I usually get the cabbage rolls. I have tried other entrees and they are good, it’s just the cabbage rolls are my favorite. They make me think of grandma. Choose your dessert freely. I don’t think you can go wrong no matter your choice. The cherry on top is the service. Our server the last 2 times has been Patrick. He is informative, attentive, and cheerful. We love Katz’s and look forward to returning!

The food is good but the main reason we drive in from Galveston to go to Katz’s is for the cheesecake shakes! There are literally chunks of cheesecake in the shake! Pure deliciousness! The shakes are large enough for 2 – 3 people, and they will split into individual glasses if you let them know you are sharing. That way you don’t have to share your whipped cream topping with anyone else!

What a bad service, I have been here for 45 minutes and I have get my food yet, I’m tired, hungry and pissed. The people next to us already got their food, and they arrived afterwards.

I was really excited about going to Katzs. Since I’ve been in Houston I’ve been looking for a great place for a Pastrami sandwich, and everyone said I need to get to Katzs. Unfortunately, the experience was less than favorable. Apparently my waitress is overworked and can’t bother to provide service let alone EXCELLENT customer service. However, the managers response is what caused me to write this review. I don’t know if it’s the outsourcing that’s causing the laziness or if it’s just the caliber of the hiring pool. He stared at me like«how dare you complain» and when speaking to me I felt like I was in trouble. Take pride in your job, no matter what it is. In an effort to be part of the solution I will take 2 days off my job and train your staff for free.

Took the family for an outing for some sandwiches. Got there and after finding a parking spot we witnessed a car accident. Family went to be seated so I could call the police. They refused to seat them until everyone was present. My family expressed that we witnessed an accident and that I was outside calling the police concerning the accident. With a toddler, there was not a reason that they could not get them settled until I was off of the phone. No the less, we left most disappointed and will never return. We all felt disrespected.

Amazing!!! Don’t listen to any other reviews, this spot is super clutch. I order the Reuben with an extra side of Russian(I like mine saucy). The corned beef to sauerkraut ration was great and my rye bread was perfectly toasted. A friend ordered the stuffed cabbage, OMG, wasn’t sure I would like that, but the flavor was out of this world. Also had a side of matzo ball soup, very tasty and flavorful broth, matzo was tender and soaked up the broth perfectly. So glad we came in!!!

Underwhelming, expensive food, and inconsistent service. As far as 24⁄7 places go, it’s worth the late-night trip if you are starving, drunk, or just off of a graveyard shift, and the place is kept very clean. Other than that, though, I’d recommend a drive all the way to the Galleria for legit kosher food in better portions for such high prices.

Katz’s is located close to Downtown and it stays open 24 hours. Great for night shift workers! This place stays pretty clean and staff is pretty friendly. They are known for their good food but the one thing I always order from here without fail is their broccoli cheddar soup. It is so creamy, velvety, and delicious! The best broccoli cheddar soup ever! I will also order a slice of key lime pie for a coworker and I. The slice is pretty small so it gives us both a guilt free slice of pie once shared. The key lime pie is tart and sweet and refreshing. I did order a cup of their chili once, It was pretty gross with threads of gelled protein in the meat and it was covered in way too much cheese for such a small bowl. One bite left me green around the gills. The texture was disgusting. It’s probably serves better as a hot dog topping for a drunk frat boy. We loved everything else and will continue to patronize!!!

Service is bare minimum. Bad attitudes from much of the staff. Food is edible but average at best. Nothing memorable about this place at all. With most Jewish style delis around the country being pretty darn good, this one falls way short. It’s nothing on Kenny & Ziggy’s in Houston. But it is open late night which is nice on the occasion you’re craving food in the wee hours. The only time I recommend going.

SCRRRRR came here last night 5÷22÷2016 and waiter decided to tip himself before giving me my change because he heard my friend say she wasn’t going to tip.(We paid separately) Mind you I tipped him $ 3 on a $ 8 meal !!! But I realized after my change wasn’t adding up. Not coming here again just for that, that’s grimy.

Katz Deli is the spot for late night fresh bite. I love their atmosphere and the quality of their food. I’m so happy about their extra parking space. Now it’s very convenient to park and not worrying about getting towed. Therefore, their food is always hot and fresh. I had #12 the skinny size and it was more than enough. Make sure you try their fries pickles they’re awesome as well.

So I am a homegrown born and raised New Yorker, original my from Brooklyn with easy access to the original Katz’ deli. I know it’s impossible to compare to the original because there isn’t a comparison. The«New Yorker-sized» Hot Pastrami was okay. Not quite the size I remember where I had to take half the sandwich home. The bagel with lox was good. Service was quick and friendly given our large party size. If you’re a homesick New Yorker like me, and miss Katz’, this might hold you over, but do not come here with expectations of the original Katz’

This place has some pretty good food but it does have its downs The waiters are usually very attentive but the food doesn’t always come out in a rush Last time my husband and I went we waited nearly an hour for just 1 Philly cheese stake, fries and one milk shake (I am glad I wasn’t hungry enough to order food for myself because that hour could have been dragged on even longer) Not only did it take forever to get my husband’s food but it also arrived differently then how he had ordered it… everything was flawed. wrong fries.wrong ingredients in his sanwhich… and everytime the waiter apologized and tried to get it fix it never came back right and that also took long a time between taking the food back or bringing out the right stuff… at the end my husband just decided to forget about it and ate his food as it was It was a very awkward night… no idea who’s fault it was that everything kept being wrong, the waiter or the cooks, but I haven’t gone back since… my husband has returned with his friends because he is a far more patient man and he continues to love the Philly steaks this place serves(since I’m not really a meat person I could care less)

Katz’s is delicious and satisfying, overall a great staple deli(though unfortunately not at all related to the famous When Harry Met Sally NYC location). My mistake coming here was probably in that I ordered a pretty unexciting sandwich, and because of that I was surprised with how pricey my meal was. The venue itself is really cool, very bar-meets-deli, and most of the servers are very friendly. I came with three friends on a Saturday night and we were seated right away. It took us awhile to order — mostly my fault, because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to eat — and it felt like it took awhile for the food to come out as well, but that may have been because of how hungry we were. I heavily contemplated getting a reuben(seems like their specialty) but ended up ordering the salami skinny grilled sandwich. When the sandwich finally came out, it was definitely good but it was TINY and literally consisted of white bread, salami, and cream cheese, that’s it. They gave me a small pickle on the side but no chips or anything substantial to off-set the small sandwich. And though the sandwich was good, I definitely could have made it at home and it likely would have tasted the same. Honestly I would be fine with this… if it hadn’t cost $ 9 plus $ 3 for my soda. With tip, that put me at around $ 15 for a meal I could have easily and quickly made at home. The NY style ruebens on the menu look huge and delicious so I may return for one of those, but even still I’m not sure I can justify $ 17 on a sandwich alone. Quality is ok, quantity is very low, and price is high — not the kind of place I’ll likely be returning to.

Katz, you won’t be seeing me again. I’ve had quite a few mediocre experiences while dining here, but the fried pickles and gigantic sandwiches kept me coming back. Today’s took the cake. That’s not a compliment btw. So the boyfriend and I were in the mood for some dessert. It’s Saturday about 9:45 pm, and we were staying in– so we opted for take out. We called in a spinach and artichoke dip and a slice of carrot cake and another slice of cheese cake. We show up about 15 minutes later– and yes, its Saturday night, it’s busy, we get it. No biggie– IF someone had at least acknowledged us within the first 5 minutes of standing there. I made eye contact with about 5 waiters AND the manager and no one seemed to give a $%&^. To add insult to injury, my artichoke dip was sitting on the counter already, and the slices of cake take all but 30 seconds to pull out of the fridge and put in a to-go box. After the chick behind the counter saw we were standing there, looked, turned around and proceeded to make THREE milkshakes, taking her sweet time,(5 more minutes had gone by,) she says hello without even looking up and rings up our order. Finally getting moving right?! Wrong. She rings us up and just walks away. So we wait, another 5 freaking minutes… Watch her make more milkshakes, serve up 3 more slices of cake… And still waiting… The manager, btw, has walked by maybe 4 times by now nonchalantly until she stops him and asks him to grab the cakes… He reluctantly does… The manager I’m referring to is the Hispanic guy whose name starts with an «I.»(eye-roll) By this time my boyfriend and I are pretty pissed, and my boyfriend says to him, «Hey, I know it’s pretty busy, but we placed this order over the phone, and we have just been standing here for almost 20 minutes.» The guy doesn’t even LOOK at us and spits out the most INSINCERE«I apologize,» I think I have ever heard in my entire life. THEN, he tries to ring us up, and I announce we’ve already paid. I ask him if he is the manager, and he says, «Yes, I am,» and continues bagging my sh*^. I’m sitting here at home now, eating my COLD spinach artichoke dip– typing this review. Ridiculous. Never coming back. P.S: This is not the first time I have gotten crappy service here. I don’t hand out 1 star reviews unless they’ve earned them. So long, losers!

What happened to the iconic Houston place? Horrible food except for chopped chicken liver. Salmon overlooked and sent back. Loch and bagel short of loch. Famous fried pickles just bad. Classic martini all gin, no olives. Potato knysh should be a pie, not formerly frozen square shaped potato patty! And where is sour cream? All replaced by cheap ranch dressing. They served sour cream with my totally bland stuffed cabbage in the plastic container the size of a thimble! Never again. Kenny and Ziggys forever! Update: much better today compared to the last visit. Wait: very short Service: very good, however the food took a bit long to arrive Grilled salmon salad: very good, generous portion Lox and bagel: good, could use more lox Onion gratin soup: barely warm, bland and so-so. Next time will skip Cheese blinzes: excellent Coffee: good Overall: good-very good Thanks, Barry!

Amazing restaurant !! I’m giving it 5 stars because we got excellent service and the food was so good! Ask for JT he was awesome he really went above and beyond to guide us with the menu and made us feel right at home! We tried several different items on the menu and everything we had was so delicious! We had a phillycheese steak with fries, pastrami sandwich with onion rings, Reuben sandwich with broccoli cheese soup, fried pickles and the complementary Cole slaw and pickles. For dessert we had the cheesecake sandwich recommended by the owner Barry Katz himself. We got to meet him such a nice man, and told us new locations are opening soon! We are excited! And cannot wait for new locations! The place is nice and trendy makes you feel like a corner restaurant in NY Times Square but with great service! I had a great experience and will return soon!

So thankful that they’re open 24⁄7. Came here late on a Friday night around 2am. There was a little wait of about 20 minutes to get a table(they had the upstairs dining area closed). The décor inside the restaurant is really cool with New York signs and pictures. There’s a small parking lot behind the building specifically for Katz’s which is really important to me when choosing a restaurant in this area. Be careful when parking on the streets(especially in front of homes) because I was towed in this area before along with 2 of my friends. I ordered an open sandwich with meatloaf & gravy and it wasn’t that great. It didn’t taste like real beef. Next time, I would order a regular deli sandwich. It can get a bit pricey for just a sandwich. Overall, I’d go back.

Really great late night spot! Plenty parking and they serve breakfast dishes 24hrs! Décor gives off a sort of New York-y vibe and gives it a more sophisticated look than the common late-night diner. I would recommend the Oreo milkshake because obviously you can’t go wrong with that.

When it’s 4 in the morning, you’re craving breakfast but you’re IHOP’ed and Denny’ed out. Where do you go? Well Kat’s dinner of course! They earned cool points from me for being open 24⁄7 and being a straight shot down Westheimer which is the street I live on so it’s super convenient. However, I would consider everything about this place from the food, to the service, to the establishment itself all mediocre. But it is a deli after all so I wasn’t expecting much. They were running this promo where they had jalapeño pancakes on the menu. Eww! Two items that should never mix if you ask me! I skipped right over that option and ordered the French toast which was tasty… But beware if you order the bacon! It’s BEEF bacon… Since when do cows have bacon? My friend wasn’t feeling the taste of that and sent it back. Not too sure about any other items on the menu but I will be back for the breakfast!

This is my favourite place for late-night dining, as they are one of the few places where both service and food quality are consistently good throughout the entire day, including late at night. I’ve never had to wait for a table, even when we came as a group of 10, and service is provided with a smile from all staff members. The menu is quite large, so choosing a dish can be quite daunting. Food usually comes out quickly, and portion sizes are a little more than what I call a reasonable size, but can sometimes look overwhelming since sides usually come in separate smaller plates. I’ve never tried anything from the breakfast menu, but I have enjoyed everything I’ve ordered from them thus far.

Katz’s is a really chill late night dining option near the Rice area. In the times that I’ve been here, I’ve never once walked out disappointed. In my latest trip to Katz’s, I had the bagel bundle, which is a combination of egg, turkeyham, and Swiss cheese within a delicious bagel. I thought the bagel was pretty buttery, but it went well with the meat, and the cheese really brought the dish together. My favorite thing to get at Katz’s though, are the milk shakes. The Oreo milkshake was very smooth and creamy, yet it wasn’t super sweet so you could just keep on downing it. Service is great as well. Our server never let our drinks empty for long, and he was friendly and outgoing. The only downsides I see about Katz’s are that parking is really a pain on a crowded night, and that the food is pretty pricey for the portions you get. Nonetheless, I’d still recommend. Ambiance 3.5÷5 Food 4⁄5 Service 4⁄5

We were promptly greeted and got a table in no time. The surrounding tables were full of drunk people(on a Tuesday night?!?) which made for an evening full of fun people watching. It took forever to even realize who our waiter was and even longer for him to take our drink orders. I was stuck between the classic diner choices breakfast or dinner? I decided to go with the #6 grilled cheese instead of strawberry pancakes. My mistake. My grilled cheese was just your basic grilled cheese with 3 types of cheese inside. It wasn’t hot when I received nor did any cheese ooze out of the sides. It was clear they made and let it sit under a warmer until the other food was ready. My friend got the Matza ball soup and said it was perfect! The highlight of my night was the free pickles and coleslaw they bring you!
