacturer and they’ll give you an honest appraisal of its performance and reliability. They know all of the authorized service centers for all of their appliances, too, so if/when you need a repair, they’ll be able to steer you in the right direction. So impressed not only with their showroom and their merchandise, but also with the customer service and care that was provided to us. I would definitely recommend this store for anyone needing a new major appliance, particularly if you, like me, have special cabinet/cutout situations.
