This is one of the best designed runs in town. There are plenty of 5Ks but few 10Ks and this one is 6.2 miles ~ 10K. Great training run for anyone trying to train for the Houston Half Marathon or Full Marathon. It’s set up in an area with lots of parking and the City Centre area provides for a pretty back drop.

I honestly can’t wait to do this one again in 2014, with the hopes they remember to place all the water stations the map states they will have(every 2 miles), I still think there were at least 2 missing. 6.2 miles weaving throughout surrounding neighborhoods of the CITYCENTRE area, with a start and finish that ends in a shopping/retail area. The medals are given as you cross the finish line and to be honest with how many sponsors and the quality of the shirt as well as the medal I felt like I hadn’t paid enough($ 4510K) to take part in such a great event. This was a very green oriented event, even down to the point that the goodie bags were virtual, allowing you several weeks after the event to pick and choose which offers you would like to gobble up without wasting tons and tons of paper. I especially enjoyed the plants that were given out as a gift from sponsor, Trees for Houston(I like to gardener so I’m a sucker for free additions to my yard.) Also the amount of giveaways from Sun & Ski, the delicious baked goods and bananas from Corner Bakery Café, my weakness for cucumber water from Squeezed, and so much more. Here, here, to being Green!
