Had brunch here on a Sunday. The place was packed! We ordered as soon as we could, and our food was out in 20 minutes! It was incredible considering how busy they were. Here is what we ordered: I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was smothered in a delicious white gravy. It was served with perfectly scrambled eggs and hash browns. My friend ordered the Biscuit benedict. She let me try it, and it was the best Benedict I have ever had. It was served with a huge scoop of cheddar grits. My other friend ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was 3 half biscuits swimming in a delicious beer and sausage white gravy. It was topped with scrambled eggs! Yummm! My friends and I were hungover and indecisive, but our server, Ray, was very nice and patient with us. Courtney, one of the managers stopped by our table to check on us at the beginning of our meal. And another manager(I didn’t catch her name) came by later to check on us and help clear our table. EXCELLENTFOODANDEVENBETTERSERVICE!!! HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

I enjoy sitting on the patio with friends once in a while. Good bar food, variety of cocktails and beers, very slow service.

On this, our third brunch trip to Lowbrow, we have decided that we will not be back. The indoor area was playing such loud music that no one could hear anyone else at the table. Although we were seated quickly, our order was not taken for 90 minutes despite having made a reservation. In terms of food, we come for our favorite dish of shrimp and grits. It has always been tasty. Unfortunately, the once gooey cheese grits have now been replaced with plain grits served covered in processed cheese sauce. Think cheese product from a glass jar. Missing from the dish is the kale that was once served under the previously excellent grits. Hoping to recreate the dish I ordered a side of kale(they were out of it). On the promise of amazing food, we brought 8 people who had never been to Lowbrow. We were embarrassed.

The menu has changed a lot, but over the last year I’ve had quite a few tasty dishes here. It’s a great place for an uncomplicated dinner and beer, except – it is freezing inside. It was so cold last time I was there sitting inside that I can’t bring myself to go back now unless it is warm enough for the patio.

Second 5-star review. Different food. Different server. Same story. First off, the vibe in this place is never pretentious. We came in on a Friday night a little before 7pm. All the servers work together to seat people as they walk in, they bus their own tables, they do not rush you, but they are not slow to serve either. Lang was awesome. He greeted us and took us through all of our drink and happy hour options. I ordered a martini a «little» dirty and that’s exactly what I got. I asked him to compliment the bartender and he was happy to do it. Her name is Nicole and if you’re tired of getting a martini that’s too dirty — ask for her. The special was fried chicken and that’s what we ordered. I was afraid I was going to chip a tooth it was so crispy! I was a bit worried when the Cedar Creek group bought the place out but so relieved that they left the concept of Lowbrow largely untouched. We’ll be back for Drag Brunch!

I love this place! The food is awesome Great decoration and environment. Not a big fan of their parking situation but it doesn’t really matter. A little bit pricey but well worth going.

Service was great, attentive but not annoying. Beer recommendations were spot on. Fried Chicken was awesome, as was the blue cheese and burger. Music on the patio in the sun was great, lots of British tunes in the afternoon. Hand cut fries were super! I highly recommend and will be going back!

I came here for Sunday brunch with group of 10. Reservation was very easy and convenient. The temperature was around 50 °F outside and they arranged us on the outdoor patio since they have another big table inside already. I wasn’t very happy about the arrangement since the cold weather was really killing my appetite. Bonnie(Hope I spell her name correctly) was very nice and set the heaters by our table which helped a little bit. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive nor impressive, she was just there to take her order. Our water and coffee hit the bottom of the cup for very long time and there weren’t anyone came by to refill the drinks. The waitress only showed up and asked if we need refill when we were about to leave. Meh. I ordered the egg-white omelette, turkey sausage and avocado. The food tasted mediocre. Turkey sausage tasted like boxed frozen patty you can get from Walmart. Their hush-brown was pretty tasty though. Overall, this venue is a great neighborhood hang out place. It’s not worth it if you need to drive 25 minutes+ to get there. Find somewhere else.

We came here with a group of about 8 girls and a child, we were seated in a very odd table in the middle of the restaurants surrounded by cushy couches and very eclectic décor. I love brunch but wasn’t blown away by their offerings. I will say that the«steak and egg» I had ordered was just alright. Their fried chicken though looked so good! I should’ve ordered that instead. I’m not gonna say no to this place and will definitely give the place a second try. The waitstaff was what made the difference. They were all very nice and personable.

Came on a Sunday for a friend’s going away brunch. They have a real life DJ spinning off to the side and it sort of feels like you are at the club, but with food. #winning. They have mimosas for $ 2 which were pretty decent for 2 bucks. Their brunch menu has a pretty decent variety. I ordered the egg in a hole grilled cheese with a side of tater tot casserole. The casserole was the best part of the plate and I could probably eat my body weight in it’s crispy deliciousness. The sandwich was lacking something. I added bacon to mine for $ 2 extra, but still was missing something. Heat? Sweet? I dunno, they might want to play around with that recipe and bring some life back into it. Apparently there was a back up in the kitchen and the wait staff brought out plates of biscuits with homemade jams and a plate of biscuits eggs and gravy to hold us over. This was very much appreciated and for that reason I give them the 5th star. Our waiter was on it and got all of our tickets separated and us out on time to be onto the next party venue. I will totally come back here for brunch and maybe a few drinks on their patio!

Really enjoy this casual venue set off-the-beaten path in Montrose. Good atmosphere, food specials and creative drinks during happy hour. Missing some of my favorites since the ownership changed, like the Duck Quesadilla, the Sambal Chile con Queso, and the Ricotta Bacon Fritters from their selection of starters. The Curry Fries are still a good option. Their Blood Orange ‘Rita is pretty good too!

Urban hip atmosphere Houston style! We love having weekend brunch on the patio here — quality of food is consistently strong and cocktails are generous.

I love Lowbrow but there are a few things that keep me from giving this place a 5 star review. Firstly, the staff is friendly but I’m always confused by who is the hostess/who is the waiter. I’ve had 3 people wait on me in a single visit which makes tipping really difficult! I’ve also gone before when zero people have asked for my order. Secondly, it’s a little pricey. A burger is easily over $ 12 especially if you add avocado which is an extra $ 1.50 charge! A little pricey for a bar & grill in my opinion. However, the happy hour and weekend brunch are great, though their brunch menu is a little limited in serving options. Go early for happy hour and brunch, the place gets packed quickly. My favorite thing to order is the grapefruit vodka cocktail and the crispy tofu — yummy! Also their sandwiches are huge. GETTHECURRYFRIES! You won’t regret it. I’m promising you the curry fries are heaven. All in all, Lowbrow is a great little find, but just be careful because things can definitely get pricey quickly. Take advantage of their specials and happy hours — I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

Thank you Creek group for rescuing Low Brow, and making is now a favorite for drinks, dinner or brunch. The difference between my last two visits were a 360 turn around. Popped in for brunch on Saturday after the color run, and sat outside. Weather was perfect, as was the service and food. Started off with a carafe of mimosas, and had the eggs Benedict with a side of crispy bacon. Friend had the 2 egg plate. Both were excellent. The side salad that came with my Benedict was very tasty. They have a variety of brunch items to choose from biscuits, eggs, chicken fried steak, and so on. They also do a drag brunch every now and then, which looks entertaining. Service was friendly and the kitchen was fast. Without a doubt I will be back now that ownership has changed.

So I was bummed to hear Lowbrow was«closing» and turning into a Creeks restaurant. Thought the whole vibe and décor was gonna change — but it didn’t. The other good news is that because of the new ownership, service has gotten better. Kitchen is fast, service is attentive — everything is just more streamlined. I still rec the curry fries, any of their juicy burgers, and any featured special. The kitchen comes up with some creative stuff.

Went here for Sunday brunch. Lots of outdoor patio seating and big indoor space so there was no wait, they have valet but there’s plenty of street parking so don’t even bother. Good brunch food, decent prices, and $ 2 Mimosas $ 5 Frozens(it’s different every week but I had a frozen Mojito and it was amazing). Probably had 1 too many mimosas, but at $ 2 who’s counting? I miss laid-back boozy brunches like the ones I used to go to when I lived in NYC, so this place brought me some nostalgia. I had the 2 egg breakfast with bacon, a huge delicious biscuit and potato hash. I have to say the hash was super flavorful and crispy, not soggy like how most brunch places make hash. I’d come back just for the potato hash and biscuits, no joke. The bacon was smoked and delish also. My bf had steak and eggs, and our friends got chicken dishes. Posted some pics. They all loved their food, and the mac n cheese was even topped with Cheetos! The waiter was very attentive with our food and drinks. I was full and buzzed by the end of our brunch date, so needless to say it was a good Sunday.

The décor was on point. 9. Good friends = good time. Bring the cool homies. 10. Awesome Yoda picture on the wall.

This review is for brunch only– I haven’t had the chance to make it in other than that, but considering Sunday brunch is one of the most fun meals of the week… Lowbrow is another creation from the«Creek» group(onion, cedar, dry. etc), which is known for their laid back casual atmosphere, good drinks, and good texas style comfort food. I really think their food is high quality, and honestly, you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Lowbrow is a quaint and funky little neighborhood place, with both indoor and outdoor seating. On Sundays they have a DJ, and he is really good and plays a nice mix of 80s/90s type stuff, but not so loud you cant hear the person next to you. They dont offer reservations, and if you come after 12, it can get busy. They also do 2 $ mimosas, 5 $ bloody’s, and 12 $ pitchers, all a win. Their cocktails are also great! So far everything I have had is wonderful. The stand outs are the fried brie appetizer, the egg in a hole sandwich(add avocado!), and the kale and grits. They also have a daily«waffle special» where the toppings change. It always looks delish! They have good coffee too. always a win for that Sunday headache. The service has always been pretty good– again due to the casual atmosphere I think the servers kind of give you your space… but it works here. I cant wait to go sit on the patio when the weather cools off!

Who: group of peeps When/where: Montrose, Friday night What: black bean burger, egg in a whole grilled cheese, margarita, beer on tap, curry fries Why(not): I’m a fan of the Creek restaurants, but not that into this one. We got the curry fries with tofu which didn’t live up to the hype. Nice curry flavor with onions and jalapeños but nothing spectacular. The sandwich and burger were okay too, nothing special, which for the price, was disappointing. For me, the basis of Lowbrow’s appeal is the easy seating and laid back atmosphere-not the food.

Really a 3.5. The restaurant itself is very cool, casual, divey, and eclectic! The menus(brunch and lunch/dinner) are excellent, too, with a lot of options, including several vegetarian options! However, the food was very inconsistent! We started with the biscuits(which came after our meals) — they were thin and hard. I had the kale and grits. The tomato gravy and kale were great, the grits were so so(but delicious when mixed with the gravy), and one egg was poached perfectly. The other egg was essentially hard boiled, inedible. My boyfriend had the egg in a hole grilled cheese, which was good. He also got a side of cheese grits, which were just regular grits with grated cheddar melted on top. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Full bar, 12 beers on tap, and brunch cocktails! I love the location, restaurant, and idea of the place. If their food was more consistent, it’d be four stars at least!
