Lt Tailors

So I have been needing to get some plain tank knit shirts made for my dance classes to sweat in. Nothing special just a plain draped tank. I go to this shop with one of my old tops that I would like them to make. I tell the lady that I will buy the fabric and asked how much would she quote me for labor. (keep in mind it is a plain knit tank top). She says she charges $ 85 for one top. IS SHE SERIOUS?! !? For $ 85 I could buy a dozen tanks at the mall. THAT LADY NEEDS TO GET OVER HERSELF! As if she thinks she’s Chloe Dao from Project Runway.
Go elsewhere, they have unrealistic charges here.

I bought a few suits from Italy that needed to be taken in. Her 20 plus years in the industry is all that made me feel comfortable to have her work on the suits. I was very nervous because I had to pay upfront, but she reiterated that she’s been in the business a long time and everything would be fine. I have to say she did an excellent job and I would highly recommend her for her work.

This very short and one time adventure with L T Tailors ending up with my face turning bright red as I tried very hard to just walk away from a situation that was basically going no where.
My father was getting married, and as a wedding present, I wanted to get his & his soon-​to-​be bride’s house robes monogramed. After reviewing the 2 reviews from Unilocal,I choose L T based on location and I would be able to get my dress for the wedding tailored as well as getting their robes monogramed.
Dropping off the items was easy, and if my experience with them was solely based on that I would have given them a better review, but alas it isn’t. I dropped the items off on a Friday afternoon with a Tuesday pick up date.
I was given a total of $ 124.50 for 2 monogram purchases and 1 tailor. The monograms were $ 32.50 each and the tailor job was $ 50.00. I also had to pay up-​front.
When going back to pick up the gifts, I saw a blatant mistake on my father’s robe. There were 2 different colors on 1 letter, and there wasn’t suppose to be. One was a definite tan and the other was an off-​white.
When pointing this out to the shop owner she said to me, «Maybe we forgot to match the threads when the one ran out.»
To which I replied, «Yeah it looks like it.» I wasn’t mad or even the slightest bit annoyed until she said, «It’s fine, you can’t tell the difference.»
That is when I started to question 2 things:
1) Her integrity as a tailor
2.) How she viewed me as a person
I asked her if she could change it because I would not accept 2 different colors, she said, «Sure can you come back in an hour?» I told her that was fine, but I wanted to try on my dress first.
I went into the dressing room and I couldn’t get the dress over my head. Which didn’t make sense to me, because when I brought the dress over there it did, even with the pinned adjustments. I will admit that is when I got upset. I came out of the dressing room, and I explained calmly but a bit flustered that the dress didn’t fit over my head. I also explained that since 2 things out of the 3 things I had on my order were messed up I would like some sort of refund (had it just been the letter, correction, had it just been the letter and an apology without trying to convince me it was fine, I wouldn’t have thought about money at all).
The shop owner then started to say in a very loud tone, «It’s okay we will fix it, don’t worry. We will fix it.» She wouldn’t explain anything to me (even though I asked for a simple explanation, as I am a person who understands situations better when they are explained to me), she wouldn’t apologize, she just wanted to ensure me it was going to be fixed. So I sat and waited.
The shop owner came up to me with my dad’s robe and showed me how she «fixed» it. And again, it was not fixed. She basically monogramed (very poorly) over the tan thread with the off-​white thread, leaving strands of the tan thread still visible and the letter form thicker on one side than the other (it was the letter M). So I had to ask her to redo the whole letter. Let me repeat: I had to ask her to unthread the letter and re-​monogram it. I HAD TO ASK HER.
She took it back and began to rethread. During that time my dress was completed. I tried it on, and yes, it fit over my head.
When coming out of the dressing room, the shop owner showed me my dad’s robe. «See, it is better now,» she said. And I was in complete agreement with her. However, when I asked her for a refund on the monogram, she went a little um… crazy.
«I FIXED IT. IF YOU WANT A REFUND, I WILL TAKE THIS BACK RIGHT NOW AND TAKE THE MONOGRAM OUT. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU ARE GETTING A REFUND. I’VE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 25 YEARS AND I CAN’T SURVIVE BY GIVING REFUNDS,» she informed me.
I had to ask her to calm down, so I could explain why I was asking for refund.
1.) She tried to pass off the first mess-​up as if it was unnoticeable
2.) 2 of the 3 items were messed up
3.) I had to ask her a 2^nd time to do a good job on the monogram b/​c she just treaded over the first attempt
4.) I had to wait an hour to get all of this done (when I dropped the items off on Friday).
5.)And since the items were dropped off on Friday she could have fixed the monogram letter before I even got there to pick it up
But after explaining that to her she continued, «I FIXED IT. IF YOU WANT A REFUND, I MUST TAKE OUT THE MONOGRAM. I CAN’T JUST GIVE THINGS AWAY FOR FREE.»
It was then, that I decided to just leave without a refund. I did have my merchandise and it was finally the way I wanted it, but I can’t do anything about the service nor someone’s personality.
While gathering my things she calmly asked, «Would you like a bag.»
I did not accept, because if it is too much to ask to get a simple monogram job done right the first time, it is too much to expect a bag.
I want it to be known, that this is just my experience. That she may be really nice and I just caught her on an off day. Let’s hope so.

So I had gained a couple of inches around the waistline due to the excessive gorging of food that had occured during the holiday season. This fact did not occur to me until 2 days before a wedding I was to attend.
I had brought my pants to Lt Tailors and was greeted by a very nice lady. I told her my situation and she measured me and told me that my pants would be ready in the morning. The lady was friendly. The workmanship was excellent. The turnaround time was quick. Couldn’t ask for more!!!

I love the service here! The owner is a sweet lady who reminds you of your mom. They are really nice and get the job done whenever you need it. I’ve been going here for all my alterations and monograms.
