We came here on a recommendation from a friend and everything was delicious. A particular highlight was the scallops with morel mushrooms! Amazing. The raspberry puff pastry was also delicious. I think my husband inhaled that and his trout! Service was also outstanding, very curtious. Excellent.

Note — this isn’t a review of their food/waitstaff/ambiance, just their management/logistics Be aware that Georges reservation system does not work correctly with OpenTable. We made a reservation and got a confirmation midday. Showed up for dinner, to be told our reservation had been cancelled… sure enough, checking my email there was a cancellation notice that afternoon, but since I’d seen the confirmation, it never occurred to me to check my email 10x that day to see if something had changed. 6:30 reservation, the restaurant was ¾ empty, but we were shown the door, and the manager was annoyed with us, rather than being conciliatory about it. Oh, and if you have a manual transmission, don’t valet… we watched him struggle to get the manual in front of us moving, until he gave up to come talk to us.

If you need a Vacation in France but can’t get away dinner at George’s Bistro is the next best thing. The food is fabulous and the décor authentic. For an authentic French experience you can’t beat Bistro George

Staff was very nice, but the food was just not great. The foie gras with brioche was good. My fish with lobster bisque was weird and not good. The seafood, mussels, and escargot had a bit of freezer burn kind of smell. It wasn’t fresh. Was very disappointed at our experience since we read such great reviews and was hoping it was going to be an amazing dining experience. My husband had the duck with orange sauce and our friend had the lamb. I tried some of it and it was mediocre at best.

Service: Very good, no problems with server or owner(who both worked all the tables). Atmosphere: Extremely charming converted two-story house with a quaint and cozy feel Food: Mussels(moules farcie setoises) were delicious, house special duck breast was excellent, house special bouillabaisse was pretty good. Wine: Fairly wide selection of French wines, mostly by the bottle but with a few choices by the glass. Authenticity: The owners are from France and will happily speak French with you, too. Overall: Great experience, will certainly go back.

They were nice about reservations and all and service was great. Till I ask the owner for the bathroom and she is like we only have one. I’m like ok. 5 mins later she walks by me and I’m like oh I should have gone earlier. The gal of this middle-aged pesudo French woman telling me to go to Papa Deux where they have many bathrooms. I don’t pull the race card, but the audacity of this woman to tell me to go to the equivalent of a TGIF. Anyway, needless to say I’m not going back to this quaint little French place with awesome food.

My fiancé took me here last night for my birthday and everything we had was fantastic. I was a little hesitant when we walked into the restaurant at 6:30pm because we were the only people there, but we both loved the cozy french ambiance. We ended up sharing a bottle of one of their house red wines(which was just ok, nothing spectacular) with appetizers of their petite house salad and french onion soup. I’m not normally a big french onion soup fan but this was delicious. For dinner we had the duck confit in orange brown sauce and one of their specials for the night — the loup de la mer(sea bass) — both were superb and I still can’t decide which I liked better.

I had a wonderful experience at Georges for dinner. We will definitely come back. Valet parking available for $ 4. We ordered the escargots for the appetizer. They were served in a sizzling hot dish, very juicy and delicious. The complimentary bread and butter was very good! Highly recommend the red snapper quenelle and duck confit cassoulet for entrees, though we still need to try them all! The quenelle is very interesting — a poached creamed fish in a lobster sauce. The texture was very light and fluffy and was quite conducive to absorbing the rich lobster sauce, which had pieces of lobster, shrimp, and scallop. The dish also came with a mini potato gratin and a crispy croissant. The cassoulet was surprisingly flavorful(delicious bean stew) and the duck confit was fall apart tender. They have a great wine selection and we ordered a very nice chardonnay. Profiteroles for dessert — a very generous serving for the price! Our dinner took over two hours but we never once felt like we were waiting for the next course or looking for the server. Service is wonderful and unobtrusive. It felt nostalgic to be back where Feast used to be but we are glad that such a nice restaurant took its place.

We have followed Georges and Monique at each restaurant. The food is amazing and the sauce incomparable. Tonight is a study in lobster. The food is not only delicious but the presentation is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Made reservations, drove across town, got there and was told: «so sorry, our computers are down, the wait will be too long. Sorry». Just lost 2 great customers. Don’t waste time with going here!!!

Terrible experience – from the unfriendly host/owner to the mediocre food. The host did not welcome us and ignored us all night long; the service was slow and inefficient; nobody told us about the specials and had no answers to basic questions about the menu; and the food took forever. The food: generic onion soup, soggy red snapper, beef stew with meat that had equal portions of fat and meat, greasy potatoes. My husband actually got sick from the food when we got home. This restaurant is overpriced and seriously overrated.

I have been to this place before when it was FEAST but Georges Bistro is a far more superior experience. We went there last Saturday night and where greeted by Chef George’s wife and the waitress Victoria –who we later found out she is Chef George’s grandaughter. The ambiance is very cozzy and very French. There is only the 3 of them and one helper running the restaurant so they take only a few reservations a nigth. We were 4 people and share three appetizers: Escargots, French onion soup and the pâté of the day. They were all very good and served with warm bread and butter. For entrees we had the snapper filet with fennel confit, duck with orange sauce, veal liver(day special) and the Red Snapper«Quenelle». Every dish was succulent and made to perfection. The Quenelle was the most delicious dish I have had in a very long time. I can’t wait to go back and have it again. We had two desserts(including the cremee Brulee) and two bottles of wine. I could not believe the bill was only $ 50 per person. This would have costed at least $ 100 per person at the other French restaurant down the block. Victoria was extremely nice. She explained to us the culinary history of her grandfather, how he is the only one in the kitchen preparing all the dishes, and then both Chef George and his wife came to our table to talk to us. That was very nice. If you are the kind of person that want a very calm dinner, where nothing is rushed to your table, and enjoy a typical French dinner experience, this is the perfect restaurant for that. I really LOVE this place and will come back many times.

This is probably our most favorite restaurant in Houston. They offer super quality French food and a nice wine selection. The ambience is also great — it has authentic cozy environment that makes you feel you are really dining in France. Wine. While you can get rather good price on Burgundy(both white and red), Alsace, and Rhone wines, Bordeaux is a bit overpriced. However, you can still find good value in Bordeaux, e.g. Ch Batailley. You can also get gems like Ch La Dominique 1998 for very reasonable price considering its quality. We are big fans of George and Monique’s culinary talents and have been following their restaurants in Houston for a long time(La Bracante, bistro de Arts, and the one on Kirkwood/Westhiemer from more than 10 years ago, for which I don’t even remember the name).

Really delicious, well executed, rustic French fare in a cozy atmosphere. My hesitance to give all five stars is really my own prejudice of French food in general — I am not a butter fan or a regular meat consumer, and I usually prefer cuisines with more pizzazz than I feel French food possesses. But despite my wary expectations, I was pleased to find that Georges Bistro does not appear to use excessive amounts of butter(how very un-French!), all the meats were wonderfully tender, and the flavors of our three entrees were subtle, warming, and delightful. It felt as if we had stumbled on a cold winter’s night, into the intimate dining room of our great aunt Cécile, and were treated to her culinary delights. Unfortunately, our dinner experience was somewhat negatively affected by a nearby couple loudly discussing their disdain for Obama. C’mon dude. Regardless of your political leanings, we would all prefer you keep that shit far from the ears of innocent bystanders who are simply trying to enjoy their delicious cassoulets(and delicious, they were!) In spite of the angry ramblings of swollen-faced bridge trolls, I look forward to returning to Georges Bistro soon!

I won’t be returning to Georges. We visited during restaurants weeks. I made a reservation. When we arrived the hostess asked if we had a reservation. Yes, I replied. Then I requested the HRW menu. She said you can’t have it if you didn’t make a reservation. I looked at her. She redefined reservation to mean you had to request the HRW menu when you made your reservation. So, not only did she refuse to let us order off the HRW menu, but she did not allow us to donate money to the food bank by refusing us. BIG mistake. A bad restaurant experience is discussed more than a good experience! Let’s just say I have discussed! The food didn’t save Georges from negative comments from my husband and myself. We won’t be back.

We went for HRW and they were very friendly and also our waitress had a cute French accent. Issue is parking, it is definitely only valet. Don’t attempt to park across the street in the empty parking lot, as we saw someone getting their car towed when we left the restaurant. We had the amuse bouche which was a smooth pâté with toasts… delicious, the only sad part was a hard item that I originally thought was a walnut but it ends up they were bones… not sure how it got in the smooth pâté. We ordered in addition to the HRW menu a pâté for 2 to share and it came with olives, cornichons, and a delicious country pâté in a jar… it was very good. The first course was a vegetable terrine which was delicious and fresh… I have not seen another restaurant in Houston do this as it is a lost food form that the French have perfected and Americans just don’t appreciate. it was accompanied with a vinegar tomato purée… yummy. The smoked salmon is house made and was good although I like a heavier smoke flavor. Dinner we tried the beef tenderloin which was excellent, the rabbit which was also excellent, and the snapper which was light airy and fluffy a real treat as again a technique I rarely see in the Houston restaurants). Dessert was a French version of rum pudding and a raspberry mouse cake that was incredible light and airy. Also delicious. We loved it when Georges owned the Bistro Don Camillo and miss it because it was closer to our home. Georges shows his food skills have not diminished an iota but we just wish it was not so far in town.

George is by far one of the best chefs in Houston. Impeccable taste and textures for all his dishes and always goes the extra mile with the little decorations(little flower petals in the salad). There is not one thing I will not try and I’m never dissapointed. Monique and the hostess and waiters/waitress are very sweet and welcoming and always aim to please. The wait isn’t bad since there is one cook plus the authentic French vibe really relaxes you and helps you romanticize how cute and vintage the restaurants’ interior is. Dessert is always delicious and the chocolate gauteau and crème puffs melt in your mouth. If you want a true French meal you just need to come here for yourself.

Have heard about this restaurant and don’t know why I did not get there sooner. Finally had dinner there last Saturday evening and can not wait to go back. Excellent French cooking, nice wine list, reasonable prices, good service and a very attentive owner. This is about as good as it gets in Houston. Had the Duck Breast in Orange Sauce which was as good as I would have in the French countryside or a small bistro in Paris. Oui-la-la!

I’m not sure if this is a fair review because my friend and I basically had their appetizers only. That does not mean that we only ordered one. We order at least ¾ of what is available. No shame in our game. This place use to be Feast which unfortunately, I was not able to try. Moving on, this is what we ordered: — Clam Chowder(Pretty flavorful and creamy, 2nd favorite dish of the night) — Pâté du Chef(they used duck and pork liver, but i’m use to a creamy consistency where it is easy to spread, but this one is too chunky) — Medaillon de Foie Gras Masion(creamy texture, paired well with terrine, the confit provided a nice break from the fattiness from foie gras) — Escargots a la Bouguignonne(really good texture, but the flavors did not merry well with the escargots. By added too much flavor, it proved to be too much for the dish. If it was just salt, pepper, and lemon = perfection) — Moules Farcies Setoise(favorite dish of the night by my friends and I, Not over cooked and therefore not chewy. Garlic, parsley, and butter mussels are good anytime anywhere) I reserved a table on opentable at 7:30PM for 4 on a Sunday. I am not impressed with the courtesy with the hostess. She was not really friendly or appreciate our business. She expected that we will be typically college kids who is trying to fine dine, but resorted to this place. There’s an upstairs which I believe that is where the bathroom is. There is one chef, one hostess(also semi-server), and a server. They all spoke French and it made it feel as if it was authentic. The high tables were usually for 2 was pushed together for us and the usual spot where they put the tables is awkward. They were at the center of the room. Server is quite busy with what tables she had and hostess was quite pushy trying to get us out. The entrees look like substantial sizes for about $ 20+ but I do not care to come back. Foie Gras breakfast at Triniti blows this place’s foie gras out of the water. Parking is valet and complimentary. Parking at this place is really, really limited so valet is a must. Food is overall decent, but I probably won’t go back.

We had a wonderful lunch at Georges Bistro within a few days after they opened. Georges and his wife Monique were incredibly hospitable and friendly. We loved every dish we tried. We had the Duck Rillette, Onion Soup, Escargot, Duck Breast in Orange Sauce and Duck Leg Cassoulet. The Cassoulet really stood out. Desserts were wonderful as well. They have a small but very good wine list. The restaurant is in a nice little house with a rustic French feel. Seating is comfortable and the service terrific. We look forward to returning many more times. Special features: fit for foodies, notable wine list, romantic, neighborhood gem, great for lunch
