Ate lunch here today. Service was friendly and very fast. Most importantly they didn’t skimp on the chili and cheese like they have in the past. Presentation was great. They need to keep it like this because for the pennies it cost to add enough chili and cheese it would be worth me returning again. Prices kept them from 5 stars. Not that this is a 5 star dining experience but for the taste, value, and comfort food from childhood.

I haven’t been at JCI in a long. The hotdog is getting smaller and smaller. It is smaller than the hotdog bun. Also not enough fries. My god I’m still hungry even though I paid $ 9.72. Will not try Coney Island for lunch.

Terrible cold cheese stingy chili tough bun for a $ 5 coney that can’t compete with a sonic. I’m pissed. Next to my hotel and did not enjoy!

So… I haven’t have JCI in a very long time… They gave me about 5 fries for 3 bucks… The bun on the chili cheese coney was so rubbery, I wasn’t able to cut it with a fork… I had to gnaw through it with my teeth… The manager in charge seemed unconcerned at the lack of fries that I just paid for. Didn’t know that I would have to pay a buck per fry… Oh well… No more JCI for me…

They’ve gotten my order wrong twice in a row one of which times the server asked me to park in a designated spot so they could bring the order to me. I waited so long that I got out of my car to go in to get my order. The sever saw me and handed me my order. I’ve given these young boys too many chances to redeem themselves. I won’t be back.

I got the patty melt today and onion rings. The beef was tasty and moist even though it was thin. The bread on my patty melt was a little on the greasy side. Well maybe too much butter? The bread was crispy though. The onion rings tasted fresh. They were coated with a light batter. I would have give maybe 4 stars if the dine in area didn’t smell like mop water while me and my family ate. Overall the employees were nice and actually came around twice to check on us.

I don’t eat beef or pork so I was kind of reluctant to go there at first but I wanted to check it out because it’s so close to work. I started making James Coney Island a regular weekly lunch stop after I tried their turkey burgers – best fast food turkey burger I’ve ever had! And it is absolutely worth $ 3.99. I have also tried their turkey chili but I was not too impressed. It would be great if they also had turkey dogs! But try a turkey burger! I might go get one right now. ..

Love James Coney Island… been to this location many times, but the people are always challenging to talk to on the intercom. I don’t know if it’s their system or the people. Tried to say my order and they continuously interrupt me on every point… what a pain… and to make it worse I was being rained on. Got four coneys, tots and a drink… order was accurate.

I used to be a big fan of JCI since a kid. My taste buds have matured tremendously but when you see animated hot dogs waving $.90 coney days, I flip u-ies with a quickness!!! Especially when it’s 4pm and I haven’t eaten all day. This location had a friendly drive-thru staff and the hot dogs were fresh and hot and full of extra onions just like I requested! My only beef #pun with JCI’s these days(it was the same on the Hwy 6 location) is the hot dogs barely come with any chili. I don’t necessarily like my chili dogs soaking in chili goodness but I think their’s are bit on the dry side. The deliciousness could rise significantly if they filled the chili ladle just a bit more.

To be totally honest, in a city like Houston I would not choose to eat at James Coney Island of all places, but it met my needs on this particular day: while on an Aunts-Day-Out, I took my nieces here since the only thing they will eat these days is hot dogs. I find any food with a face on it charming, so I was smiling as I walked in the door greeted by the graphic of a grinning hot dog(holding a hot dog… that he was about to consume?). The décor is bright and fun, and the pics led to discussions about the real Coney Island, and You Tube videos of Kobayashi which my nieces found both disgusting and fascinating(which mirrored my opinion of the relish, see below). Fun fact: Joey Chestnut is actually the master champion of the hot dog eating contest, and while it does take place on Coney Island, is actually sponsored by Nathan’s. I digress… They had tater tots. Score! My corn dog was… a corn dog. Had I not eaten an awesome foot-long one at the Rockets game 48 hours prior it would perhaps get a better review. The Frito pie was A-Ok(I just get way more of a kick out of this ‘dish’ when served in an actual Frito bag instead of a cardboard bowl) My sister’s hot dog had a «relish» on it that was the neon color of lime jello. I found it frightening but she said it tasted fine. If you have kids who want hot dogs, go here.

Some inkling of snobbiness in me feels a tinge of shame — but I am overcoming it to let it be known that this James Coney deserves its praise. It has been… what, 10 years? since I last ate a hotdog, but as I started passing this location twice a day during my new commute, I kept getting cravings. So after three weeks of suppressing it, I bit the bullet and went in for a takeout. Ordered myself what I think was called a New York style hotdog to go — a juicy beef frank topped with spicy mustard and sauerkrat — by God, it was the single best thing I tasted all week, and I am perpetually on a see-food(–and-eat-it) diet. The flavor! The texture! The fattiness cut with the sauercrat’s tanginess and balanced with the spicyness of the mustard! A dance in my mouth! … Yeah, it never made it out of my car. Scrumptious.

These Dogs are literally as good as it gets. I am a huge fan of Chili Cheese Dogs, they are #3 on my list of all time favorites. Right behind BBQ& Mexican. James Coney Island makes an awesome dog, the chili they use is the BOMB. I wish I had their recipe, if I did my kids would beg for Chili Cheese Dogs all the time The price was a little high as far as dogs go, but well worth it

Visited this location for lunch the other day with a couple of coworkers. I had tried other James Coney locations before, but this was my first at this one. We arrived around 11:30 am and it was not very crowded. I think the monsoons of rain we have been getting may have had something to do with the crowd. I went to the counter and placed my order. I decided to try their version of the Juicy Lucy instead of a hot dog. I did get chili cheese fries so I was able to get down on some of the chili. It took a long time for them to prepare my burger. Everyone else in my group ordered dogs and they were halfway through before my order even was ready. Once I finally received my food, it was tasty. It was not the biggest burger that I have ever had. I would say maybe ¼ lb and that is probably pre-cook weight. It did have a nice river of cheese inside the burger which I liked. It was not too much to where it leaked out and got all over you, but just right. The chili cheese fries were pretty tasty as well. Drinks are self serve and you get free refills which is nice. I would return again and next time I will be ordering the hot dogs. It took too much of my time waiting for the food and then everyone else was waiting for me to finish. Stick with the dogs here and chili cheese fries and you will be fine.
