Fiesta Mart

Great customer service and excellent pricing on meat and produce. I really like all the Fiesta Marts.
They sell every part of the pig — I’ve gone there to pick up meat to make chicharrones.
They move a lot of produce and I always seem to find something I’ve never seen. Like flo de loroco, today.
And you can grab a bacon wrapped hotdog on the way out at the cart outside.

Fiesta is a destination. Not a «grocery store».
You’ll find an vast array of specialty spices, fruits, spices, sauces, organic fruits, beverages and vegetables from all over the word including the Caribbean, Latin America, India and Africa just to name a few.
They have a hot food selection, extensive seafood choices as well as an in-​house bakery.
Can be a bit overwhelming if you’re not familiar with the layout. I’ve been twice now and it’s becoming easier to navigate the isles looking for items.
It’s worth the trip.

Fiesta in this location is not just a grocery store. It has a Bakery with a small coffee shop that is great (ask for Gloria) with a Coffee machine that produce any kind a coffee, latte, cappuccino, regular to died for. Order any sweet treats, so yummy. The store is very clean have a good deli, I recommend the roasted chicken, no grease at all but moist and delicious as good selection of cold meats and cheeses. Also international items that are hard to find elsewhere. Fresh seafood and staff that know how to get it ready for your needs. Good produce and good prices. All I can tell you, go have a REAL CUP OF COFFEE and maybe a sweet bread or cake and do your shopping and get a good deals for your money.

You either love or hate Fiesta. I fall in the first camp.
Can’t beat their produce – they have a growing organic mix of fruits and veggies – and fresh meats. I have learned about one brand that is minimally processed and pasture raised chicken and beef.
You can find many specialty sauces, spices and other items from sections in the store that cater to Latin America, Caribbean, African, and other parts of the world.
They have a hot-​meat and deli section and you can’t go wrong with a hunk of carnitas to take home and munch on during the week. Oddly, you have to pay for prepared meats (and other deli items) there in the deli section, as opposed to the cashier upfront. Bizarre.
They have an in-​house bakery, but I have typically found that Mexican desserts look a lot better than they taste. Not sure if I am expecting them to be sweeter, but unless you just have to have that tres leches, you might want to pass on the one here.
At certain times of the year they have plants and I bought a papya tree, but it was soon done in by our mild, but too-​cold Houston winter.

I love this store, they have such a large selection of produce and foreign products. Prices are great, store is always clean and never overly crowded like HEB. I wish they would expand their natural and health food products, seeing as there is a huge health movement they could stand to offer more products along this line. That being said, they still offer a few products that even HEB doesn’t, like coconut aminos.

It is affordable food Mart.

While visiting houston over the thanksgiving holiday I visited this store a lmost every day. Once for non perishable type food its to stock the hotel, next for liquor at the attached liguor market, third to buy tickets (at a discounted price) to the zoo. Parking wasn’t bad and the store seemed to be clean and well organized.

After visiting another grocery store recently that was supposed to be the «be-​all-​end-​all» that left me with a very dry taste in my mouth, I kept thinking that these people had probably never been to Fiesta.
So after all this time, I’ve decided to put in my two cents.
I love Fiesta. So why not five stars? Because of the location. When there was a Fiesta at the corner of Kuykendahl and FM1960, I would have given THAT one five stars, but it closed. This particular Fiesta is a nightmare to get in and out of due to heavy traffic in the Willowbrook area.
But it’s worth the trip. If you are a SERIOUS cook (or even a dabbling cook who is looking for unique ingredients), Fiesta’s got it.
Produce: there is more produce than I know how to pronounce. I really could use my Nana here to help me out, as she spoke Italian and could translate and interpret what some of this stuff is. But some of it I do know: multiple varieties of chard, cardoon, every variety of pepper you can think of, multiple varieties of eggplant, all sorts of roots, different kinds of tomatoes, an abundance of fruits — the list goes on. I could fill up my basket with just produce. No joke. And it’s crazy cheap.
Fish: wow. Know what you want, and leave your kids outside of the fish area (oh, yeah, they will comment on the «smell» for sure) — but this stuff is fresh off the boat and the choices are superb. They’ll pack it in a bag with crushed ice, too, for your trip home — sweet!
Deli area: their cheeses are vast and not just for the Latinos. Look beyond that. Fiesta carries the BEST ricotta cheese outside of New York that I have ever tasted. If you make your own lasagna, baked ziti or cannolis, get your ricotta here — but use it within two days, because it really IS that fresh.
Groceries: I could spend all day sifting through their aisles of regular and ethnic foods. Name a spice. They have it, either in bulk or packaged. All different kinds of seeds. And pasta, good pasta, fresh or dried. All kinds of pickles and other German goodies. There’s just too many things to list!
Wine/​beer: every once in a while, you’ll see something really good on sale. Stock up! The prices are good and the wine or beer they have on sale is not some knock-​off «no name» brand, either. It’s the stuff I usually buy at Spec’s or Costco, and it will be at least 20% cheaper.
There are times that I’ve shopped their bakery aisle, but not frequently and not recently, so I’ll withhold a review on that area. Same with the meats, as it’s been years since I’ve purchased any meat from Fiesta.
But when I leave this store buying over $ 50 worth of just fruits and vegetables, you know that they’ve got good stuff. I just wish it were in a more accessible location, because particularly around the holidays this can be an impossible store to attempt to access.

I love Fiesta for their ethnic foods. I wish they didn’t close at 11 on weekends. All the other stores in this area close at least at midnight. I also wish they they had a grab and go section of their deli. other than that its great though. They have a big selection on a lot of things. They are competitive in pricing, although I have found on some of their Mexican things food town tends to be cheaper. Its the only grocery store that does all the annoucments in English and Spanish. I LOVE their cheese selection, deli and meat counter. I wish they would send the ad to my house too, I live closer to them than I do Randell’s and I always get the Randell’s ad. Bottom line: If you are looking for something that should be in the «ethnic» area of other food stores, even if it is just something kosher or English then Fiesta has a good chance of having it. Just don’t go too late at night.

If you are looking for something particular for a special recipe or ethnic meal this is the place to find it. You could drive to the central market and fight the crowds and pay more or go to Fiesta and get the same thing for half the price.

I have given a lot of thought as to how I feel about this Fiesta. It’s the closest grocery store to my house, so it’s great if I’m in a pinch, if I want cheap produce or like Tina said, looking for a selection of international items. The $ 1/​slice cakes ($ 2/​slice of tres leches) on the weekends are pretty decent as well. The country DJ that croons absurdly loud by the doors is entertaining. The stand out front selling elote smells incredible and will one day entice me to purchase a cup. All in all, I’d say it’s A-OK…except when it comes down to their meat…
Ugh…a while back I bought some ground turkey. I should’ve known better b/​c it wasn’t as pink as most ground turkey. Anyway, it absolutely reeked when I opened the package and was consequently, made into a fetid batch of cat food.
This past weekend I thought I’d get over my phobia of their meat department and give the ground turkey another shot. Um… no. Yet again, it was not pink and there was… mold growing on it? Fuzzy white stuff. Disgusting. They really need to do something about the temperatures they refrigerate their meat at, or check it more often for spoilage. I will likely never eat the meat here, but for non-​perishable packaged goods and cheap produce in a pinch, it will suffice. I still think that the HEB up 249 at Louetta has a better selection of produce.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for at Kroger, Randall’s, or H-​E-​B, there’s a 99.9% chance that you could probably find it here.
If you go to this particular Fiesta, don’t park at the right-​hand entrance. You’ll have to pass the «concession» stand, which it’s hard to do. You’ll be forced to get a roasted corn cob and a snow cone (or whatever you want to call it).
The main reasons why I like this Fiesta:
1) Fruit selection. Not as good as an Asian market but way more variety than Kroger that’s for sure. Mangoes, kiwi, plantains, dried fruit… nothing exotic but there’s just more of an abundance than your average supermarket.
2) Variety of services. You can pay utilities; purchase money orders and concert tickets; send money via Western Union; cash checks. Just to name a few.
3) International section. Most supermarkets have a teeny tiny international aisle (if that). At Fiesta, there’s about 5. The products are actually imported from the country. I can find Japanese Pocky sticks. German strawberry jam. Lion Bars from France. Treacle, Hula Hoops, cream crackers, rich tea biscuits (not cookies), orange marmalade and chocolate buttons from the UK. In fact, I spend the majority of my time in the international section.
4) The bakery. Excellent selection of Mexican bread. Good tres leches cakes but not as good as the selection they had at the I-​10 /​Blalock location. They had coffee flavored tres leches there. I’ll miss that Fiesta location. This location not only houses a bakery but a deli and seafood department as well.
5) Excellent natural foods/​organic selection. I’m not an organic nut but wanted to mention this because you might be. They have plenty of stuff here and compared to Whole Foods, not as expensive.
6) Liquor. This Fiesta has an entirely separate liquor /​beverage mart. Again, not a drinker but you might be.
The store is huge. It’s clean. Prices are a little bit better than H-​E-​B for staple food products like milk and bread etc. but not so much of a difference for items like Blue Bell ice cream. That’s pretty much the same.
When I go grocery shopping, I fill up my cart (this also includes cleaning products because that in itself can tack on $ 50 to your bill). A full cart at Kroger is around $ 120. A full cart at Wal-​Mart is around $ 100. A full cart at Fiesta… $ 80.
I’ve converted into a Fiesta shopper.
