Althoug the restaurant seems to be closed indefinetly, this is my review from the last six times I have been there. I absolutely love the ceviche! The place is very casual! The yuca root is delicious! They cut it thick before cooking and it comes out crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The chicken strips are also very delicious! f

Dee-lish-us! I had stopped by the restaurant twice and they were either already closed or closing for the day each time that I stopped by. Finally, I was able to dine in. I had the crunchy chicken tacos with a side of guacamole. Not the best chicken tacos that I’ve had in my life, but they gave me what I needed at that moment. My husband had the chicken nuggets and they were AWESOME, too. Very fresh and clean tasting. Loved the coarse ground salt and pepper on them. Everything just came together in a bunch of goodness and yumminess. It was like all three of my favorite foods in life(chicken, guacamole, tacos) had tag teamed and danced all over my taste buds. Give this place a try. I will be going back to work my way through the menu!

Meh! Was not anything I expected from a Houston Tex-Mex… Queso tasted like warm Velveeta — and what’s up with putting a layer of shredded lettuce on the bottom of the guacamole container — guess because it is green and they couldn’t use styrofoam witch’s noses… How clever to do that and give you less than what you think/see!!!

This is my new favorite place and they know me well here already :) My recommendations of things I’ve tried: Pork Tamales(checken were on the dry side but pork are authentic and good!!) Rotisserie chicken(mexican or American) The whole enchilada Fish tacos(I had the crispy and I am SUPER picky about fish tacos, they were really good!!) Fajita beef tacos(YUM) My fav sides-Plantains, charro beans, mashed potatoes and mexican rice Breakfast tacos-they are huge and yummy and 2 w/drink on a weekend morning at 2.99, you can’t beat it! And did I mention that all their prices are extremely reasonable? I plan to be a long time customer of this place. I love it! Thumbs up HOLA!

good and cheap — shrimp burger. It was thick and really good. Big and moist. Came with sweet potato fries for $ 6.50. — side of yuca root. Fried like large french fries. Also very good. — enchiladas, chicken, tomatillo sauce, and some other stuff(looked more like casserole but also really good) — comes with 2 sides for about $ 7. Got the mashed potatoes and plantains. — tamarindo — horchata Dunno about the chicken that the owner said was their specialty, or the tacos. Ended up being 2 very large meals; we both took a lot of food home. We had a groupon but it would have been about $ 22. I definitely would have paid full price for it. The yuca root was unnecessary. $ 6 – 9 will fill you up here.

Had«brainy» tacos which were very bland. Half chicken was tender but just that. Horchata was the only thing that had taste. will not be going back even if they paid me. So no bueno to hOla! Adiós.

this was one of the worst«restaurants» I have ever been to in Houston. We had a small table and they got half the orders wrong. Food was cold, crispy taco shells were stale. You eat off plastic plates with plastic utensils. Where does Mancuso’s get off thinking they can make Mexican food… this isn’t even close. Interesting there is such a big menu and nothing is cooking in the open kitchen but the microwave. How long until the health department investigates and finds chicken sitting out? DONOTEATHERE!

This place occupies the former Hartz Chicken Buffet. They also make use of the drive-thru. Hola has a mixture of Central American food, ranging from various kinds of tacos, tamales, burgers, and the Central American version of rotisserie chicken. We were recommend to try these: Shrimp Tacos: They were ok. To me, the shrimp was seasoned a little too salty. Mexican Rotisserie Chicken: The chicken is very tender and juicy. They season it very well. The rotisserie chicken came with 2 sides. So we got: Sweet Plantains: holy moly I could eat this all day! Usually places make plantains very softy and to the point mushy. Hola makes them a little crispy. Mashed Potatoes: At first glance, they looked very plain Jane. But, the mashed potatoes were seasoned well, buttery, and fluffy. I recommend going for a bird and trying their sides. Have a Mexican coke while your at. Ain’t nothing fresher than coke from a glass bottle! P. S. I’m not sure what time they close but we came in around 7:45ish and they locked up at 8:15 which is pretty early. The employee or manager stayed behind and said don’t worry about it and even offered to change the tv channel. Service was good and friendly! They also serve breakfast at 6am.

Hola(they spell it «hOla») is a mix of Central American cuisines. It’s counter service with a varying menu. Overall, I liked it and it shows promise. When we went they had a soft opening with a limited menu that was probably 75% of what’s available. Among our group, we had nachos, shrimp avocado salad, and breakfast tacos. Other items on the menu include roasted chicken, fried chicken, burgers, tamales, and enchiladas. Sides include about 15 items including plantains, yuca, and the usual suspects of rice, beans, etc. The«American» food like fried chicken, burgers, and a pot pie appear to more than just an after thought based on how they are featured on the menu. The chef explained how they specially marinate the chicken overnight. Hola would be a good choice when most of a group want Latin/Mexican but a few holdouts want something else. The restaurant occupies the old Hartz Chicken location and claims to be the«World’s Best Tacos and Roasted Chicken.» That’s a bold claim that they’ll have to work hard to meet. I would say they are the best tacos for at least a few blocks. I guess you have to start somewhere! The service was attentive and they seem to be trying to make sure they get it right as evidenced by the soft opening. I would keep an eye on this place.
