Haum Salon By Joey Cox & Co

My Aunt found her, my cousin started going to her too and after several times of my just looking at their hair and saying «Wow, your hair is really looking great!» And they would just say «Mary!» I went today. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my color and cut. I had a great hair dresser prior but Mary gave me a far richer color, a more contemporary cut that’s just as long but feels much lighter, and was consultative about ideas for my next cut which is something I really appreciate… B/​c I’m not a hair expert! Mary is! Get in and see her! :)

I went browsing on Unilocal to find a good hair salon near Oak Forest with good reviews and reasonable prices. I was happy to find Haum Salon where I easily booked an appointment online, selected my services, and read a description of my stylist, Carmen. I have been looking for someone who can add dimension to my color and who will take time on the cut. I am so incredibly happy with my cut and color. She took her time to check the evenness of my length, trimmed up dead ends around my face, and was meticulous with the color and styling. I appreciate the care she took, and I intend to make this my full time salon. Thank you so much, Carmen! I love my beautiful highlights and low-​lights!

I am sad to write this review, because I really liked Joey, the laid-​back vibe of this salon, the location, and the prices… but my haircut just was not good, even after I went back for a touch-​up. He took a lot of length off, which I would have been ok with if it added style, but instead it just looked like amputated hair: awkward length, and quite blunt. There was no shape, and it was flipping out weirdly at the ends. When I went back he added some layering that made the haircut less unattractive, but I was still far from happy and my hair still has no style to speak of, plus one side is slightly longer than the other. I mean, you know it’s bad when most people don’t comment on a much-​shorter haircut, and the ones who do comment simply say, «you got a haircut…» I have tried to live with this by putting it up a lot and curling it more often, but I’m now looking for a different stylist in hopes of putting some life back into my hair.

Joey Cox is an incredibly talented hair designer! His salon makes you feel like you are at home, hence the name Haum Salon! I love my hair! It reflects my crazy personality and fits my lifestyle to a T. My color is perfect and I wouldn’t go to anyone else! I have followed Joey around and now we have both found out Haum! Thanks for always thinking ahead as I feel like you have given my haircut some thought prior to my arrival. Joey, I love how you always say «I’ve been thinking about you hair» and whatever it is that comes after that, I’m all for it! Thanks for always making me feel so special! You can’t get rid of me even if you tried!

A great salon. The owner is fantastic as an owner and a stylist. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. In fact, we are moving out of town but I plan on coming back monthly for my haircut! All the people there are great!

This salon is amazing. You can make an appointment on line ²⁴⁄₇. When seen your receipt is emailed to you. Everyone is friendly and professional. They listen to what you are saying and what your needs are. My stylist is the best! He cares about his clients. My adult daughter and grand daughter go there too! Love this place and the people!

Joey is a color genius! I have been working with him about four years now and he better never leave me. Arthur does my cuts and Keratin treatments. I occasionally get blow outs from Carmen. The entire team is amazing!

Arturo did a fantastic job with my overdue cut. He did exactly as I asked, gave some suggestions, and made me feel welcomed. Glad I finally found a place in the Oak Forest area that I love!

Sharon Luckie has been doing my hair for 10 years. She is awesome. I have natural curly hair and I get highlights. Her work is always consistent. I love the fact that she takes care of my hair. I always feel beautiful and get a ton of comments. I highly recommend Sharon!

I came in March to get my long wavy hair cut by Carmen. Long pretty layers got cut to almost non existent straight across with very little layering. It was a very natural look, and made me look like I was back in college. Wasn’t the look for me, unfortunately. To top it off, my thick wavy hair made my hair poof out at the ends because there was very little layering. I wanted to wait some time to see if my hair would grow into it. It didnt… so I have since had my hair re-​cut.

This is an Oak Forest gem. Joey and the crew are amazing in every way. I think each one has touched my hair and I have never been less than amazed at the transformation. I look forward to going there every time!

Facials/​skin care done by Sandee Trevino at Haum are the absolute best! She uses all natural products and pays close attention to what the true needs of your skin are. Not only has Sandee treated my face but also multiple areas on my body that have been affected by severe hyperpigmentation with great results! Whatever you’re looking to fix — she can take care of!

Let me tell you, I’ve been on a 2+ year hunt for my next stylist. I’ve changed salons, read Unilocal reviews like crazy, all to no avail. Then I was in a pinch, pulled out trusty Unilocal, (after moving to a new hood) and found my HAUM! It really was just happenstance that I ended up booking an appointment with Joey. I seriously love that you can book online (I don’t know why I hate calling, I just do).
Anyway, I’ve received more compliments on my hair than I have since my last steady stylist broke up with Houston for The Big Apple. Joey always does a great job, and I trust him when I sit down in his chair. He’s easy going and will listen to what you have to say. It’s a busy salon but everyone seems to get along well. I enjoy my time there and always leave looking fabulous.
I’d recommend Joey and the salon to anyone even though that means they’ll just continue to get busier! Also the price is so reasonable (I work in the non profit world so this is important to me).
Also they now have facials and such, which I haven’t tried, but they are tempting!

Sandee Trevino is wonderful in her skin care services! She very knowledgeable with a pleasant personality. I’ve been to her twice and have seen amazing results. her prices are also very reasonable.

Located in the back of the Salon is a wonderful facial room. Relaxing non-​surgical facelift to acne treatments.

I have been looking for years to find a reasonable place to get my hair cut and partial highlights in Houston. I have very long and basic hair, but was looking for long layers and light color to take off heaviness and add a sun-​touched look. Not only was I pleased at the quickness and efficiency of the salon, Carmen was so easy going and down to earth. The price was very reasonable and they are looking to expand their salon which is great. I will definitely recommend and make this my regular spot!

so i was very skeptical about going from looooong to short, so i had to have confidence in this person as soon as i met them. So when I met Kathryn, i liked her off the muscle and she understood exactly what i wanted. She is very advanced and cuts amazing, i refer her to anyone who wants a new retro modern style. I love this place now and will continue to come here to her. Book your appt ASAP because they get full fast!

I Recently moved to Oak Forest and I started looking for my new barber. I found Haum and made an appointment to see Joey. Joey can cut a mean men’s cut and it’s probably the most reasonably priced men’s cut in the GOOF.
I’m glad Haum is so close by, and Joey is a pretty rad dude. I think I’ve found my barber for years to come!
