Went to the 4^th annual Spacetaker’s Wham — it was so interesting! My cousin & I went and really enjoyed perusing and embracing all the artist talents. So many ideas and beautiful art that can purchased. The various local artists very hand-​on and entertaining. The kids were able to play with clay and create pottery. My two favorites are Betsy Evans, whose pottery reminded me of the Nightmare before Christmas, gorgeous handmade pieces. The other Artistic Bijoux, wow the colors are amazingly eye-​catching. Very aesthetically pleasing!

Art enthusiasts – be it visual, performing and even music – should know what FAC is all about. It’s a non-​profit organization compiled of 25 of Houston’s small to mid-​size art groups: Aurora Picture Show, Oprah in The Heights, The Orange Show, DiverseWorks and Mildreds Umbrella Theater Company are just a few members part of FAC.
What FAC does that makes them so special is they bring awareness to said organizations and keep locals like you and I up to date with what’s going on in the scene; and Houston has a lot goin’ on: art openings, theatre shows, mixers, benefits and much more.

spacetaker is a non-​profit arts awareness organization that provides resources to local emerging and mid-​career artists. they publish an extensive list of art events in houston on their website. they also host monthly artist saloons to provide opportunities for education and interaction with artists in our community.
they just moved downstairs into an impressive new space in the winter street studios building. the size of their offices have expanded dramatically and there will now be a learning and resource center for artists to use computers, scanners, and other career-​building resources. parties are a lot of fun as well as their annual gala. what a fun and interesting group of people!
