Less than ordinary; better food options and quality at Denny’s.

Very pricey for what it is. Coffee’s weak and worse quality than fast food restaurants’. Food(I had the houstonian skillet while husband had an omelette) was sad and bland. It was our first time but we did see quite a few patrons who seemed to be regulars. So maybe it was just a terribly off day? We will not return though.

Please don’t waste an opportunity to check out one of the many spots in this burgeoning foodie city by going here. A step up from Denny’s – but only bc it’s in the Village. Do the right thing – make a better choice.

Ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette. Wasn’t anything special. However, my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the Southern Benedict!

Le Peep is always a solid choice for weekend breakfast/brunch. The food is always good with little variability between locations. The service is great with nothing to complain about. Whether you are looking for eggs Benedict or something sweeter such as their Belgian waffle, you can’t go wrong! Get there early as the wait can get a little long.

To be honest, it’s an okay brunch place. Whenever I am showing people around Rice or seeing family and don’t want to take them somewhere too far away from campus, Le Peep is usually my go-to place. Food — It’s okay brunch food. I really like their pancakes and waffles! Everything else is okay. What I appreciate about this place is that they give a huge portion for the price! Many people talked about this place when I came into Rice as a freshman, and I liked the place, but didn’t think that this would top my brunch places in Houston list. However, it does provide a homey American comfort food feel that I think many people will appreciate. Location — ideal since it is in Rice village and only a 5 min drive/20 min walk from campus! Service — They’re really friendly; everyone from the hostess to our waiters/waitress. Service can be slow at times, especially during peak brunch hours, but it seems to be pretty fast given the volume of people they serve.

Whenever I’m in the mood for a waffle, Le Peep is the only place in Houston that I’ll go. It’s OMG good! It’s fried crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside(what an excellent combination). The batter they use is slightly sweet and the dish comes with melted butter and warm syrup. It’s dusted with powdered sugar, which I always request that the not do. The extra sugar just isn’t necessary. Everything else on the menu is just so-so and won’t leave you spellbound like the waffle. Happy eating!

Went here this past Sunday for a late breakfast. Service was fast and excellent. Waitress was awesome. Food was just ok. We ordered: The Gooey Buns(because they were out of the Cinnamon Buns) — An English muffin with a bunch of butter and cinnamon on top… pass. Should have waited for the cinnamon buns. The Blueberry Pancakes — they were just ok. The Mother Earth with avocado — I love that they used 6 egg whites!(one omelette used 12 egg whites!). I was highly disappointed however by the«veggies» in the omelet. It was just thinly chopped up veggies you find in a bagged salad(carrots, zucchini, ect). An omelette that could have been so good — was ruined by the salad bar«veggies» put in there. The Strawberry Belgian Waffle — Was really good! Grilled Chicken Sandwich was good. The menu has so much potential — but overall left not impressed with the food.

Always enjoy the pancakes, both the buttermilk as well as the wheat. The eggs were cooked just the way I ordered them. The potatoes seasoned perfectly. Coffee Ok.

This is our go to cheap but good brunch place. I normally order the eggs Benedict, but highly recommend the skillets! One of the few places that basically has a skillet for anyone’s tastebuds. The Houstonian and the Day Breaker are my redo all favorites. The service is great. I was there today with my parents and my mom wanted to split a dish with my dad and make some substitutions and the waiter accommodated her with no problems. A+ for service!

Le Peep is a pretty standard breakfast/brunch restaurant, nothing to rave about though. To begin, parking is a pain in Rice Village and the wait times on a weekend can get pretty long. So plan to leave early for your visit! Our group of 5 got a variety of items– Belgian waffle– average, very simply plated with some cut bananas and pecans, nothing frilly about it. Houstonian skillet–(It’s a nice touch that they reference local businesses such as the Houstonian and Omni) this is a great option if you’re looking for a healthier but still filling breakfast. Had potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and eggs! The english muffin on the side tasted like it had been just taken out of the freezer and mildly warmed up before thrown on the plate. Disappointing. Arizona omelette– vegetarian option that was big in size but same issue with the muffin that came on the side. Overall, good option if you’re walking by and it’s not busy to stop in, otherwise not worth the wait on a weekend.

It was an ok restaurant for brunch. No belts & whistles to remark on, it’s in need of a serious make over. Parking is easy to find anywhere in this area. The reason they really fell short for me is the service. It was really quiet, maybe 10 other people in the whole place & we were rushed the whole meal. When I go to a new place, I generally need 5 minutes to take a quick look at the menu to make my choice, I didn’t realize that was unreasonable. She was really pushy & it was annoying. They weren’t near closing time so let’s relax. The food was ok but I feel like it wasn’t any better than Denny’s. I ordered the day breaker off the brunch menu, it was ok, it didn’t blow my mind. I’m feeling mixed about this place, not sure I would give it a second shot.

I would have loved to give La Peep more than 2 stars since it’s been a breakfast staple in Houston for years now, but to be fair and honest to the Unilocal community…2 stars it is. Food — plenty of options to choose from, none stands out, or tastes any better than you would get from a Denny’s or IHOP. I’ve tried a few options throughout the years, and they never turn out exactly as the menu states… Staff — always in the weeds. Service is usually with a smile, but they are either way too slow, or hurry you along. Cleanliness — it’s pretty disgusting here. That’s where I take off most the stars… the restrooms are always so gross that you can’t even stomach your food… did I mention how gross it is? All in all, it’s going down fast… time to go to pasture!

Pretty standard little diner in Rice Village. Standard breakfast fare, decent drip coffee(they actually leave you a whole pot — so that you can refill your own cup), good service, very reasonable prices, and an old school interior. Can accommodate larger groups. Shared parking lot next to it — we got there around 11 and there were plenty of spots. Because it’s not trendy or cool or hip, it doesn’t really fill up — we had no problem grabbing a table around 11 am on a Saturday. Nothing super memorable, but a solid little diner.

This is my favorite brunch place in Houston! The menu has a great variety of breakfast and lunch food and I always find something I want. I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend is a carnivore and we love it equally; there’s great selection for both of us. The service is always fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. Though it gets crowded on weekends, I’ve never had to wait more than twenty or thirty minutes for a table and it’s always worth the wait. The food is simple; it’s not a gourmet food, it’s just exactly what I like in a nice, easy, laid back brunch. There’s a great variety of small plates and larger portions, as well as hearty dishes and lighter, healthier options. I like to get the«Two and Two», which is two pancakes and two eggs cooked to order. I also like the tacos on the healthier options section of the menu, and my boyfriend likes to get the Lumberjack Breakfast. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a classic, enjoyable brunch experience in Houston! I have only tried the Rice Village location because it’s closest to where I usually am in Houston, but I wouldn’t hesitate to try the other locations if given the chance and I’m sure they’re just as good.

I’ve heard lots of great things about this place, and judging by the number of people who were waiting outside trying to get a table on this rainy, dreary Saturday morning, it’s quite the brunch place to be. FOODANDDRINK:(2⁄5) Unfortunately, I really just didn’t get what the hype was about. I ordered a «Mother Earth», which is basically a white egg omelette. Honestly, although it looked great, it was incredibly bland and lifeless. The bowl of grits that came with the meal tasted like nothing, and the omelette(although definitely healthy) had no hint of salt, pepper, or any of the natural flavors from the vegetables. The only thing that made it better was the salsa, which I found to be adequately spicy. AMBIANCEANDSERVICE:(2⁄5) Service was also meh. The waitress seemed more interested in getting us in and out, and didn’t really come check on us during our meal. I was less than impressed. PARKING:(3.5÷5) You can usually find parking in the village, but during the busier hours, you might be circling around for awhile. COMEAGAIN?: Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing at the wrong time, but I just think that there are way better brunch places in the Village that don’t require a 20 minute wait for some mediocre food.

Le Peep is where I go when I’m craving breakfast food at odd hours. It’s a step-up from places like 59 Diner or IHOP and the service is almost always perfect. The only downer is that the inside of this place feels like a retirement home… but whatever, if I want waffles at 3pm, I’ll get my waffles. I’ve had many dishes from Le Peep over the years and most of them have been pretty run of the mill, but these are my all-time favorites: — Strawberry fields Belgian waffle. Perfect combo of savory, sweet, crispy, and whipped creamy. — Zapata frittata: an omelette with chorizo in it… what more is there to say? — Pancakes of any kind: their pancakes here are killer. Soft, fluffy, golden. — Biscuit and gravy. I always sub English muffin for biscuit and gravy because… biscuit and gravy. — Regular sausage links. I dunno why but Le Peeps are the best. — Get the home fries double fried! Crispy = best.(I think they call them«peasant potatoes» now. why do they feel the need to bring peasants into breakfast food names? so random.). The menu can be overwhelming but I like that there’s a little something for everyone. My favorite thing to do is to come here with a fellow dining companion and order a breakfast combo plate(eggs, bacon, potatoes) that comes with a short stack of pancakes but double the eggs and upgrade the pancakes to blueberry or strawberry. It provides just the right amount of food to be happily filled without having leftovers to deal with and a cost-saver because you don’t have to pay for 2 entrees. Otherwise, an entrée plus any OJ/coffee or substitutions can easily put the meal at over $ 10 per person… not worth it IMO.

Located at the heart of Rice Village, it’s a convenient place to come and have breakfast or lunch. They have a variety of choices, and can be vegetarian friendly. I got their garden burger and tortilla chicken soup which were good but nothing special. The hubby got Cajun chicken with sweet potato fries($.99 extra), said the chicken was over cooked and dry. The service is friendly but not as fast as they said. Our waitress told us food takes 7 minutes to come out, so I actually timed them… and it took 13 minutes(doubled her estimate!)

If you don’t mind dining with the old folks, the church folks, or the families with kids than this place is the right place for some simple breakfast, brunch, and lunch! I came here for lunch with my bf an this is our 5th time. He loves their southern Benedict or the lumber jack. I on the other hand love their potato soup!!! Loaded with bacon and cheese/green onions. Today I got the soup and salad combo. The chicken caesar salad was nothing special, but it was light and satisfying. I just love coming here for a simple meal! Also their pecan coffee is really good!!! Free refills. I usually drink like 3 – 4 cups when I do get it. Their waffles are awesome too! Light and crispy! Had it last time, but not today :(
