I came here for lunch today because I really wanted some tacos and this is one of the only places that serves them close to my job. I ordered the Greenhorn(fried shrimp taco) and the Fandango(brisket taco.)The man that took my order was very nice and offered suggestions on what I should order. I received my food surprisingly quick(within less than 2 minutes) which made me wonder how long the meat and shrimp had been sitting out. When I returned to my office, I unwrapped my tacos to find a soggy flour tortilla in one package and dried out beef in the other. One of my tacos also had the wrong ingredients in it, the menu stated that the onions were grilled on the Fandango and that it came with jalapeños on a corn tortilla. My onions were raw, no jalapeños in sight, and the tortilla was flour. The tacos resembled smaller less tasty versions of Torchy’s Tacos. All and all they were just ok. Left me a little hungry and wanting a Republican Taco from Torchy’s.

Update to my prior review. Service has definitely taken a turn for the better. Much better cashier who was pleasant. I was torn between giving this place 2 versus 3 stars due to the food quality. Quantity for the price was great. Ingredients for the nachos just didn’t seem fresh. Chips had a stale/bitter taste. They do have an awesome drink fountain now that allows you to formulate your own brew of Coke products.

Came in at 12:30 expecting a long lunch line but only 1 person in front of us. Great start! Ordered 2 chicken fajita tacos and a queso and chips. Total was just under $ 13. Food came out super fast and I was ready to dig into that tasty looking cheesy goodness. It had a small drop of guacamole and some orange colored sauce. I mixed it in and tried it. whoa that’s good! Very different than your average queso. Beware though, the spice may sneak up on you if you stop eating it! The foodie that I am had to pour the queso on my taco– great idea. Go me! They should add it as an option on the menu. Sooo yummy. Cool atmosphere, friendly and FAST service AND great food? I’ll definitely be back!

Buckaroo(barbacoa/lime/onion/cilantro/avocado) with green sauce is my favorite taco ever and they have really good queso!

They have great tortillas for their breakfast tacos but they ALWAYS over cook and dry out the eggs. We have one guy in our office that loves this place and buys the office bfast tacos on occasion. Everyone in our office agrees, eggs are always over cooked and dry. stop it!

3.5. Pretty solid taco place. A toned down, more authentic Torchy’s, if you needed something to compare it to. Came in during lunch time(around 12:30pm) and the line was relatively short. The orders are taken quickly, you get a number and have a seat. We received our tacos 5 – 6 minutes later, so that’s a plus if you’re looking for a quick, filling, delicious lunch. I’d say for the average person, two tacos would be a good meal without having you sleeping at your desk in the afternoon. I had a taco with panko breaded shrimp and pickled red onions that was pretty tasty, and another chicken taco with a sour cream sauce. The chicken was flavorful. Guacamole could use some work, though; there wasn’t much flavor. I would ask for limes if you need to satisfy that guacamole craving. Service was great! Cashiers were nice and knew what they were doing, and there’s always someone around to help you with whatever you needed.

Awesome tacos, and the Queso dip is some of the best I’ve had. Would make a special trip downtown just for the queso.

I notice all the hipsters are comparing this place to Torchy’s. I’ve been to Torchy’s once and was immediately turned off. The breakfast tacos are okay, but not traditional. Toppings are laid on a scrambled egg, not scrambled with, as they should be. I have enjoyed the lunch/dinner options more. I have felt this place is more Texas than Austin hipster.

Slightly above average fare from a Torchy’s wannabe. Not bad, but they definitely need a reality check if they ever want to venture out beyond downtown where folded tortilla options aren’t quite so limited.

Nothing great, but not horrible either. There is never a long line and service is quick. I’ve only been here to pick up food to-go and honestly I don’t even remember what I’ve tried. That being said, there are plenty of other places downtown competing for my stomach.

Blatantly a rip off of Torchy’s except not nearly as good. The unoriginality irks me.

This place is almost exactly the same as Torchy’s tacos, but with smaller portion sizes and different names for the menu items. Essentially, this is a place for people who work downtown, but don’t have time to go to Torchy’s. I’m honestly surprised Lone Star Taco still exists, since they are just begging for legal drama from Torchy’s.

Straight copycat of torchy’s. I got the sampler, which featured 5 different tacos. Sadly, all of them tacos tasted the same. Decent, but not great. The best part about this dish was the queso, but there’s so little of it. My colleagues ordered the full-fledged tacos, but they were about 60% of the size of Torchy’s offerings. If you have a hankering for tacos, go check out Poblano’s or other downtown offerings.

It’s a Torchy’s clone, but it’s downtown and I don’t have to drive from the office. Some of the tacos are exactly the same as what you’d get from Torchy’s, except the ingredients aren’t quite as good. The queso is exactly the same as Torchy’s. Coke products instead of cane sugar drinks in the fountain. An unusual number of growlers on shelves around the entire restaurant even though there’s not a beer in sight. Again, a not quite as good Torchy’s with the convenience of being within walking distance of the office. Go to Torchy’s for the real thing; come here when time is a factor.

Good food and quick service if you are downtown. Large selection of tacos. I especially liked the greenhorn(shrimp) taco. The queso is also very tasty and different than the run of the mill stuff that other restaurants serve. I got the sampler today which was a nice variety. I’m embarrassed to say I have eaten here for lunch two days in a row. Initially came because the Chipotle line was so ridiculously long. Now I prefer it here anyway.

Food was good, but thought it was odd they were playing Texas rap music in the morning.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It is really close to my work so that is a plus. I don’t like that the company is owned by Texas Taco that was sued by Torchy’s for almost an exact copy of the menu and recipes. Today I had the Old Betsy and the Royal Flush off of the breakfast menu. Both were excellent and exactly what I order at Torchy’s. Service at 7;30 am was fast. I think the food is very good, I just don’t think it is that hard to be creative enough to make your own menu.

This place is clearly just a Torchy’s wannabe. They claim they have the best queso in town? Yes, yes, they do, because it’s EXACTLY like Torchy’s queso! They even have politically named tacos to compete with Torchy’s Democrat and Republican tacos. I want to give them less stars because I am upset that they used someone else’s recipes and overall concept, but the tacos were good and it’s close to work… so 3 stars it is because I will probably come back.

Well, what can you say? This is close to my work and we order for it when the office is working not stop. This morning I ordered for the office. My coworker specifically asked for no cheese on two of his breakfast tacos as he was lactose intolerant. When I got back to the office I found tacos missing, cheese on ALL of the tacos(much less to my coworker’s surprise). Also missing number of total order and the wrong kinds. The staff there seems less than pleased to working there and couldn’t care less that my order was wrong. Also, when I walked in they had loud rap music at 10:45AM in the morning. The only reason we go is for convenience. Therefore, 3 stars. There’s much more that goes into a restaurant than just the food.

I wasn’t going to review this place right away because they always have new location pains that they have to go through. It appears that they have gone over this speed bump because initially the breakfast tacos were rather small and now they are significantly stuffed and the chorizo and egg as well as bacon and egg are quite good. I’m a big breakfast eater so getting this at 11:15 am is also a serious plus.
