Allan knows is stuff and he knows when someone else is a better fit. Upon having transmission issues I wanted to take it to a local shop because I believe you get a little more TLC and proper diagnoses. I found out most people contract transmission service out; Unlike others, he told me about this little secret and referred me to a specialist (cutting out the middle man saved me ~$ 200. Then he helped me determine if I had an axle issue and gave me some things to look out for. I have now paid Allan $ 0, but he has given me some great advice and has won a customer.

Really impressed with this place. Allan was super nice, very knowledgable, and very thorough. I checked out places on Unilocal and he had one of the highest review ratings. It’s for a good reason. Did a great job on my Tacoma. I don’t trust many mechanics but I trust him with mine.

This guy is great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The dome lights in my wife’s Sienna would not turn off. He suggested checking the dash panel to see if a switch had been flipped or activated. Sure enough, a rocker switch on the dash panel had accidentally been activated. Problem solved. Thank you!

Allan is the best. Two days before, NTB told me that I needed all 4 struts replaced along with transmission flush. I took it to Allan and inspected car and told me that the rear struts were still good for a while but front did need replaced. He checked transmission fluid and said that it was fairly new and red and did not need a flush. Also mentioned that rear differential might need replacement. He called me about 30 min later after doing his own research and advised me that it’s probably front bearings that needed replaced and not differential. If you got a Toyota, Nissan or Honda, come to Import Automotive.

I’ve been a few times so far, and was very satisfied after each visit. Alan takes the time to walk you through the problem and how things work in easy to understand detail. If you need a part replaced he will show you the part he removed and even explain how it works or where the issue was. I feel that this is a mechanic that I can trust and I plan to go here with any future car troubles I have.

Allan was fantastic. He was able to trouble shoot some preventive problems ($ 37 dollar fix) that would have saved me lots of work later. Furthermore, he corrected several things that the prior mechanic missed or did not complete properly. I would highly recommend him for his integrity and wonderful communication and updates on your car’s progress. He also was gracious enough to stay beyond business hours for me to pick up my car. I’m a transplant to Houston from San Francisco. And one of the things I love about Houston is the people. In all my travels across this great land of ours, you’ll be hard pressed to find people as nice and helpful as the people of Houston.
My case in point, Alan of Import Automotive.
As far as cars go my knowledge is limited to knowing where to insert the key and press the lock button and until the car horn honks.
Truth be told, I hadn’t owned a car in 8 years and I basically hadn’t taken care of my car at all beyond oil changes. So when my Honda Fit started occasionally flashing the «Check Engine» light, running roughly and stalling I knew I was going to be in for some major problems.
Getting service can be intimidating, as my paranoia figures the service at the dealers will try to find more wrong with the car then there really is. So I checked with Houston Unilocal and Alan’s reviews were glowing.
Unilocal reviewers did not steer me wrong. Not only did Alan get my car back on the road but he did so at a reasonable price.
He was great at explaining what my car need in the way of immediate repairs. His shop is clean and orderly. Very clean. When he found out I didn’t have anyone to get me while he serviced my car, he got me in and out quickly.
My car will need brakes soon and he’s already quoted me half the price that I paid a national company to fix them.
I go by my guts when I meet people and my intuition is that Alan is a great guy and worthy of our business. All I know is I’m back on the road thanks to Alan and I’m happy with the services he gave me.

I recently took my 03′ Toyota Tacoma in for a 100,000 mile tune up here, and have to say that it was one of the best experiences with a mechanic shop that I’ve ever had. Alan provides excellent service for a fair price. He has earned my loyalty and I will be taking my vehicles here for all of my future service needs.

He’s awesome. Not only is his shop close to my house but he is honest. The service was great and answered all my questions.
I would definitely refer my fellow honda owners to him as well as my toyota friends.

Great experience.
Dealer wanted to charge me $ 2600, Alan fixed it for under $ 800. Alan fixed only what was broke, no upcharge or overcharging for unnecessary repairs like the dealer wanted to do.
OEM parts and in and out in 6 hours. Just a great overall experience. Nobody like coming out of pocket big $$ for repairs, but that doesn’t mean you need to take it in the behind by dishonest dealer repair shops.
Will be back again.

I have been taking my cars and their troubles to Alan at Import Automotive since back in the day when they serviced Volks Wagons. I love these guys! The work is always honest and quick. Living in a city like Houston, which can really tear apart a car, having Import Automotive really brings peace of mind!

Allen is a straight shooter and I highly recommend this shop. I took my car to the dealer and they wanted over 1500 for the repair. Allen realized that all I needed was a minor part and a fluid flush. He saved me over a thousand dollars. If Allen will fix your type of car — take it here.

Simply the Best! Alan owns his own shop, servicing mostly Honda’s. He has been upfront, honest, and a pleasure to do business with. We bring both our Honda’s here, and Alan goes out of his way to tell you what he sees, what you need now, and what to look for. We ‘ll be leaving town soon, so we’ll miss his professional service. One quick example: went to McDavid Honda, needed $ 1200 in repairs for rotor work. Alan charged us $ 800. Also saved us from unnecessary work that McDavid «advised «us to get ASAP. Thank you Alan for your outstanding service!

This is probably only the 2^nd time that I have ever bothered to write a review on Unilocal and the other time involved food poisoning.
Last fall, I was new in Texas and was consistently having problems with my starter. I had taken my ’99 Corolla to a couple other mechanics. I know nothing about cars but the quotes I received sounded extreme. Finally, I found Alan on Unilocal and he was incredible. not only has he never charged me for a diagnostic check, but he replaced my starter within two business days and the total parts&labor were ¹⁄₃ of what other mechanics at estimated.
Just this morning, he ran another free diagnostic when my check engine light came on unexpectedly. If you want an honest, personable, competant mechanic, you don’t have to look any farther than Import Automotive.

Allan is simply the best there is. I pass dozens of dealers & shops on the way to his place. It’s not the most convenient for me to get to, but when dealing with a mechanic I want to have confidence that I can trust the work & the pricing. I have total confidence in Allan because his pricing is very reasonable, he is very responsive, explains the work on my level, completes the work quickly… he’s just a great guy. I’m going to buy a new car soon and I won’t buy a car that Allan can’t work on.

Prolly one of the most honest mechanics I have ever met. My gal and I dropped our 05 Toyota Camry to get the 2^nd opinion about the steering shaft (which was previously highly recommended to change by MIke Calvert Toyota dealer bcuz it would kill me if I don’t change it).
Alan said it’s not necessary, and took his time explaining all the details thoroughly. I am an amature bike mechanic myself and I know he was not lying.

Extremely satisfied! A friend referred me to Allan Miller after my car overheated two days in a row. I am not from Houston so I knew of no one I could trust and was so worried I would get overcharged and/​or receive low quality mechanic work.
Anyway, since Allan opened at 7:00, I brought my car to him at 7:00 and after explaining what my problem with my car was I was in and out in five minutes. He told me he would call me as soon as he found the problem. Allan called me at 11:00, told me the problem and the cost and promised to have it ready by 5:00. Sure enough it was fixed and ready to ride at 5:00 and the cost was super cheap! I highly recommend Allan.

I wanted to cry I was so relieved to find an honest mechanic. I have always been one to do it myself so that I could know the quality of work and feel like I’m paying rock bottom prices for parts, otherwise I take it to my dad. I have had the check engine light on in my 2000 Toyota Corolla for about 4 years and now that I’ve move to Houston, that actually matters when you need an inspection. I know the major problems with my car and I wanted to see how they would be handled here.
Alan was just a gem. He told me when he would be able to look at my car and then called me shortly after. He took the time to explain what what going on, what he did and what I should ultimately do (buy a new car!) He explained that he fixed one source of the problem registered on the code but that the other code was the result of a shot catalytic converter. Get ready for this: He said he wasn’t going to bother trying to replace that, because the main problem is that my engine leaks oil so that changing out the converter would be useless.
He drew diagrams, gave me solid advise on purchasing a different car, and demanded that if I did get purchase a used car to bring it to him so that he could check it over free of charge!!! I only just met the man a couple hours previously and gave him $ 65 of business!
Highly recommended. Spotless shop, clean neat and in a quite area. You can walk (30 minutes) to Antidote Café and wait there all day even though I was only there for a couple minutes, but I’ll post that review elsewhere!

This is about as good as mechanics get. I actually bought my last car based on the fact that I wanted to make sure that I could take it Import if there were any issues (Honda/​Toyota/​Mazda). Alan takes the time to explain the issues, how they fix it, experiences he’s had with certain components (good and bad), etc. Clean shop (always a good sign) and very professional. Always have been on-​time with repairs and ordering of parts. Always busy, but they never seem to over-​schedule their work — which can be a problem for mechanics with good reputations. Super friendly and never condescending. Fair pricing for parts and labor (they use genuine OEM parts). Highly recommended!

This is the most honest mechanic that I have ever been to. As a single woman, it’s nice to know that you are not being taken advantage of because you don’t know (or care) how an engine works. I just think it should work and Alan over at Import Auto knows how to make any imported vehicle purr like a kitten. He even saves you the parts and explains what he’s done when you come pick up the car. He prefers Hondas, Toyotas and Mazdas but if you have a VW like me, you have to do a little bit of sweetalking. Still, he’s honest and he’s in the Heights.
I was refered to him by FOUR different people over 5 years ago and he’s seen me through three different cars.
I can’t say enough nice things about this place.
