The kimchi fried was ok, the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste & there was not enough kimchi to it. In addition, the«kitchen» was open in the front & that makes my clothes smell like food after a couple minutes stopping in to pick up a take out order. I won’t consider to go here for lunch as the result.

I liked everything about this place, except for the long drive I would have to make if I wasn’t in the area. After shopping at IKEA My friend and I wanted to try a place we haven’t eaten at before, so we end up here. I was interested in this place because it had so many great reviews, despite it not being in Chinatown. I took a chance. I’m glad I did. This place is located in a strip center off Barker Cypress. The old guy behind the counter was super friendly and recommended some things to try. I ended up getting the galbi and my friend got the seafood soup. We also got the fried wontons. The menu list isn’t too extensive, but I find that to be a good thing. Our food came with kimchi and a salad. I really enjoyed my salad. It’s small but flavorful. I’ve had good and bad kimchi and I found theirs to be exceptional. My friend who hates kimchi really liked it. Her seafood soup(Number 15 I believe?) was boiling in it’s pot as it made its way to our table. It was delicious with just the right amount of spice. My galbi was good too, and fresh. A little chewy and sweeter than I thought it was going to be, but the flavor was all there. Our fried wontons were crispy and chewy and the inside was very filling. I also got a Ramune to drink. I’m so glad they got the Sangaria brand, that’s the only one I actually like. I saw a review where someone complained that they had to get their own stuff. I wasn’t bothered by that fact. I didn’t mind getting my silverware, condiments and napkins myself. I only got everything I needed and didn’t need to wait on a server. I guess to each their own. Besides, the place isn’t that huge to begin with. If there was one critique I would say, is that they could give you more rice for your meal. I would definitely come here several times to try more things. I think the Katy area has a good thing going on here.

Not bad for the location it’s in. The restaurant is a hidden from the highway but the food doesn’t disappoint. Like some of the other reviews say, it isn’t the same as the other Korean places on Long Point Rd. or on Bellaire but still pretty decent for the price !

There’s not that many options in Katy for Korean, so I was hoping this place would do it for me. It failed… The food was OK, but I’ve definitely had better in China Town off Bellaire i. e– Seoul House restaurant. Even more disappointing than the food was the service. How can you have 2 customers in the entire restaurant and not be attentive to their needs aka Customer Service? I had to get up and get my own water, then get back up to get silverware, then back up again for condiments. Being this is a set down restaurant, it’s not the norm to have to self serve yourself. With that being said I will not be coming back and I do not recommend you come here if you’re reading this review. There’s a Mongolian stir fry restaurant right up the road which will hit the spot vs seating at a table writing a negative Unilocal review like I’m currently doing now.

Went there at noon today and it was closed. No sign on the door saying they will be closed. Called the store, no answer. Forwarded to a cell phone.

I read few reviews and i guess their salad could be hit or miss. I LOVED their salad!!! and I asked for refills(more please!!) twice and they brought back some more right away both times(without any attitude… so nice) I think it is the only korean restaurant in Katy area so far(I think…). Yes their food does not come with multiple side dishes like other traditional korean restaurants, but I think that is actually a plus to me cause I’d rather pay less and not get some side dishes. Other korean restaurants charge way more like $ 12 to $ 20 for one meal and i think it is because they all have come with many many side dishes. Some side dises i like, and some i don’t. so sometimes i feel like I am paying more for food that I’m not even going to touch. Food here is very good and it all comes with some kimchi and salad and some miso soup(if we ask.). I had bulgogi, spicy pork, spicy chicken, short ribs(OMG Soooo Gooood), bibimbap, japchae, kimchi stew, tofu stew. Alll so damn good and all only cost $ 8-$ 10 except the ribs but it is worth to pay more for that ribs!(Long point restaurants charge like $ 20 for ribs I think…) My only request to them is that I wish they add more to their menu. They have pancakes for $ 5.99 which is damn cheap but no seafood pancakes… Adding more items to their menu will seriously make me stop driving out to Longpoint! Lol

Wanting to see what all the hype is about and to get my K-fix, I stopped by Kimchi’s for lunch one day with pretty high expectations. With the lack of Korean cuisine in the Katy area, I was very much hoping that I’ve finally found a good spot. Overall, it was OK, but not long point level, and definitely not Cali korean level. I ended up ordering the #7(Kim Chi pork rice plate) and fried dumplings. It came with a salad(OK-ish), Kim Chi(solid), and Miso Soup(stopped after 1 sip). The dumplings were actually really good. The sauce went perfectly with the crunchy dumpling, and the filling was satisfying. The rice plate, however, fell short. The spice hit the spot but I didn’t care much for the marinade the meat had. I also thought that the rice was fairly bland even with all the spice they apparently infused into it. Overall, I probably won’t be back, but I can see why people would go here because of the lack of korean inventory in Katy.

This is a nice, cozy Korean place tucked inside a suburban strip mall. The Korean food is decent, and the service is kind. I went with friends and split five dishes: kimchi jjiggae, stone pot bibimbap, a veggie pancake, bulgogi beef, and yaki Mando. The kimchi jjiggae was great, very tomato-y and flavorful. I would say it was mild on the spice, but my friend found it very spicy, so it really depends on your spice tolerance. The bulgogi beef was also very tasty but a bit too fatty for my liking. The bibimbap, pancake, and yaki Mando were my faves. You also get sides of salad and kimchi. The kimchi is too salty for my taste and not sour enough. Overall though, I enjoyed the food. The ambience is clean and friendly, and I was impressed by the service. They were very flexible and let our group of for split the check evenly, and they came often to check up on us. I would recommend this café as a casual and yummy Korean place in Katy!

Wow! What a fantastic place to eat. I came here at night hoping to get some dinner since I had a light lunch and was left starving all day. This place exceeded on my expectations on both occasions I’ve had the pleasure to eat here. There are several reasons to eat here. 1. Family owned and very friendly staff — The staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful, you could tell the staff and the family took immense care and pride in their restaurant. It definitely showed in the atmosphere and the food created here. The staff was always there to help when I needed anything. 2. Right off the highway — Its on Barker Cypress near I-10 and across from Texas Children’s Hospital. Not too hard to get to and definitely a place to eat on the way home if you’re looking to kill some time while traffic dies down. 3. Varied selection — They have several stews, rice dishes, noodle dishes, appetiziers, and even tacos(more on that later!). 4. THEFOOD — The key reason for coming to any restaurant and this place doesn’t let down one bit. I highly recommend the Kimchi Fried Rice and the tacos. If you’re looking for something spicy and filling, I suggest the Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork. I’ve had the Bulgogi here and it was also excellent. This place is an amazing place to get korean cuisine and definitely a warm sight to see since its hard to find amazing korean food outside of Long Point. My meal came with a small side of kimchi and a small salad along with the entrée itself. The entrée’s portions do not disappoint and you will definitely be walking away feeling full and completely satisfied. Its been a long while since I had a meal«hit the spot» like I did at Kimchi’s Korean Café and I say that with pride. The Tacos are really good and definitely should be tried by anyone. Its pork, chicken, or beef marinated and put into a warm fluffy tortilla before being mixed in with their fresh vegetables and dressing. Its definitely very tasty and a great appetizer or meal for one person. If you’re feeling you need to pig out, go for the kimchi fries or their oh so tasty pancake. Their meals generally come in cast iron skillets which is a smart move as it gives the dish more flavor and keeps it piping hot the entire sitting. The Kimchi Fried Rice was spicy, tasty, and crunchy. It was very filling and had a cacophony of flavors. I really enjoyed their Bim Bap and their Bulgogi, but you can’t go wrong with any of their menu selections. With the warm atmosphere and feel you can get here along with their amazing service, anything you pick on the menu is sure to please. Eat here NOW!

This was a nice place to get a late night snack or a quick lunch with a friend. When I came with my wife we had the beef bulgolgi, kimchi fries, and seafood soup. The food itself was a little above average but the service was great. As with all Korean places the staff was very attentive and friendly. I was a little disappointed there weren’t many sides. We only got a small salad and kimchi whereas many Korean places give you more sides. I guess it is more Americanized though and was offset with by the fact that we got free yaki mandu(fried dumplings) for checking in on Unilocal. The price wasn’t bad at about $ 8 – 13 a dish. Overall I would come back every once in a while to grab a bite.

Wow! This is a tiny little spot off Barker Cypress, and as we all know, the tinier and harder to find… the better. Right?! Totally. A really pair of folks(father/daughter??) helped us and went to work on making all of our food as soon as we sat down. It was just after the dinner rush and we had the place to ourselves. There is a check-in offer for 6 free gyoza types things which of course I got. The kimchi fries were amazing and not too spicy but full of amazing flavor. Highly recommend. The bibimbop bowl looked amazing and my buddy said it tasted as good as it looked. I got the fried rice and chicken which was super tasty, but verged a bit too much on the spicy side for me. But all the flavors were excellent and everything was so fresh. The service was great and the place had some super good chill dance music playing which was perfect. Only bottled drinks here, but they have Sparkling Ice! I love those. This place seemed totally legit and I really enjoyed it and had a fantastic dinner here. Check them out.

The food is good. We came 30 mins before they closed. To what I see they put everything in a small container and start cooking when you order. The taste is 6,7/10. Their tofu soup is a little light to me and NOT enough stuffs in their soup at all. I got free dumpling for check in. It is good. Their free side dishes are very limited.

One of my favorite lunch spots in the area. I almost always get the Kimchi Fried Rice. Wow. It’s amazing… And hot! Be warned, I usually am sweating by the end of the dish, but it’s a good sweat. It comes with some soup, and some dishes with salad. The Kimchi fries are pretty good as well. I am pretty sure it’s family owned, and that’s a big thing in my book. The staff are all genuine Koreans, and they’re friendly as can be. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed :).

Before anything, the free offer was misleading because there’s a minimum amount you have to spend in order to claim the free yaki mandoo but don’t let that stop you from trying this place out. My friends and I wanted to try Korean food for the first time and overall, I thought it was great experience. I’ve never had kimchi before so I ordered the kimchi stew which was delicious, a little too sour from the kimchi, but was bearable. But if you can handle the heat, I highly recommend getting their kimchi fried rice with pork. Overall, it was a cute little café. I would come back with my friends or family to grab lunch in the future.

I came here with a friend after reading the positive reviews. In addition, I was attracted by the check in offer, but only after I arrived and checked in did the offer reveal a minimum purchase price. This wasn’t a big deal, but it was false advertising. Walking in, we noticed how empty the restaurant was; there was one other diner. However, this is probably because we came in for lunch on a weekday. I ordered the stir fried cuttlefish, #9. We were served a small salad for appetizer. My cuttlefish was hard and chewy, not tender, but the flavors were decent. Service was standard, but the staff was pleasant. Judging by food alone, I give this restaurant a 2-star rating. They get another for service. My friend ordered the #7, which looked much beret, in my opinion. Compared to ask the Korean restaurants along Long Point, this one definitely lacks the wow factor. For Katy, this is a decent place for Korean food. Besides my curiosity regarding the other dishes on the menu, not much else draws me back.

I have been invited to this restaurant a few times and shied away because of the kimchi. I finally decided to go and the first time it was closed but we went back again today and it was open. You walk up to the counter and the first thing I saw was a note with the free WiFi password and you order from signage posted on the wall above. I ordered the Grilled sweet chicken which came with brown or white rice, kimchi, salad and ice tea for under $ 10 including tax! Their regular cook was not there so it took a while for us to get our meal. The chicken arrived sizzling and it was a lot. I didn’t really eat the salad as it was just some type of lettuce with salad dressing but I ate everything else. The kimchi is mixed with some spices and I enjoyed it for my fist time eating it. I mixed some in with my brown rice and chicken. All in all I will go back and try some different dishes on my next visit.
