The food is really good here. But the wait staff has very poor English, and worse service. But if your at one of the hotels next door, it’s one of the few places to eat you can walk to safely. Just get done before they crank up the crappy music even louder for the night crowd, you will go deaf. I recommend the steak tortas or shrimp cocktail, and the traditional tacos were nice.

One of the best Tortas I have ever had in my life!!! This place is legit!!! Close walk to all the local hotels, my company has a maintenance base here on Hobby airport so I fly into here periodically, the bartenders all recognize me and welcome me and chat me up in broken English, everything I’ve ever had on their menu has been just outstanding!!! There are only two reasons I don’t leave 5 stars or 20 stars! The drinks are overpriced, 8 $ for a shot of well tequila? No thanks and the music is always a bit loud to the point of shouting across the bar to place your order, but I’m happy to overlook that for the food in this place, seriously, get by and try it!!!

Either I have really low standards or the place has improved since the last review. The chips and salsa were fresh and hot. I had two HUGE fish tacos that they were willing to grill instead of fry for me. The corn tortilla seemed to be homemade and the slaw and sauce on top of the fish(tilapia?) were tasty as well. I wish they had«regular» tea but only had sweet tea. Yes, the music is loud and the tvs are set to soccer or Spanish language shows — so what? The food was good and the staff friendly plus it is very reasonably priced. If you are at one of the hotels on the street do not be afraid to give them a try.

Really bad! We were staying at Drury and it was close so we went in. Outside looks really nice but the rest of it is awful! Went in during prime eating hours and there was no one in there. That should of gave us a heads up, but we decided to try it. Their menu is all Spanish couldn’t ready anything. Service was bad! For being the only people in there I figured they would be over to our table a lot but they weren’t. They have a bunch of TVs but all of them were on soccer. I ordered fish tacos and were disgusting! Just bad!

Stayed at Marriott and Google maps said this was a sports bar so walked here to watch my boys in NCAA tourney. Go in and theres 20 TVs… playing Soccer. Asked if they could change it. Nope. Sigh… Tough to be a gringo in Houston. Chicken burrito was freaking great though. Loud music. Hot bartenders. Caliente!

1⁄3 star to be honest. Bartenders dont know english. Music way too loud to hear the bartender, I feel like I got screwed out of my two drinks. My double jack was clear as day a single. Didnt bother ordering another drink when I got left in mid conversation asking the bartender to clarify what she was asking me. I took a risk on the reviews, but please do not bother going here.

Awful. First of all, this place isn’t a bar. They have nothing on tap, only bottles of beer and some premixed drinks. The entire menu is very difficult to read and riddled with typos. When I sat down, the waitress literally wiped off the table with a napkin she got from another table’s napkin dispenser. The chips and salsa were terrible, they messed up my order and the food was bland. All in all, terrible restaurant. Do not eat here!

LA Playita isn’t bad at all, I’ve been in Houston on business for a while staying at the Marriott next door and I’ve eaten here several times. Caldo de camarones and pescado is legit. Res not to good… seafood looks really good… music is a bit loud girls aren’t the pretties but they all seem very nice and friendly. Micheladas are LEGIT… If you come get a sea food… Oh and the queso fundido is great!!!

Fucking horrible, food sucks the frozen margarita was nasty and watery. I asked for lime, it came with cherries and also something red in it… what was lime about that idk. A waste of $ 8. The waiter didn’t understand English and couldn’t hear us clearly because the music was so loud. she messed our order up completely. And kept calling for back up We paid for food we didn’t want or ask for even when the manager told the boss the waitress messed up he refused to take the item off our ticket. Also I had to pay extra for the very same order I asked for in the beginning. Which was ridiculous because she was not understanding and very rude to argue back and forth with us while her«manager» was standing right there. Don’t waste your money on their nasty chili con queso. Horrible taste exactly like the jar of cheese u get from the gas station next to the chips. this was a horrible Experience, the music there was EXTREMELYLOUD omg. I couldn’t hear my friend who was sitting next to me. Which gets me to believe this is why the waitress didn’t get anything on our order correct. They still Made us pay for the food we didn’t want or ask for when she came back to the table we sent the food right back to her. They never removed it from the ticket. Like since we sent a whole plate of food back can we atleast keep it since u STILL charging us for it! These ppl don’t know customer service and the chefs don’t know culinary arts. Definitely not authentic Mexican food. This is horrible we would’ve been better off going to the taco truck next to the corner store and saved a nice $ 20. Don’t waste your time or money! so disappointed they don’t even deserve this 1 star honestly.

I would love to be writing this review based on the food but I can not, I walked out without my order. I am in town on business and decided to give this place a try. The atmosphere is very much that of a bar, very loud Hispanic music was playing. The first waitress who attempted to take my order did not 100% understand English and called for backup. I was able to place my order and was excited to try the crab leg mixed grill, the menu is in Spanish so I can’t remember the item name. I sat there wishing the music was not so loud for what must have been near 30 minutes. I finally started giving the waitresses looks, like I am staving where on earth is my food? One finally did come over and said you have not gotten your order yet? I answered no and off she went to check on it. After another 5 minutes I flagged another waitress down and asked where my order was, she said oh they are making it now. I figured at this point there was a problem and questioned her more. She finally fessed up that the ticket did not print and the kitchen had just started my order 5 minutes ago when the last waitress checked. I had had enough of waiting by that point and left. From what I gathered this is a new location for them, so maybe in time they will work all the kinks out and it will be a great place to eat. For now though not so much.
