This is a great unpretentious hole in the wall. There is a sign outside that says Brewery, which has been left over from when this place was a brewpub. I guess they never got around to taking the sign down. A bit dirty and grimy, and people still smoke here, though that does not really bother me. It might for some people however. A dim L shaped bar, with a stage, tables scattered about, and some dart boards. The service is very friendly. The couple that owns the place always greet people with a smile. They pretty much run everything, so just be patient when the place is busy. When there is no music playing, the clientele is mostly an older regular crowd though still friendly. When there is a band there is a very mixed group. Music is country, rock, and folk. They will have tribute nights for Willie Nelson and Steve Goodman on their respected birthdays. Nice. An excellent spot to chill and have a beer. They have been around since the early 80’s and are an institution for good beer on this side of town. Always some Saint Arnold, Real Ale, and Fullers. Actually, they always have one of the freshest kegs of London ESB in town. I wish places like Bull and Bear had this kind of quality. No food, but they will have fish fries every once in a while. Which are always awesome. I am not on this side of town a lot, but I always make a stop when I can. A great place.

A very casual place. The beer selection is very impressive and they have a large beer garden out back. Sadly, there’s an unpleasant neighboring«business» and not a good neighborhood overall.

Hops House is located near a Shipley’s Donuts place across Hwy 6 from the Barnes and Noble, so you have to pay attention to where it is. The pub has a great selection of beer, and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They also have a patio in the back, as well as the famous«popcorn buffet» machine! They have a lot of live music goin on during the weekends, and they have more info regarding that on their website. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend the Hops House!
