HardCore Pilates

Love this spot! It’s called hardcore for a reason. You’re guranteed to break a sweat and feel the burn. I give five stars because:
1. There’s parking
2. The facility is organized and clean (cubbies, towels, water)
3. Wayne, the instructor, is fantastic. He’s friendly, personable, and knows his clients (most by name). He’s hands on, ready to assist with your positioning and the machines to help keep you in sync with the classes pace. He always modifies the resistance to suit your experience/​level. His workouts are swift and challenging and the class seems to be over before you know it!

We absolutely love Hardcore Pilates! Wayne & Patricia are great people & trainers! A great workout with quick results!!!

Attended my first class today. It was hard but a great work out. The instructor was very attentive and the other class participants were supportive! I look forward to continuing.

The work outs are great!
One piece of feedback I have for this studio is t would be great if they could do just a few things to improve the amenities (shower). A bath mat and trash can in the shower area would be the quickest and most basic improvements. The bath mat is badly needed. I had to mop the floor with my own towel from home which was pretty gross but necessary to be considerate to others. If they wanted to step it up further they could provide lotion, towels– these are things that some other classes and gyms in the area provide that make the experience rely great especially if you take classes before work in the early morning. Thanks!

I’ve tried a lot of the local pilates places via ClassPass but have to say this one gives THE best workout of them all. Obviously by their name, their big focus is on core so you’ll be planking a lot. This is the only place I’ve been where I’ve actually felt sore after! Also, the instructors are upbeat and great.

I did not enjoy my workout here. The lady at the front desk was not friendly or welcoming considering this was my first time at the studio. I don’t think my instructor was trained well enough to teach a pilates class. I would not come here again…

The reformers are el cheapo and the instructors are mediocre at best and not particularly friendly. You will get a good workout but the ambiance is base.

Hardcore Pilates lives up to its name! I’ve never been to one of these studios but I’ll definitely be back. I was a little lost looking for the place but just park in the garage and walk up to the second floor. Reasons Hardcore gets 5 stars:
— Upbeat music to keep you moving and energized
— the instructor, Wayne, was accommodating to my noob self. He customized and individualized the workout for me since it was my first time
— there’s only 10 – 12 machines in a room so the instructor can see and help you with your form
— they push you and make you work hard, concentrating on using your core, arms, legs… hell, everything!
Most of the people in my class seemed to be regulars and were in great shape! I need to get on their level. Definitely check out Hardcore Pilates if you’re looking to add something new to your workout routine!

I tried to contact this place so many times by phone and by email and no one has gotten back to me. I guess because it was a question regarding Groupon. I ended up not buying it since my question didn’t get answered.

I came here recently using my Class Pass and attended a regular reformer Pilates class. Having seen the high prices this place charged for normal clientele, I came in with high expectations and was disappointed. First of all, this studio is in an office building which means you share a bathroom with everyone on the floor which feels awkward when changing into workout clothes after work. In addition, the waiting area is very small and the place did not have the spa like ambience that a lot of boutique workout places offer.
I showed up early and got an opportunity to observe the class before me and the front desk personnel.
The lady teaching the class before me looked horribly bored and lacked enthusiasm. As the previous class let out, the clientele was very friendly in complimenting the instructor on her class and saying thank you to the front desk girl. The response by the staff was underwhelming to say the least.
When I got to the class, I kept expecting the instructor to introduce herself and give me a quick run down of the workout. The studio was aware that I was new as I had to fill out paperwork. I eventually waited long enough and introduced myself to the instructor.
The class itself was pretty hard and I felt sore for the next two days. The instructor was good about giving me specific instructions about form and what to do so I appreciated that. The clientele was again, very friendly, engaging themselves and me in small conversation before class.
I liked the workout so I will be back via class pass but could never imagine paying full price. The amenities and lack of customer service overall doesn’t justify the price.

I have been coming to Hardcore Pilates for a few months now and overall my experience has been great until I had the unfortunate experience of having a class with Fawn. Prior to Fawn all my classes had been with Wayne who is a very experienced and excellent instructor. If based solely on Wayne this review would have been 5 stars.
With Fawn never having taught me before you would expect an experienced instructor to come and introduce themselves to people they don’t know and find out if I have any restrictions. Not at all. When she did come in she greeted her friends in the class and was very dismissive to everybody else. She jumped right into class. I decided to point out to her that I have issues with my back and she stared at me blankly and said ok.
Her class was difficult which I don’t mind. What I did mind was her spending the entire class in the mirror. If she wasn’t chatting with her friends then she was looking at herself in the mirror. Not once did I see her go around and correct anybody’s form. She would just yell out exercises and springs and go back to her friends or the mirror. At 1 point I tried to tell her my weight was too heavy and she replied You don’t look old and laughed. Ok so now I have to be ridiculed if Im struggling with a weight. Since her class I’ve had back pain I haven’t had in a long time. I don’t know when I’ll be able to return to Pilates but when I do I won’t be taking her class. I’ll stick with Wayne. If I could have done a 1 star review just on the instructor I would have but I didn’t think that was fair to the company. But personally Fawn gets a 1 star and a stern warning to not take her class.

We walk out of Hardcore feeling stretched and rejuvenated! This is the hardest work I ever done without wearing down a ligament.

The new year was hard for me to get going and find motivation so I decided to step outside of my normal realm searching for something different. I was introduced to Pilates and happened to stubble onto Hardcore Pilates. I can honestly say that the staff are simply outstanding! From the trainers, office manager, and owner they are the best! For me it’s about balance and they are able to demonstrate that in a professional manner yet keeping the upbeat style of modern city life. I enjoy going as much as I enjoy the challenge of becoming more fit as I reach closer to my personal goals. I’m glad I found Hardcore and I thank them for showing me a new and exciting way to challenge myself. In short THEY ROCK!

I’m upgrading my review from one star to two stars, because I went to Wayne’s Hardcore Zen class. This guy knows what he’s doing! I think that with some additional training, his instructors could be better. As I was leaving his class though, one was at the front desk saying, «I could never teach that class — it’s so slow! I want to go HARD.» That’s not the point. Pilates can be an amazing workout if you give the muscles time to work and experience the negative rep, as opposed to bouncing through each exercise and risking injury. I will still probably not go back, but I’m glad I had at least one positive experience there to balance out the negative.

I started classes from a groupon deal. Since this was my first reformers class experience, I was very impressed with the style of training and exercise; however, I had no previous experience as a basis for comparison. The reason I continued to purchase additional classes and even private lessons was because of the owner and another trainer seemed to be very attentive trainers. My mistake was ignoring all the other negatives and red flags that I witnessed. There was a couple of group classes where one trainer (Fawn), would snack on a bag of potato chips all during class. I really tried to avoid classes with her but unfortunately, they had her scheduled to teach in the evenings, which is the only time I could go. I can completely understand if you need to grab a quick snack in between classes but to eat a bag of potato chips when you’re trying to motivate people to stay healthy and in shape is just unbelievable! She also would text or check her phone all throughout class rather than check for correct form and weights. There was another female trainer who was always on her cell phone and checking herself out in the mirror rather than paying attention to us.
As to my private lessons, I had really high hopes that the one trainer I liked would not let me down. However, there came endless issues with him. He would constantly leave the room to talk to other people, go to the bath room, check his phone and there were a couple of times where he would disappear for 15 – 20 minutes, which is a huge chunk of individual time lost that I paid for in an hour’s session. The very last straw was when I received a call from the receptionist that he was «on leave» and they had no idea when he would be back so they had to cancel my class. He then returns suddenly – proceeds to send out mass group texts to all his clients asking them to text him their rescheduling, which of course lends to me receiving all kinds of texts at odd hours of the day/​night from random people as they all think it’s ok to respond back to the group text rather than texting him separately.
Finally, in the end Hardcore insisted I had a $ 70 late cancellation fee on my account because I failed to call and was a no show. First, I had no idea I was even scheduled for a class since my so called trainer was «on leave;» I also never received their standard email reminder notification for this appointment which they never gave me proof. Furthermore, the appointment would have also exceeded the amount of classes I originally purchased. The trainer had initially scheduled me for a Thursday night class, which he set as recurring and did not count the correct number of classes. On top of all this, the receptionist or whoever she was corresponded with me via email to collect the late fee in the most uneducated, disrespectful manner.
To conclude, my individual experience may not be an accurate general depiction of this business, but if you have trainers who are flaky and eat chips during a class – do you really want to throw your money into such a place to help you get fit?

I love going to Pilates, Spinlates, and Spin classes at HardCore Pilates! All of the instructors are awesome! Each instructor individualizes your workouts for your needs and abilities. I started taking classes here to prep for my wedding. They took two inches off each side of my waist in my dress– it was amazing! Post wedding, I am still addicted to taking classes here and look forward to working out! Mentally and physically refreshing and an all around great workout!

I’ve been coming to hardcore Pilates for spin classes. It’s always a great workout and an awesome way to start off my Saturday.
You reserve the class ahead of time, so there’s never more than 12 people in a class.
The instructor has a new mix every week and changes it up so you don’t get bored with the same workout.

This is a review for group pilates classes only (not individual pilates or spin classes).
The owner Wayne Davis is an EXCELLENT instructor He’s chill, yet professional. He individualizes the workout for everyone in the up-​to-​a-​dozen person group class. If you listen to Wayne carefully and do all the repetitions, you’ll get stronger, leaner and have a more defined core. Also, he doesn’t check anyone out ;-); I really like that about him.
The class format is as follows: quick leg warmup on your own (you can start as soon as you get in the room, without waiting), followed by a 40 – 45 minute class led fully by the instructor. It ends with your own stretching as a cool down. Altogether it’s a little less than an hour.
Hardcore pilates is focused on the core and upper body (arms, back, chest). As with all pilates, it’s very low impact and excellent for those with injuries or a bad back.
Pilates alone isn’t enough for most of us, however; cardio should be additional, eg. jogging, swimming, spinning etc.
Another main instructor, Fawn, is totally mediocre. She doesn’t individualize exercises, which makes the group format FAR less effective. Some exercises are too easy and others too hard. She and most other instructors BESIDES WAYNE are the reason I took off one star.
SIDE NOTE: As a pilates purist, I think individual classes are an absolute necessity — at least til one reaches an intermediate/​advanced stage. I had a fantastic pilates (private) instructor in NYC for a full year before joining Hardcore’s group classes.
The music is good and thankfully not too loud. It’s mostly «hip-​pop», eg. Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, etc.
There are early morning classes (starting 5:30am), which is a godsend to those of us who have to work or send kids to school.
The normal, not promotion cost is $ 25 per group class, or a bit less if you buy packages. Privates are $ 65. There are periodic Groupon specials, but if you can’t afford the regular prices I’d suggest you try some other form of exercise. Why? Because pilates is for the long term. The benefits accrue slowly but exponentially.
My final point is this: my body never looked better than with Hardcore Pilates. I’ve done it all: HIIT, spinning, swimming, Bikram yoga, Zumba, jogging etc. This worked best for me, but keep in mind — I came EVERY DAY. It ended up being too expensive to sustain.

At first, I thought the name of this place was just a marketing gimmick. Kind of like «oh we’ll work you out hard, but not really, because it’s still pilates.» Boy, was I wrong.
This place is 150% more intense than any pilates place I have been to before, and I’ve tried at least 6 other places so far. I had sweat dripping off my face while doing planks and whatever else the other moves were. And not just once. In my last six visits, I’m pretty sure this has happened all but one time.
I usually go in the mornings before work from 5:30 — 6:30, so the only instructors I’ve had the pleasure of working with are Fawn and Wayne and they really will push you hard and you will realize you’re capable of so much more than you thought.
In fact, and I hope this actually amuses people because it certainly made me laugh, one time we did pike and planks at the beginning of class and then 45 minutes into it, the instructor asked us to do them again. I was super tired and sweaty by round two so I asked if there were any modifications. The instructor just looked at me and with a super straight face said «I only do modifications for elderly people and pregnant people, and you’re neither one.» Tough love at its best. (Then the instructor showed me a modification, but her initial reaction definitely made me want to push through and give her the 15 pike-​and-​planks she had originally asked for.)
If you can handle legit hardcore pilates, this is the place for you. No one will really baby you; they’ll show you how to do the moves, but then they expect 110% out of you. You won’t ever lie on your back, doing minimal leg exercises, staring at the ceiling and relaxing (which I have done at other pilates places).
