Lovely people showcasing a wonderful line of Argentinean foods! The chef and his wife are so friendly and eager to share their food — I’ve sampled just about everything! The chimichurri sauce was particularly amazing — have no idea where you can buy authentic tasting chimichurri!

I’ve been lucky enough to try everything that Lucia’s has to offer at one of their tasting events, including the empanadas that disappeared far too quickly during the Unilocal Holiday Hoedown. While the four or five days I spent, mainly shopping, in Argentina hardly renders me an expert on authenticity, I say with confidence that Lucia’s is the real deal. After all, I did practically live at Central Market during the Argentina festival and stocked up on Havanna alfajores for weeks. Chef Salguero’s quintessentially Argentinean charm, propensity to belt out a bolero to get you to try his food and thick Rosario accent certainly help make the experience. His alfajores are made in the true Argentinean style, layer cookies either coated in meringue or ganache with a mysterious nuttiness; something hard to find in Houston(where else can you buy them locally made?). A clear stand out is the chimichurri, which is the same thick consistency of homemade versions, not the watered down oily condiment found in stores, which also tends to be too salty. They’ve also just introduced an Argentinean blend olive oil and their own dulce de leche! While I’ve never used their catering services, I can’t imagine they’d be less then excellent given the quality and authenticity of the food along with the obvious attention to detail, love and care that both Chef Salguero and his wife put into everything they do!
