Feather Salon

This review is for Jeff Burnett, who my daughter and I have being going to for over a year now. We both have difficult, coarse, very thick hair and Jeff does it beautifully. He can cut, style, straighten and color. We’ve had all of those services done by him. He keeps our hair healthy and beautiful. I definitely recommend him to anyone on the northwest side looking for a great stylist. He has the best personality and listens to what you want. He is amazing!
The salon is also really cute and the owners dog is so sweet. They have complimentary soda and keurig coffees. It’s awesome!

Angie was very nice and kept me engaged as she cut my hair. She did it quickly too. I was in and out within thirty minutes. The salon has drinks fully stocked for customers and the prices are worth it.

I went to Feather Salon about 6 months ago, after reading good reviews on Unilocal.After a brief consultation, including pictures of what I wanted, Jeff went to work highlighting my hair. I had explained that I wanted heavy blonde highlights with some lowlights/​color in between. My main goal was to blend my gray & just touch up where my previous highlights had grown out. When he was finished my hair was pretty dark & I told myself I just wasn’t used to it but that it looked ok, even though it wasn’t what I asked for. When I got home & really looked at it, though… it was awful. Very stripey/​chunky & the color was green-​ish & the blonde was brassy. I went back to have him fix it & he agreed that the color was off & blamed it on my hair. He redid it but it still was not at all what I asked for and I felt like I wasted $ 200. I will definitely never go back to this salon. The whole vibe was a little weird & I didn’t feel comfortable there.

I usually get my hair cut by Robin. She’s very nice, easy to talk to, listens to what you want and knows what she’s doing. One time I showed up on the wrong day, by mistake and she was out of town so Jeff cut my hair and he did a great job, as well.
I’ve seen lots of lovely cuts and color jobs done while I am there.
I have thick curly hair and Robin has done a great job with it, even when it thinned out a bit after a medical procedure.

Hit or miss. I had a great time with my hair dresser, Robin, and she tried to help me out with a new style. We ended up correcting a lot of it from home, and I’m pretty happy now. But I definitely left looking funky! We really did have a great time though. Very kind! :)

I have to say Robin is one of the best colorist I have found in a long time… My husbands occupation requires us to travel everywhere throughout the United States and its almost impossible to match my highlights and color… However, the first time I went to feathers I was given Robin and she was spot on!!! She is excellent and believe me I have been everywhere!!! Whenever I’m back in Houston I always make a point to see her!!! I recommend anyone ask for Robin you will be 100% satisfied!

As someone who has had long hair almost 10+ years of my life. (I haven’t had my hair short since I was in 5^th grade)
I was super duper nervous to get my hair cut. I read the reviews and woke up the next morning and decided to chop of all my hair.
It was time, my hair was super damaged and dry from having dyed my hair so much and doing ombré over 4 times. Although, it was at a beautiful length, (all the way down to my waist) it was time for a change.
First off, I want to say the receptionist that I spoke with over the phone multiple times was pleasant and patient, and very helpful.
She’s awesome.
I made a very last minute appointment, and Joannie cut my hair. She was super duper sweet and easy to talk to. She made me feel better about having my precious locks cut off. I’m glad she eased my worries a bit and I kinda talked her ear off.
I did have to come back in because the cut I got at first was a little too blunt for my liking, but that was more on my fault for not noticing and correcting that in that first visit.
And when I called back to ask to texture the ends and add slight layers, they were happy to help me.
Robyn textured my ends and gave me more layers and I was more than satisfied with the cut and the service I received.
I get compliments left and right on my hair and I rave about this place!
I will definitely be back.

Friendly staff and a nice environment but overpriced. It is my fault for not asking ahead but went to take my brother to get his haircut and after it was cut none of the hair on him was brushed off or even attempted to and the top of his hair and sides were uneven. Paid $ 23 for a basic men’s cut.

Let me just say that if you have blonde hair and need it to be highlighted or even just touch up the roots do not go to Alika. Although she is a sweet woman, she will mess up your hair. I have never left a salon so disappointed and sincerely embarrassed by the way I looked. I asked for simple highlights and, after she already tried to correct it once from them turning orange, walked out with almost a highlighter yellow around my face and on the top of my head. Had to go get my hair redone somewhere else. She either put too much color or too much hair in the foils so when it expanded it leaked out and even bleached my head.
I contacted the owner and she ended up reimbursing me my money, which was the right thing to do since I had to pay $ 220 there and $ 240 to get it fixed.
However, I just don’t want anyone to ever have to feel the same way I did when I left there and the next day.

Great job on my hair cut and color! Got a natural balyage, my roots done and several inches cut off by Alika. It took about 3 ½ hours but it’s truly a beautiful job. I will return! Thanks so much!

After a bad lip waxing experience at this salon I left and tried CutLoose Salon on Westheimer i realized how great this little gem really is. It’s hard to find a good salon and this place was great for my hair! Needless to say I will be returning to correct the beautiful ombré I had !!

If I could give my visit negative stars I would. I found this salon through Unilocal and made an appointment with Joannie online at 2 PM this past Saturday. When I went in I told her I wanted more blonde highlights with a little bit of red. Two and a half hours later, what I got is NOT what I asked for. My hair was at least 6 different colors (including a pink shade which wasn’t red AT all). She put a toner on my hair (which made NO sense as she was highlighting my hair not toning it down). When she was done, I thought «well maybe I need to go home and look at it in the mirror» not to mention she had another appointment and was running behind. When I got home, my boyfriend was alarmed and asked what I did to my hair. Unfortunately they were closed Sunday and Monday and I am going out of town tomorrow. I had to get it fixed at another salon. I wasted $ 165 at this salon for nothing! Today (Tuesday) I decided to go back in to the salon (after I paid money to get it fixed) and talk to the owner and explain what I had been through. I explained that the person that fixed it had to dye it brown because she was afraid that if she highlighted it again my hair would fall out from all of the damage. The owner was SO unsympathetic and somewhat rude. She said «well you shouldn’t have left if you didn’t like it, I realize we were closed on Sunday and Monday but we DON’T give refunds». This was after I explained to her I was going out of town tomorrow. She made absolutely no concessions, perhaps a free hair cut, or even let us color your hair next time you get it done? Talk about absurd customer service!
Well, unfortunately for you Feather Salon, I am posting this horrid review to match my HORRID hair. If any of you would like to look like a circus clown and let this «Colorist» (if that’s what you want to call her) do WHATEVER she wants to do to your hair, by all means visit this salon. Otherwise steer clear! Next? BBB!

I found this salon using Unilocal and I am SO glad I went!!! Robin really looks at the pictures you show her and is able to make your hair look just like it! She’s so easy/​fun to talk to and the salon is so cute! The other hair dressers did an amazing job too! I got my cut done by Alika and she was amazing as well! I love my cut/​color! I will definitely use them again!!!

Jeff was amazing! He knew exactly how to cut, color, highlight and style my hair. I have naturally curly, super thick, coarse hair. I’m very skeptical about letting anyone touch my hair. He couldn’t have done better. I drove from Bellaire to see him after work during 5 o’clock traffic and he knew that my hair would take longer than 2 hours. He stayed late for me to accommodate my schedule. His remarkable skills and superb customer service will keep me coming back! Thanks Jeff!

To be honest, I don’t take care of my hair that well. I used to go to a family member to get my haircut, but I was never, ever satisfied with it. It was just somewhere I went to keep my hair healthy.
I decided to find a salon and spend the money to get my hair cut properly. I was surprised when I looked on Unilocal and found a salon so close to my house! I looked at the website and the prices are very reasonable! I booked my appointment online with Robin for that week. I brought in pictures of how I wanted my layers and she did exactly that. I’ve never been excited and happy with my hair in my life! I would definitely recommend this salon.
It’s a shame because I’m living in San Antonio now for nursing school, but when I visit during spring break, I plan on making an appointment because my hair needs some TLC!

Why have I stayed away from feather salon for so long?
My hair was a mess… It has been a year since I had gotten a cut and 6 months since I used box dye. I decided to call feather salon on a whim hoping they had an opening. And to my delight they did.
This is my first visit to Robin’s new salon. It’s an amazing space and the décor is so cute!!! Her staff is awesome. They are just as friendly as Robin!
Amber did my cut and color and she did an amazing job! I was pretty vague on what I wanted. I knew I wanted to trim the dead ends off and some shade of brown with some highlights. After the consult she got started and I couldn’t be happier…
I will not be away from this salon as long as I have been!

Today I got a beach wave perm with Ashley! She was very sweet and did an amazing job! Friendly staff… and inviting atmosphere. I will truly go again! It’s not a place you will just happen to drive past… it’s tucked away in a shopping center, but it’s a great hidden gem! Check them out!

This salon is a hidden gem in Northwest Houston! I love that none of the staff here give off that snooty «I’m too good for this» vibe. Everyone is friendly and booking was easy (I particularly love the text reminders)!
My appointment was with Jeff and he did a fabulous job on my cut and ombré. He was very patient and took the time to look at the pictures I had in mind and brought swatches to make sure we were on the same page about color. He asked lots of questions so that there was no confusion about what I wanted. My previous ombré was a mess (and I’ll leave that salon anonymous) and he breathed life and color back into my hair. It’s obvious that he knows what he’s doing and that he’s passionate about it too. He’s easy to talk to and has great attention to detail.
Honestly, I saw everyone leaving Feather salon with gorgeous hair so these stylists know what they’re doing!

I decided first the try Feather salon for a haircut. The prices are very reasonable and upon the results I would then go for a colour. The salon itself is nicely decorated and you can help yourself to coffee and tea. I had my haircut by Robin. I was not really sure what I wanted but Robin decided long layers would look nice. At the last minute I asked Robin if she would cut a side bang and she happily went ahead and added a nice long bang to frame my face. Haircuts are super reasonably priced so I was a happy gal.
I went back to get my hair coloured. I decided on a full highlight. The colour came out super pretty, yet another great experience at Feather salon.

3 years of living in Houston, I’ve tried many hair salons, near and far, every place was a nightmare until I came to Feather! My first appointment was a haircut with Jeff, ofcourse I was nervous from past experiences but after meeting Jeff and the feather staff I fell in love with the place! Everyone is super friendly/​cool! They instantly offered me a beverage and constantly checked on me.
My stylist, Jeff, knows what he is doing and he did a magnificent job on my hair cut. I couldn’t be more pleased! And recently I got my hair colored by him. I was going in for a ombré but he added his own flare to it and it looks incredible!
