Awesome service, cool servers. Great food. The patio is the place to be on a lazy Sunday afternoon for a glass of champagne and good conversation.

I’ve been here twice now and the one on Washington once. This time I reserved a 8 person table for a Saturday morning brunch. They were accomodating as much as they could be. Billy the manager gave me 2 hrs from 10 – 12 because I had more than 6 ppl. Early but understandable. We were a little late and trickling in but still accomodating. Their fried chicken was amazing as always. Ribeye fried steak was good as well but a little mushy biting in to it. Potatos that came with it were spicy but good. Donuts and wings. Wings were off the chizzainn. Lol donuts were cold and dry but Billy fixed that problem with new warm ones. Yay and thank you! If you’re expecting a real donut, it’s not. Its more like a beignet. Just FYI. Couple of people had the Cajun Benedict and waffles. they ate it all and didn’t complain so I guess those were good as well. I prefer the original mimosas with OJ. Pomegranate was just ok for me. The waiter spilled some of the 2nd champagne bottle but I’ll let it slide this time! ;) I’ve also had their collard greens and they’re scrumptious! Their wine choices and cheese are good from what I remember too!

Went here for brunch today for the first time and really enjoyed it. We split the crème brûlée French toast(my favorite, so rich and yum didn’t even need syrup), something green goat cheese omelette(so yummy), and the red velvet pancake(okay in my opinion was kinda dry but my fiancé liked it). It was really busy which is expected on a Sunday morning but service was still really good.

Came in with the girlfriend for some Peanut Butter Icebox Pie & S’mores Bread Pudding… Although it’s on the online menu and the menu inside the waiter said that it’s not on the menu which we took off the table and handed him. Her two favorite desserts are s’mores and peanut butter anything so we opted for the blondie and s’mores bread pudding… The blondie surprisingly was the savior, as the s’mores bread pudding was a basic slice of brioche covered in chocolate with chocolate ice cream… I assumed there would be graham crackers or a marshmellow thrown somewhere in the mix. As we both rarely eat sweets was a bit of a disappointment.

I’ve read so many reviews about this place, had to try it for myself to confirm all this crazy talk was legit. My friend and I dined outside as the inside was dim and a little too noisy. Our server was kind and very nice even though he didn’t show up as much as we would have preferred him too. I ordered the Jalapeño Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Red Velvet Pancakes. Both items were OUTSTANDING and exceeded my expectations. My sweet & salty taste buds were quite satisfied. They fry the fried chicken slowly(took them well over 30min). Served both dark and white meat. Both were extremely juicy and filled with flavor. The crunch was perfected and the chicken was not as oily and soggy as most is. The red velvet pancakes were a combination of a pancake & cupcake. Simply amazing. They should open a location in my hometown, SF.

It’s okay. I believe it is truly hyped to be something it does not own up to. The atmosphere is pretty good though

I used to frequent here a bit when this location first opened. I loved it. Industry brunch on Mondays was my favorite. Haven’t been here in a while and some family was in town so I decided to bring them here since I only recall great things about this place. However, today was pretty bad. We sat 30 minutes, no joke, before a waitress came by, took our order and then we never saw her again. My aunt and I had the eggs any style and both of our eggs were cold. I was so upset that I brought my family here that I didn’t even complain because I didn’t want my family to recall having a bad breakfast together. My uncle ordered the omelette with goat cheese and home fries as his side, but he was brought out the jalapeño grits. Once again, they’re low key and didn’t want to make an issue so we just left it alone. I come from the restaurant industry, I’ve worked in several restaurants and trust me when I say, I understand the chaos of a busy day. But 30 minutes without having a drink in front of us is ridiculous. And then to get our order wrong, come on that’s just whack. Super disappointed. When I was weeded as a server, it’s the most common logic to get a manager involved to at least get some drinks in front of the table. I’m happy other people enjoy this place, but it’s just not for me.

Great staff, great wine selection and deals. Mediocre food, was not impressed. They need a menu make over.

We came here for our nephew’s graduation on Saturday night. It was about 10:30pm so the restaurant was pretty scarce being that it closes at 2am. Much bigger than the location on Washington. I think you have to valet though unless you can find parking elsewhere on the street. We had the oyster nachos to start. I liked the idea of this as it sits on wonton chips… but I wasn’t too impressed with the taste. The oyster tasted a bit too chewy. I ordered the fried egg sandwich. This thing was huge! Like a foot long sandwich! I was only able to eat about 1⁄3 of it. It was good… not mind blowing but I really enjoyed the bread and the truffle oil. Definitely something I’d split with someone. Overall everyone enjoyed their food I think. It was just okay for me.

Okay… okay…the chicken fried lobster… AMAZING!!! I mean this piece of lobster was HUGE. It was set on a bed of collard greens and served with spicy potatoes and slice of French toast. Honestly, everything was amazing! We also had mimosas, which were also amazing. For desert we had a Blondie, which tasted like a sugar cookie(AMAZE-BALLS!!). The food and the service were great, this is a spot you don’t want to sleep on!

I thoroughly enjoyed this spot! It’s been bookmarked as a brunch spot for months now; I don’t know what took me so long to check it out! My friends and I ordered a bottle of champagne to share for our mimosas. The watermelon juice was so refreshing with the champagne. I ordered Max & cheese which has a truffle cheese on it. I’m usually not a fan of truffle cheese because of a negative experience but I was willing to try it again and I am SO happy I did! I also added chicken breast to my dish — the chicken was perfectly tender, hot and seasoned well — really well!!! My friend ordered the red velvet waffle which I had a delicious bite of. I wish I could’ve had another bite but I was too busy stuffing my face with my own meal: P I will probably order it next time. There are two locations within about 2 miles of each other but they carry different menus. I’ll have to visit their second location soon.

It’s not on the menu but you must have the chicken fried lobster. It’s the best thing on the menu next to the Blondie that tastes like the best sugar cookie ever!

I’ve been wanting to come here for the longest time. I invited my friend and we met here. The server was friendly and got our drink orders. After we placed our orders we spent the time catching up. 20 mins passed and we thought, «it’s brunch time, we’ll give them some time.» 30 mins passed and we thought, «they must be backed up in the kitchen… it happens.» 50 mins pass and we looked to the table next to us and they got their food. They came 20 mins after we ordered! NOTOKAY! My friend found the manager and brought it to his attention that our food still has not arrived. He apologized and informed us that our ticket was«lost» and that he rushed our order; so it will be coming out immediately. WINEDIVEMIMOSA– made with fresh squeezed OJ or Texas grapefruit juice I got the mimosa with orange juice and it wasn’t bad. You could taste the juice, but it wasn’t overwhelming and you could definitely taste the champagne. My friend got the grapefruit juice and it was disappointing. I didn’t taste any grapefruit at all. FAMOUSSOUTHERNFRIEDCHICKEN– jalapeño-buttermilk marinated chicken, with home fries, collard greens and Texas toast The fried chicken was very flavorful and moist, but was it the greatest I’ve ever had? No. But I do have to say that it’s better than most. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and retained its moisture. It had a little bit of heat too it, but it wasn’t overpowering and the fries were amazing. They weren’t crunchy, but had a solid texture. They added a different layer of spice to the dish especially when the chicken is already so flavorful. The collard greens had a nice earthiness, which balances out the taste of the savory chicken. CRAWFISHBENEDICT– golden-brown pugliese topped with two poached eggs and crawfish hollandaise I was looking forward to this dish, but it was just okay. I really liked the crawfish hollandaise because it was so creamy and savory. The eggs were cooked nicely and runny when broken, but the crawfish pieces were flavorless and bland. The pugliese bread was very crisp and added some nice texture, but it got soggy really quick after the eggs were broken, which made it hard to cut through. The manager was very sincere when he came to apologize. I honestly felt it and it was a kind gesture. I would’ve given 4 stars, but I bumped it down 1 because of service. Even though they acknowledged their mistake, but the issue I have is not about the«missing» ticket, but of the server. She was friendly from the beginning and the last moment we saw her, but I just don’t understand how you don’t come by to check on your table for 50 mins. How does that happen? I’ve been a server so I know all about rushes and how crazy it can be during peak hours, but 50 mins? Seriously?! If you have a table, you’ve got to pay attention and be on the top of your game. You know when a table has their food and when they’ve been sitting there way past their time. For that, I give 3 stars. I would’ve bumped it down to 2, but I’ll be forgiving this one time because my friend had a great time and only because of her I’ll give 3 stars.

2 words: WINGS. DONUTS. Do I even need to finish the review? Max’s is essentially a brunch bae’s wildest dreams come true. Their menu is extensive and contains something for everyone, whether you’re looking for sweet, savory, or straight up lunch. I’d read magical tales of the chicken here, but I was also fighting my sweet tooth like nobody’s business, so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the wings and donuts. Donuts?! And then it was over. I’ll never forget the way that meal made me feel. The buttery, crispy, piping hot wings. The warm, powdery, homemade donuts that tasted as if they just came out of some heavenly fryer. Last but not least, the innocent, sophisticated syrup, simply a pawn in this beautifully orchestrated symphony of sweet, savory goodness. I used all my napkins, thus I could not catch the single tear that shed with my last bite. I had a bite of the egg sandwich, and it was also delicious and well-crafted, but alas, my wings and donuts were not to be overshadowed. Adorable venue(make reservations for Sunday brunch though), chic crowd, tricky parking, and amazing food. Hats off to MAX’s.

Met my friend B for brunch there and it was pretty cool. They had both outdoor and indoor seating, which was awesome. Valet parking was complimentary, with just a tip. Their mimosas were pretty good and the service was good. I only had a fruit bowl and a few mimosas(I got hungry early and ate before brunch, lol). B had the fried chicken and waffles, and he liked it just fine. I enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely go back again, and not eat prior! p. s. I would give them five stars if they had unlimited mimosas… really.

I had the fried chicken, honestly the chicken was slightly overcooked and I’ve had better from here. Very nice atmosphere. Nice outside eating area and parking was not too bad. Four stars became we came here at 2:45 pm and the kitchen closes from 3 – 4. We Waited about an hr to order.

Max’s is awesome. These guys are known for their fried chicken(hence, «Famous Southern Fried Chicken») and, while it isn’t the best I’ve ever had – the white meat was a bit dry and the fried outside layer fell off a little too easily – it’s still pretty damn good. You get three solid-sized pieces of chicken, more than enough collard greens to dissipate any cheat-day guilt you my have, a layer mashed potatoes, and a big slice of Texas Toast. The feast is definitely strong with this one: I workout about 5 – 6 times a week and tend to eat more than the average person, yet I felt pregnant and stuffed to the brim after eating this dish. I can’t speak to the quality of Max’s brunch, but if their dinner is any indication, I’m sure it’s also the bomb-dot-com. Side note, I heard by word of mouth that this place actually doesn’t do bottomless mimosas, despite people mentioning it here? If someone sees, hears, or experiences otherwise, please let me know :) Definitely worth a visit for an awesome, energetic ambience and some great food!

First let me say that Jaymie was our server and did a great job of selecting each of us the perfect wine. After speaking with us for a few minutes he brought a wine for me to sample and a different wine for my husband; each wine was spot on. We sat at the bar and found his conversation with us perfect, he kept us entertained, was right there if we needed anything, but was not intrusive. He knows his job and does it well. Next the food; my husband had the fried chicken(which I had to taste of course), and I had the cheese plate. Both were tasty, but I have to say the chicken was AMAZING; it was fried perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and the meat was tender and juicy. The cheese plate had three cheeses, sliced apples, seasoned roasted pecans, and some VERY yummy bread. All went well with the wine. The place itself is very welcoming and comfortable. This is one of those places you can go with friends and hangout, a date with your honey or someone new. In other words, its great for any type of evening out(without the kids of course). IF there was anything I had to say negative it would be the parking, it’s a bit off-putting. But that cannot change the fact that I love this place and think it is perfect. I will recommend and we WILL return.

Max’s is a good place to go if you want to eat overpriced, mediocre food and drink mimosas surrounded by yuppies. I came here on a Sunday for brunch and the place was hoppin’. We ordered the famous fried chicken, crème brûlée French toast, max n cheese, and goat cheese omelet to share. We wanted to replace the home fries in the fried chicken entrée with grits, and our waitress said it would be $ 1 extra. We then decided to get the goat cheese omelet too, and for that one you can choose either the home fries OR the grits at no additional cost. I don’t know why we would have to be charged $ 1 extra to replace it for our fried chicken then… My friends really like grits, so we chose grits as the side for the omelet too, but they gave us home fries instead. We didn’t say anything because it wasn’t really a big deal, but that should not have happened, especially if you’re going to charge us $ 1 extra for grits with the fried chicken. The fried chicken is $ 18 for 3 measly pieces of chicken, a small mound of collard greens, a side, and half of a Texas toast. That’s super overpriced, IMO. The dark meat pieces of chicken were pretty tasty, but the white meat was dry. It was good and I liked the chipotle honey, but how bad could fried chicken get, really? There are plenty of places with the same or better fried chicken. The crème brûlée French toast tasted like normal French toast and was nothing special– there was no cream brûlée flavor or crunchy caramelization or anything. The goat cheese omelet was also very normal, and the home fries were not crispy at all. I did like the max n cheese, though! The pasta was cooked al dente, and the cheese had a light truffle flavor that was not too overbearing. The jalapeño cheddar grits was also pretty tasty. Parking is a little hard during busy hours because it’s mostly street parking, and I would also recommend making a reservation for popular times. I probably won’t be coming back though.
