New location! It used to be by the frame shop. This location next to dollar store is much cleaner and bigger! I haven’t been in here for years. This is the biggest fabric store I know in the area. It’s bigger selection than Hobby Lobby. I got a coupon online for 20%. I needed to find fabrics to make something from my nephew. So I learned that I needed to pick a number and when your number is called they will cut your fabrics in your desired measurement. Checkout guy was so nice and friendly.

I came here with my mom looking for some special colored thread and was very disappointed in this Joann location. It was very dim lit inside and it seemed very shady. Other Joannes I’ve been too have been very organized and bright with lots of employees to help you. This was definitely not the case here. We found what we were looking for ourselves and had not seen a single employee in sight to check out. So we decided to walk around and see what else was on sale. As we found some fabric my mom wanted we had to wait in a long line to wait for the same lady who was running the register and the cutting area. Very frustrating. On top of that, she was not very friendly and reminding ppl that it was closing time so ppl would hurry. I would not return back to this Joann location.

I’m not sure why this place has bad reviews. I have no complaints here. The staff was really helpful with my fabric and my checkout was easy.

I’m not a fan of Jo-Ann’s. But when they’re the only gig in town for certain items, sometimes one has no choice but to go through their lineup. There’s a Place: Jo-Ann’s has moved from their previous location in this shopping center to the other side of the center. They’re now right next to Fiesta on the northwest side of the complex in a renovated building that used to be PetSmart. All Together Now: Fabrics were arranged in an odd, nonsensical fashion. Aisles were very narrow and bolts were crammed together pretty tightly. Often attempting to remove one bolt from the rack resulted in several other bolts coming down with it because they were so snuggly wedged together. Ticket to Ride: Once you’re chosen your fabrics and are ready to have them cut, take a number. And wait. And wait. And wait. Carry That Weight: While you’re waiting to have your fabric cut, there’s no place to place down your fabric. Multiple people holding multiple heavy bolts of fabric: our daily weightlifting exercise routine? It’s All Too Much: Most of their fabric is now emblazoned along one edge with a trademark symbol and copyright information from Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. This graphic takes up approximately 1 ½ inches of the fabric, which makes a 44″ piece of fabric not really that true width. Since I’m using this fabric to make baby blankets, that entire width of trademark must be cut off because no one uses that wide a seam in a crib-sized blanket. Enough already, Jo-Ann’s! The Word: I think I’ve finally hit my breaking point with this establishment. I didn’t even find everything I needed here, so it looks like Hobby Lobby and Amazon are going to be my fabric stores from now on. Exit stage left.

I’m still undecided about how I feel about Jo-Ann’s. This particular one is huge but does it have a lot of stuff? Depends on what you’re looking for. Every holiday season for the past 3 years, I’ve tried to think of alternative ways to say Merry Christmas. Actually… I try to think of an alternative to: 1) avoid holiday crowds; 2) avoid holiday traffic; 3) avoid the last resort gift card; and 4) save money. For the past 2 years, I baked. For the past 2 years during the holiday season, my energy bill was higher than it is during the summer. So baking doesn’t necessarily save you money. This year I decided to knit. I knitted scarves, hats, and purses. Is knitting difficult? Yes(depending how complicated your piece is). Is knitting time consuming? Yes. Did knitting save me money. YES. A ball of yarn averages $ 3-$ 5. You only need one ball of yarn and knitting needles to knit a ‘4 scarf. Can you buy just any type of yarn. No. I usually buy my yarn at Michael’s. I think the employees there know me very well now. I got tired of the same colors and same types of yarn at Michael’s and wanted to see what Jo-Ann’s had. Did I buy anything? Nope. They have the SAME stuff at Michael’s. Same price too. But I like Michael’s a lot better. Michael’s have more in variety when it comes to crafts. I did look around and it seemed like Michael’s had better quality items for crafts too. What’s different about Jo-Ann’s, different about THIS Jo-Ann’s is that they have tons and tons of fabric. I don’t sew so Jo-Ann’s is not for me. I might sew next year… so… to be continued.
