Computer Works Store Location has closed & is at a new location: Greenspoint — 171 N. Sam Houston Pkwy E Houston, TX77060 (281) 589– Want a used desktop for laptop for basic duties like word processing and surfing the net? This place is it. Desktops are generally more durable than laptops. If you are not a computer tech, I would stick to the used desktops. Peace.

this is the most affordable pc shop in the entire greater Houston area. I make sure to stop in every few days to see what gems I can find. This is ever PC kids dream come true.

I’ve been to this location a few times. In fact, I’m going again today. You can really find some GREAT deals there. I bought a juicer there for 6.99 and it worked great. Most items that are electronic however are as is, so just be cautious!

Now this is what I’m talking about. Nice clean store, wide aisles, and fantastic customer service. The front counter is large and organized and set back from the lines of clothing so that there is room to create a proper line. The lady who checked me out yesterday was super sweet and I had a really nice conversation with her about costumes and when they put new(used) products out. Found everything that I needed and a little bummed I didn’t have more cash because there were some awesome finds that I really wanted. The Goodwill on Hwy 6 needs to take notes.

I was looking for a quick deal on a laptop. I heard about this place from a relative and ironically the local news feature this place last week as a good place to find a deal so I made the 45 minutes trip across town hoping to find something great. I was disappointed. The store was smaller than I thought it would be and while they had a plethora of desktops available, there was only 2 laptops. One was really nice. It appeared to be gently used but was on sale for close to 500.00. I didn’t come prepared to spend that kind of money. So I settled for the older model next to it. I was interested in the laptop for work purposes only so it didn’t need to be fancy or new. So for about 230.00 I found it to be a steal. The clerk was ready to ring me up and send me out the door but when I began asking questions about warranty and the operating system she became kind of irritated. I also asked her to show me that the DVD drive and USB drive worked. The DVD drive checked out, however their seemed to be a problem with the USB drive. She determined that the mouse she initially used was broken so she used a new one and proved to me that the drive was fine. After I checked out the machine a little longer and found it to be okay I decided to purchase it, which made the impatient clerk happy. But I noticed that the laptop had shut down several times since I had been there. The clerk explained to me that it was in «sleep mode» which I knew wasn’t true. As it shut down for a 3rd time, she tried to turn it back on. This is when I saw the infamous«blue screen» which indicated the laptop has had a virus and was corrupt. I had experienced this with a laptop I had in the past. The clerk and another employee were not surprised about the condition. They knew but were still willing to sell it to me without being honest. I saw the blue screen and immediately stated«thank you and goodbye». They asked was I still going to purchase the laptop and I laughed. I was kind of disappointed at the selection(which I know can change daily) but I was more disappointed that they would try and sell me a machine they knew didn’t work.

Awesome place to find stuff to fix up. If you know a little about computers, can use screwdriver and install OSs, than this place is a gold mine. They have PCs and Macs!

I get joy from buying other people’s stuff… That and where else do you go to get cheap costume clothing and to buy VHS tapes for a $ 1?
