High Times

Every time I shop here it’s always a good experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they don’t come across as judgy like some smoke shop employees sometimes do. The prices are fair, and everyone who works here is always eager to help you and answer questions.

What do you do when you are driving around and construction is blocking your lane and your only other option is to cut through the shopping complex and you see in big neon letters High times? You stop to check it out of course! Yes you ignore the perverts cat calls as you enter you knew what you were getting yourself into! This place has a huge selection… of everything. I wasn’t really looking to purchase anything but I was so amazed at their selection. They had whips, chains, strap ons, clamps, Dildos (all colors), pipes, cheap hooker lingerie, body stockings, fishnet stockings, crotchless panties, dirty christmas cards, dirty wrapping paper, etc. What really won me over was the big penis piñata! I love pinatas!!! I The staff pretty much leaves you alone which is a great thing as you are free to roam around each section and comment with your own creative innuendos without feeling judged. After strolling around for about 30 minutes I walked out with some items and a lot wiser as I realized there are a lot of things I had no idea about!

Love This Place I haven’t Been Here In Years Because I Live On The Northside But When I Move Back On The South I Plan On Frequenting This Place !

The staff has no knowledge of their products, and the service is pretty terrible. Plan to stand around and wait awhile before you get service. Not any part of this store is particularly strong. Their waterpipe collection is pretty terrible.

I think this is a family establishment, and I have frequent this place from time to time. Do be advised that if you plan to stop by, make sure to know your stuff. If you come in without a specific task in mind you will leave disappointed. This place carries many novelty items from t-​shirts, lingerie, pipes to piercing jewelry. When driving here, there is a steep incline/​decline when entering/​exiting the parking lot. So if your car is drop it will scratch, just keep that in mind. *updated. There is a new guy there that is very cool and knows the product of the store very well and will go out of the way to help. 3star to 4star for customer service.

High times is a novelty shop located off of Gessner and Bellaire. You can’t miss it, the sign above their shop is huge and in green letters (ironic, right?)
I wouldn’t say I’m a frequent buyer, but I won’t deny I’d buy a few things in here. It looks pretty small from the outside, but it’s actually quite larger than you’d think. They’ve got plenty of different sections; lingerie, porn, toys, accessories, kinky clothes, flavored condoms, all sorts of little knick knacks everywhere. And during Halloween they’ve got costummeess! :)
The register is closed in by a gigantic glass counter that’s full of merchandise. I’m assuming this is where the ‘High Times’ name comes in. There’s a wide variety of bongs, all kinds of smoke needs, hookah flavors, and much more.
I should warn you though. everything is a bit overpriced. A pair of cute booty shorts for 30 $?! It was depressing. Everything seemed a bit out of range after that. But I did enjoy a peek here and there.
For the more curious person that doesn’t normally dab into this kind of lifestyle, High Times is a good stop.

I think its funny that both Liz and Jai posted reviews that were below a 4 star minimum for this place. I also think its funny that the store is constantly referred to «that sort of thing» what «sort of thing» is that? Anyway this store is great. Tshirts, water pipes, adult, lingerie, everything! This store is significantly larger than any other smoke/​novelty shop that I’ve been to. Its also well laid out. They always have customers because of the WIDE variety of offerings. Even if your not into the smoke/​adult «sort of thing» then they have cool tshirts/​jewelry to look at!

The San Antonio version of Planet K but on a much larger scale. Toys, novelties, clothes, pride items and what have you. Don’t think there’s much else I can add to what Liz and C.T. have already mentioned although they do have their own magazine of the same name as well.

I write this not because I am a frequent shopper (nor because I have ever gone here of my own volition), but because Houston is known for this sort of thing and, as this sort of thing goes, having this store here is a medium-​big deal. I’m not sure if it’s true, but I was told that this is one of the only official High Times stores in all of existence, and I can’t imagine that this particular subculture would be prone to factual errors… um…I mean… what?
So, this store is just what you’d expect: playboy bunny body jewelry, assorted glassware, novelty t-​shirts and stickers, «dancewear», herbal cigarettes, flasks, lighters that look like all kinds of things, and random plastic crap that may seem like a good purchase while you’re there. An acquaintance got kicked out once for making a guess as to what some of the glass objects were for, so remember, I guess, to keep your conversations on the up and up.
I guess it’s worth a visit if you’re into this kind of thing. If you’re not, then just view this store as another reason to be proud you’re a Houstonian!
