Haven’t been to this restaurant for a long time that came back to Houston on business in this is one of the restaurants in this area that I remember the food was still the same very good I had a dozen oysters and the seafood platter it was just like I remember when I used to live in Houston the oysters were really really good cold and chilled just like I like it. it makes me happy to see restaurants are still putting out good product I’m not making any shortcuts if you’re in the Houston area near Beltway 8 in Imperial Valley please stop by Jimmy G’s and enjoy the atmosphere and the food and if you want to set up the or stir bar get there early is still like I remember I wish there was one of these in San Antonio or Midland Texas cuz I would definitely be there everyday keep up the good work staff and cooks and chefs

First visit and won’t be my last! Had the crawfish Étouffée… excellent. Huge portion of calamari for appetizer– two of us barely finished it. Unilocal coupon made it free. I like free. Thanks Unilocal

Absolutely a crap restaurant for business professionals. Came in with 8 of us and they require one person to pay so they gets an easy 18% tip split. Cannot spit your check up because of a tip is utter lunacy.

Weekly traveler. Staying at Hyatt Place next door. Jimmy G is conveniently located. Service was good and food was average: not bad, not great. I would return if staying at the Hyatt Place again.

I give two starts simply because of the service. I stayed at the hotel next door so that made this the only food option i had that was walking distance. I ordered the Gumbo, which i was 0% satisfied by. The waitress was great and that’s why my experience wasn’t one star quality. The calamari was by no means great but at least i was able to walk away full from that. Maybe its me but i wasn’t at all impressed by this place.

Amazing crayfish and grilled oysters. Sit at the bar and watch them go from the live bin to your plate. Go!

One star is only because something came out on my plate! I have never been so disgusted at a restaurant. I watched an employee pick up crawfish that fell on the floor and toss them in the tilt skillet to cook, then my waiter was making a sandwich for employees and kept licking his fingers as he made the sandwich!!! The place was dirty and smelled. The employees were talking with friends more at the bar then customers and nobody was speaking English, which I have no problem with! I was a burden, place was dirty, didn’t even try the food and left! Stay away from this place unless you want to get sick!!! Seriously, somebody is going to get the shits from this place! Disgusted!!!

From the outside, this place looks questionable a bit dive like because of their outdated sign but the parking lot is always full. Our work had a little get together mainly for drinks. I am a Titos and was looking forward to having my usual double… until bummer the waitress told me they didn’t order it. What! This vodka is Texas made we are in Texas folks let’s keep it in stock. Ok enough rant about the Titos! We ordered a few appetizers: fried calamari was ok, marinara sauce could have used a little more flavor. Fried mushrooms was ok as well, not a big fan but my coworkers thought it was good. Campechana was good served with tortilla chips. Our waitress suggested a Cajun grill shrimp dish that was Delish which I was surprised it wasn’t on the menu. Overall I don’t think this is the best seafood place but it’s not bad. I would definitely try their lunch menu soon during work week. My suggestion is ask your server if there’s anything that’s not on the menu. Décor was a bit outdated, staff was friendly, full bar, easy parking. I also thought it was a bit pricey.

A one star review. The worst rating I can give. Had they spit in my face I could not give a lower rating and yet, they did not spit in my face but I can’t give it two stars. I was reading Unilocal reviews outside and wondering if I should go in. Outside, the smell of sewer was in the air. Inside, the place was dirty. The smell inside was not much better. I sat at the bar and watched someone cook oysters on a filthy grill. The bar itself was dirty. 3 minutes went by. I looked around to see if adult beverages were available. Old, filthy bottles lined shelves around this kitchen bar I say it. 6 minutes went by. No one acknowledged I was there. 8 minutes went by. I left.

Wow not sure where to start. When I entered the smell was so bad– stale and fishy and just bad. I should have turned around and left. The physical interior is worn and tired. The bathrooms were not clean. Everything is either fried to death, battered, greasy or too spicy. I suppose it is a Cajun place but I didn’t like the food at all. I had the Mahi Mahi, it was overlooked, tough and dry. The one thing I did like was the American Salad. It was crisp, fresh and tasty. My friends picked the place because it was the only thing around. I would have rather had a Big Mac,(and I hate Mc Donald’s)

So… Let’s see how I can sum this up… Don’t go… Lol… But seriously I tried this place with a hopeful spirit, hoping to encounter some decent Cajun treats based on a coworkers experience. NEGATIVE … Aside from the obvious appearance of being stuck in a time warp and needing a major upgrade I was still willing to overlook this in trade for the comida … However, even the food is no Bueno. I got the seafood platter which came out room temp, stuffed shrimp and crab have same taste, great seasoning on catfish but because it isn’t filet I really couldn’t enjoy it(bones) The one thing I can thank them for, is the nostalgic feeling I had when I tried the charbroiled oysters… Reminded me of when I was 6 yrs old and the only time I dared entering Galveston waters in which I accidentally choked on some water! Enjoy!

As usual the food is off the chain. My wife has been screaming for these oysters since our last visit 3 months. We’ve been trying them at other places and nothing compares to Jimmy G’s. This is also a picture of the calamari you get free at check in.

This place is very authentic and great fresh taste. Shrimp creole is great, oysters on the half shell are delicious, the catfish fillets are plentiful, and the sampler is more than what you ask for. Serving sizes are huge, price is reasonable. I would highly recommend this place.

At first I thought the restaurant had a funky smell but then I realized that the smell was disinfectant(mild bleach?). Then I didn’t mind it cause I figured they are keeping the restaurant clean. After I was there for a few minutes, I didn’t notice it anymore. A friend got my our party to try the grilled oysters. Wow! I have never had anything like this. They actually grill them on the gas grill. Really good. Garlicky and Italianish in flavor. None of the weird oyster flavor. I was with four people and I got to taste a little bit of everyone’s seafood dish. The friend shrimp was crisp and moist, not greasy. I had the red fish special with étouffée sauce on top. OMG. Really good. Everything we had was good. Apparently, this is like a Houston institution and this location has been here FOREVER. i am glad that I went.

Just left from this place. Disgusting food and absolutely horrible experience! First off, I was seated under an air vent that was leaking water on my hair. We had a big party and a few people ordered the seafood gumbo. After seeing everyone’s disgusted face when taking the first bite, I tried it myself and agreed. It had no seasoning, I can make a better gumbo without paying $ 27! I ordered the crawfish étouffée myself and it came cold. I sent it back and they over heated it in the microwave. I didn’t complain because we were there to celebrate Father’s Day with family. Finally we got the check and they can’t separate it. So the waiter stood there while we had to calculate everything ourselves. Don’t go here! Unless your just getting oysters bc the oyster bar was full. Oh FYI the waiter said a lot of people send the gumbo back.

Don’t judge a book by its cover! This place is an oilfield trash hangout(I should know). However, be careful to judge a book by its cover. If you want the absolute best grilled oysters in Houston, this is the place to go… period. Every time I come back I wonder why I don’t come more often. I suggest if you’re in and around IAH, make a short trip over to Jimmy G’s.

Frick’in amazing! Food was out of this world! Waitstaff was understaffed with only one waitress but the rest of the team pitched in and we were well taken care of! The crawfish were top 5 that I’ve ever had and I grew up eating Louisiana crawfish! The catfish was beautifully seasoned! Char-grilled oysters were so good we got a second a second batch after the 6 lbs of crawfish and catfish platter! Yes and it was just the two of us! So awesome! I can guarantee when we have a layover in Houston this will be our go to place! Thank y’all for an amazing dining experience!

Raw oysters were tasty and fresh; I thought I’d try the grilled oysters — they were decent, a bit too salty for me. Garlic and cheese with butter grilled, not sure if they seasoned them too much but too salty. Service was okay not great.
