This is crazy that I’m finally writing a review on this library. I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. I remember back in the 90s when I didn’t have a computer at home and would always come here to use the computer to do my homework. Now, things have definitely changed. They’ve upgraded since then and there’s even a self checkout! Even though this library is small, it’s pretty intimate and cozy. Not overly crowded either. There’s a cute children’s section just as I remembered it! I sort of forgot that it’s right next door to the Harris County Court and at times, it can get busy. It might not be in the best location, but there can always be adjustments. Staff is friendly as always! Free WiFi, and computers for you to use with your library card. There’s a time limit to use the computer, but that’s okay because you can always renew the time. If I ever need a quiet place to do work, I can always stop by the library. I had forgotten how close it is and how peaceful it can be.

I am reviewing the baby story time. Honestly there was a little bit too much singing and if you didn’t know any of the song’s which I didn’t know almost all of them you feel like you are just standing there or sitting with your baby. I enjoyed the other story times at other libraries better, I might give it one more try before I cross it off completely.

Got my library card from this branch, as it’s the closest one to my house. Pretty small library(I grew up used to the monstrous George Memorial library in Richmond), but they have a decent selection of audiobooks. They had the one book I was looking for(but wasn’t expecting to find). The self-checkout is cool… don’t know how long that’s been standard in libraries, but it HAD been a while since I’d step foot in a library! I wish the location was better though… the area isn’t the greatest, but also not the worst. It’s also on the outskirts of Hwy 6, so while it’s in my zip code, it still takes 15 – 20 minutes to get there. The hours are a little strange, especially for Fridays. I can’t go to this branch some days if I’m going after work, as I don’t get into that area until after 6. Overall, nice library. Tidy place, friendly staff.

This is a great library! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Sometimes there are unsupervised little kids running around with skateboards being loud, you know how it goes. Aside from that, it is a very tranquil place. Many resources available including free WIFI!

Katherine Tyra Branch of the Harris County Public Library is the little library that could! Not only does this small library offer free internet access and book checkout to its local community, it offers ways to bond and make new friends. In the 6 years I’ve visited this library they’ve gone out of their way to set up events that make reading a priority in the daily lives of those around but also a lot of fun. Any time you go into Katherine Tyra library, there is a calendar of events including book clubs, movie nights and reading incentives. Each summer the walls are filled with the latest participants in their reading project. Plus, when there’s nothing to be found on the shelves for me or they don’t have the book we’re looking for checked in, we can put our names on the wait list online and they’ll email us when our book is in stock. Then all you have to do is pluck your reserved book from the special order area and be on your way. For a small library, Katherine Tyra has a lot to offer and they do their job well.
