Although I must admit, it was hard to find this park(don’t always trust your GPS), it was well worth the goose chase around down town. This monument is in a beautiful park in a great part of the city. The statue has quotes, and years that he accomplished things around the walls of the monument. It’s in a circle of brick so you can walk around the entire section. The best part of this monument is the view of the city. The grass is green and well kept, you can see the bayou running through the heart of the city, and some of the most spectacular views of Houston I’ve ever seen on «ground level.»

The Better Bush. This is the Real President Bush that Texans are proud to claim. He was the 41st President of the United States. This monument shows a mini timeline of his historic accomplishments through 4 pictures. The statue itself is not life sized, it’s a bit bigger but not overwhelming. This monument sits at the top of a hill with him facing the downtown skyline. This is one of the few Polaroid spots in Houston. If you continue out along Preston you will be able to gaze at some more pieces that make Houston special. If you look up you can see 7 tall metal art pieces, known as Houston’s Seven Wonders. Just looking at them you might say…“cool”, but these pillars are made up of artwork from local children cut into 150 metal panels. They are supposed to represent different parts of Houston’s history: agriculture, energy, medicine, manufacturing, philanthropy, technology and transportation. All of the children that were selected were born in 1986, the year of Houston’s sesquicentennial. During the day these things are a beauty to stare at but at night they are lighted up like huge lanterns.
