Don’t care about the safety of your children? Then this is the place for you. They don’t bother putting kids in seat belts in their shuttle minivan. Yesterday i happened to be driving behind their shuttle minivan (a Toyota Sienna with their business name/​phone number in the windows) when I noticed through their back window that kids were up and moving around in the van (standing in the aisle between the seats, standing on the seats, etc.). Not only is that against the law, it’s just plain stupid. The van was almost full of 2 and 3 yr old kids. Why would anyone NOT put a child in a seat belt, especially a business whose job it is to care for children?
I followed the van to the day care center and questioned the manager and the driver about the fact that the kids were not buckled. The driver, a very elderly man, seemed confused and gave a pathetic excuse that he was trying to get them into their seats as he drove. I don’t buy it, I was behind that van for a while, and he made no efforts aside from repeatedly shooing them to sit back down (as if sitting will provide any more protection in an accident than standing). Those kids should have been buckled before the van even moved. What made it worse was the manager’s reaction to my concern; she laughed it off as if it was no big deal. She clearly wasn’t shocked, or concerned, that the children were being endangered. She said to me with a dismissive chuckle, «I’ll discuss this with him» which my BS detector translated into, «Pfft, who cares? Mind your own business buddy.»
