Their menu is pretty small in comparison to most of the food trucks I’ve been to, and I’ve been to my fair share. I got the ladybird grilled cheese, which is an assortment of three different cheese and green tomatoes-yum! My only wish is that they had more vegetarian options(that was the only one when I went) and that their prices were just a tad cheaper. Overall, not bad!

First time trying Ladybird today! They regularly station themselves at MFAH, which is great because there is ample parking and also a quiet space to eat outdoors in the sculpture garden behind the food truck zone. I was disappointed to see that there weren’t any tacos listed on the menu today but you can’t complain too much about a food truck rotating its selection, so I decided to try the Yardbird. Ordering is easy enough, service was friendly and it sounds like they have an interesting selection of drinks on-hand(Japanese Sprite? Sure!). I think the best comparison for this sandwich, which is a big breast of fried chicken(it’s a thin, crispy breading), nice pickles, Japanese(Kewpie) mayo, Swiss cheese, and savory jam is a punched-up Chik-fil-a crispy chicken sandwich. It comes on a soft, toasted bun that’s big enough to hold all of the contents and not make a terrible mess(which is nice, as a lot of places are doing the big-toppings, small bun thing that’s kind of impractical for street food). I really wanted to like the sandwich but it fell short for me because the flavor profile was kind of bland. I got sweet and creamy and fried, and that’s with me taking out the 2 slices of Swiss, which felt a little excessive here. The jam didn’t bring enough savory to balance it out. I wanted some more pickles or maybe pickled onion to cut through the richness. Nevertheless I think the sandwich is executed well and it’s a decent portion for $ 7.50. That brings me to my last point: there was nothing on the menu today in that sweet-spot of $ 5 – 6.50. You had a few sides in the $ 3 – 4 range and then hot dogs and burgers were $ 7.50 and up. I think the tacos probably fall into the $ 5 – 6.50 spot and even though I gave 3 stars for the Yardbird I trust the execution and talent enough that I’ll be coming back to try those tacos another time.

We got Ladybird foodtruck when we were at the thursday night MFAH happy hour. It was good food(but seems very different from other things listed here, so perhaps their menu rotates a lot?). We got the chicken sandwich and kimchi hotdog. They were very good, but needlessly greasy. Would have been just as good with half the butter :)

Ladybird and Texas Blizzard hangs out at the Museum of Fine Arts(MFAH) on Thursday nights! When I got in line, the Barrio Dog was the only item they had left on the menu. To my surprise, it was probably the best hot dog I’ve had in Houston! The buns were so good and the trimming was great! The bread reminded me of Maine-ly Sandwiches’ bread. =)

Tasty tacos… Chicken Tikka had large chunks of chicken with green sauce and onions in a tortilla. I would have liked more of the masala sauce, but it might have been messy. The tacos were delicious… just the right amount of food for lunch, and the right price…$ 6. You will have to wait about 5 minutes or so for the food, but it comes hot and fresh. Ladybird was parked near City Hall for the Wednesday downtown Houston«Farmer’s Market». I will have to go back and try a grilled cheese sometime.

This is one of the food trucks that was rotating through the Museum of Fine Arts, food truck area. I love this area the best out of all the food truck gatherings, because it’s free and plenty of parking. I am a sucker for food trucks and end up ordering way too much food, but I just have to try everything! I go an order of the chicken tikka tacos for $ 6. They were good, but if it was covered in a bit more sauce would step it up from good to great! I also ordered the Yardbird sandwich for $ 7. This sandwich was like an upgraded chick fil a sandwich. It came with a sweet sauce that just blew my taste spuds away. But my favorite dish out of all was the truffle tater tots for $ 4. So many places do fries but these guys offer a unique option in the tots!

Caught these guys outside of MFAH. It was a bit later and I came just post lunch rush. They were out of almost everything :(which made me sad because I really wanted to try the crab burger(it was just bad timing.) Anyways, I ended up ordering the Yardbird with a side of Truffle Tots and I was not disappointed! The sandwich was greasy but delicious and the tots were perfect, crispy and very lightly salted and flavorful. Definitely not the heavy truffle oil I’m used to, they use truffle salt instead it it’s perfect! I would definitely recommend them if you see them out and about. I look forward to trying more off their menu.

Easily would be 5 stars if I wanted my yardbird with a side of attitude. Every Friday(almost) my office decides to check out something different, last week it was rattle snake fries at Sammy’s, this week, I(I regretted this later) voted for Ladybird Food Truck. We made the hike from the Galleria to the MFA during lunch, and found the truck easily. We asked the lady manning the counter if there were others out of curiosity, as we had a few of us. She quipped, NO, we are it. Okay, well its a good thing I came to see you, I think… I had the yardbird sandwich, and really expected much more. It was a fried piece of chicken, with little spice, on a normal bun, 2 week pickles and a teeny tiny bit of pork belly jam. Oh and some greasy cheese melted on top. Meh. My co worker is paleo, so she asked if she could have the crab burger with no bun, just lettuce and crab, and the lady looked at her as if she had claws herself. She took a bit of a tude, and said I guess so… My boss also had the yardbird, he tried to joke around with the lady, but she had already decided she had gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. The food came out in a decent amount of time, and as I mentioned everything was a ok. Nothing that I would come back for more for, although I did taste my friend’s crab, and it was fresh. All in all, there are more innovative, friendly trucks in town in my experience.

Try the truffle tots and saag paneer grilled cheese! Their menu changes from week to week, but I haven’t had anything I didn’t like here yet. Lamb gorditas and shrimp salad po-boys have been quite good as well.

Mmm… .Ladybird Food Truck, how I love you! I’ve been here a couple of times now… once to try the awesome grilled cheese sammich you have and also to test out those chicken tikka masala taco’s. om nom nom nom is all that comes to mind. The grilled cheese, with all that melty cheese and ooey gooey awesomeness is only complemented by the spicy mustard that they give you! As for the chicken tikka masala taco’s — those are the tastiest taco’s I’ve ever eaten! Come get your food-gasm on Thursday’s at the Houston Pavilions downtown for lunch! Its a huge orange looking food truck — you can’t miss it – just outside of Forever 21.(main street side). Thursdays lunch just got 10x better :) Okay, I had to add: get the Truffle Tots. This is food orgasm you are missing!!! Nobody should miss this. Really. Trust me.

Caught them outside the Liberty Grill. Grill wasn’t hot yet, so I had a beer and waited. As I sat outside enjoying the evening, the proprietor brought me my order and said«just come by and pay when you’re done». I had the Chicken Tikka Tacos. They were quite good — spicy, but not too much. Made for a really nice quick dinner on Washington Avenue.

Ladybird parks at the Houston Pavilions for lunch on Wednesdays. With a lobster roll on the menu, my friend just had to go. So we took the GreenLink bus(which is free, by the way) to the Pavilions just 10 minutes after they opened and there was already quite a line. Honestly, I’m not sure how much room they have in the truck, but they could use a third person. After about 7 orders, the guy taking the orders would stop and go do other things for a while, then come back and take an order as an order would go out. It took a long time just to order. We both ordered lobster rolls and sat down. I guess it may have not been a very popular item due to its $ 15 price, because they came out rather quickly. They also serve Mexican Coke, a mineral water, and regular Ozarka water. The lobster roll, for those of you who are unacquainted(like I was), is chunks of lobster tossed in a mayonnaise-based sauce and put on a bun(hot dog-like). It also came with two hush puppies and about ¼ of an ear of corn. The food was good, but I didn’t think it was worth $ 15. The other items on the menu were cheaper; I’d probably stick to those in the future.

I just ate at Ladybird Food Truck for the first time and it was AWESOME!!! I got the crab gazpacho. That has to be the best Gazpacho I have ever had. It also had grilled croutons which gave it a very good rustic taste. Their food was a very good quality. I cannot wait to try more of their food.

Delicious grilled cheese sandwich with green tomatoes and ricotta cheese. Awesome potato salad with sesame seeds, sesame oil. Not overwhelming, just delicious! I love that they are the MFAH, too, now!

Went here today as they were giving free admission to the MFAH with purchase. I started with the bbq brisket sliders which was extremely good but a little pricey coming in at $ 8 for only two; it left me wanting more and still very hungry. Next up was the boudin frank and this was perfect and delicious. All for only $ 5 this hit the spot for sure. Afters we all went into MFAH which turned out to be a rather nice deal. Can’t wait to try their other stuff.

A fairly new food truck on the Houston scene has some good quality eats! Checked them out the other day next the Museum of Fine Arts Houston’s Sculpture Garden*. For 5.50 I had two carnitas tacos with pico de gallo. Add on a buck or two more for the mexican coke… sorry for taking the last one, folks! Received my tacos very quickly and walked over to the garden to have a seat and enjoy in the shade. The pork in the tacos was very tender from being sous vide, but also had a nice crunch on the outside from I’m guessing being tossed in a pan to get crisped. The pico de gallo was fresh and seasonal with a bit of radish in there. The pork was in a serrano chile sauce which at first bite had amazing flavor and a good kick. However, subsequent bites it was a bit lacking. I really would have liked a bit more of this because the flavor was wonderful – well-balanced heat with a touch of sweetness and maybe citrus. Looking forward to trying some more of their menu items – especially when I saw some pork belly on there! *Starting just this week, MFAH is having a food truck out for lunch daily.
