Kroger Food Stores Clear Lake

This is the most convenient grocery store for us and we like it. Once you get used to the layout, which is a little different, it’s fine. The fish department stench is more potent than other places but customer service up front is pretty on top of things. Some of the staff are nicer than others but that’s just normal life. Overall. I’d choose this store rather than one farther away just because of convenience.

Always check expiration dates!!!
If using in-​store coupons — those generated by the cash register — check the small print — VERY small print — before you take your item to the front (unless you don’t mind walking to the back of the store again to grab another item because you were 17 cents off to use the coupon).
If you need something from the service desk, be prepared to wait — if you have an issue you want to resolve and have a pile of work waiting for you at the office or home — don’t bother or you will lose your temper like I did. This time was a young man using the calculator oblivious to next person in line. The recipient of my wrath was an innocent woman who could only smile because she didn’t know what had happened — the young man took off in a hurry.
They may be great managers and employees here — I don’t know — only that they need to brush up on their customer service skills. The cart guys/​sackers, and some departments such as organics/​dairy, produce, meat dept, and some cashiers — seem to be caring people and enjoy their jobs.
Wish they had a Wholefoods here.

Great grocery store! Has a good selection of foods and beers at a reasonable price. Its open 24 hours too! There is a Starbucks that is open until 9PM inside as well, the employees always do a great job with my coffee.
At late night its all self checkout, but the machines work very well and I actually prefer it. They have a very good beer selection for a grocery store. The only place better is Specs in my opinion. I usually buy my meats and cheeses here and I never have been disappointed with the quality.

Eh it’s okay. It’s a grocery store. Sales are ok. Meat selection is mediocre. Seafood is not always so fresh. Bad stinch even when frozen. Great wine selection. Nice bakery.

So it’s no secret I’m a Randall’s loyalist (don’t believe me? Check out my Duchess title), but this Kroger is a close second in my fave supermarket’s in the area. I used to visit this Kroger quite often a few years ago but it began looking and feeling frumpy. Well, they have undergone an extensive remodel and it is evident in the overall vibe and look of the store. The produce, bakery, and sushi bar are a delight. Everything looks and smells super fresh. The meat/​seafood department has prime cuts and the butchers are friendly. The aisles are well organized and well stocked. Although the bulk organic selection is limited, you can find the essentials saving you a trip to the Whole Foods or Central Market. I have to admit, it is a smaller store compared to the H-​E-​B and Randalls in Clear Lake but it looks and feels great and the prices are competitive.

I found shopping here a delight because there were PLENTY of lanes open to check out. The store isn’t a larger Kroger, but for its size I think it does very well with stocking and lanes open

I normally do my shopping at HEB due to convenience, but stopped in this Kroger one weekend for my usual grocery shopping. I was impressed! It is a little more relaxed (i.e., less crowded) and upscale than the HEB I go to. The produce section was beautiful. They also had some products that I hadn’t been able to find at my HEB. I love their Manager’s Special deals (aka food that is about to expire, so they sell it for ½ price or less)! Overall, I had a very pleasant experience at Kroger and I will definitely go back from time to time!

If there is ever a special product that you are looking for that doesn’t appear on the shelf at the store the manager will do their best to order it special just for you.
Even though the store isn’t one of their «mega» stores… it’s still upscale and offers more a variety of products than your typical Kroger.
This store also has a wine steward if you need help finding specific brands or ordering special bottles.
